This is turning into a disaster. If Massa loses this win... *If he wins*

Good driving by Raikkenon though, he got off the racing line really quick. Not every driver thinks that fast.

Hami catching Massa, he must be conserving the engine after 2 blowups in 2 races.

Last lap, c'mon Massa bring it home 👍

If he isn't punished the FIA will have proven that it stands for Ferrari Interests Authority

I'd agree with you there. Some form of action needs to be taken to ensure it doesn't happen again, it'd be harsh but it'll send out a message.

Congrats Massa 👍 Faultless race

Looks like he needs to learn to learn the difference between a red and green light first.

I'm thinking more about the refuelling guy then anyting else when it comes to this race, that accident looked awful. Belgian commentators report a broken leg.

On that, Ferrari needs a lollipop man, Toyota kicked ass, uber-consistent Trulli, Glock best man of the race, and finally a Vettel scoring 6th on his own, not thanks to the poor reliability of others. (With exception of Raikkonen)

Massa needs to take this championship, he deserves it. Hamster has enough time, so has Kovalainen, they will last longer than Massa... I think, how old is he anyway?

Massa will keep the win, and Ferrari will get a fine.

With regard to Kimi going when the fuel hose was still in - drivers are nutters. I've seen drivers going even when the lollipop man was there with the lollipop still down, hitting the driver on the helmet with it...

Didn't Albers do something similar at France last year, or before that? I do remember he took the hose with him as a souvenir, bloody talentless Dutch driver...

I was more worried about his back. Very nasty.

Indeed, his back bent so much I began to fear a serious back injury...

If the race went on a few laps longer then Vettel could have passed Trulli :(. Once again Bourdais wrecked his race with a terrible start, he was looking good for his first legit points of the season. It didn't seem like there was much overtaking going on, the only overtaking maneuver I saw was Nakajima passing Button. Personally, I hope Massa gets a penalty, Hamilton really needs the championship this year.

Yeah, it was last year, only it took him longer to realize it. :dunce:

Well got to say, its a good thing I feel half asleep during the 1st part of the race..... It was abso:censored:lutely boring during that stint. :ill:

However, I just focus back on the race when it started to become interesting again. Yeah, got to say it was a bad day for Kimi I got to say. He lost a place during the start, had been stuck behind Heikki for most of the race and with being under pressure, he made more mistakes then he usually would and the 2nd pit stop was probably his biggest mistake during the race when he jumped the light and drag the refueller with him. The engine blowout can be excused (I'll explain later below)

All in all, I think Massa really deserve the win. After having that bad luck at Hungary, he did an amazing comeback and to win convincingly without even putting a foot wrong. Way to go and keeping his dreams alive. 👍 Hamilton and Kubica did an excellent job as well, expecially Kubica as the BMW wasn't really on par with McLaren or Ferrari during that entire weekend. Trulli did a good job to fend Vettel off, but a good effort by both guys. With both Toyotas scoring point and Renault scoring none, Toyota extends their lead over Renault in the constructors point. :banghead:

Well as for the Massa pit lane incident, lets just hope its just a slap on a wrist and only a fine or a grid/time penalty during the next race.

Okay, to continue off from the engine blowout I'm just a little skeptical about the Ferrari engine. It seems it just doesn't manage to last over the 2 race distance. Both Massa and Kimi now had their engine blowout on their 2nd engine, especially after the engine is being pushed really hard after the race on their 1st engine. Not sure if this is a cooling issue, engine issue , track condition or just sheer plain bad luck, but Ferrari really need to get their team together if they want to challenge McLaren for the WDC.

The only thing that both Kimi and Massa fail to do now is to finish consistently, which both Hamilton and Kubica had been doing well so far. Its really going down to the wire with each and every race passing by.......

How was it Massa's fault?

It wasnt, but Ferrari themselves should be penalised in some way. I agree that Massa shouldnt be penalised for that, but the team should be.

G.T
And Kimi's engine blows up.

Ferrari aren't having a good time at all. :(

I wonder if Ferrari really are going back to their old ways. If they blow another engine next race, that confirms it for me, lol.

Yeah, almost no overtaking in that race, very dull and precessional. If it wasnt for Ferrari's troubles it would be the most boring race all season.
Hope the mechanic is alright though.

Good win for Massa and I think Kimi will be relegated to "backup" from now on unless Massa suddenly loses form (which is not beyond him).
Great result for Vettel and Toyota too!

It's about time Ferrari should think about backing Massa on the basis of that performance. 👍

unlike my guess hamilton drove very clean but slower than massa. they were both perfect. if massa will get a penalty I think that would be very unnecessary. Why ruin a driver's perfect weekend with a stupid decide? specially in this very boring track.
Raikkonen is gonna cost to Ferrari a constructor title..

I guess a race is pretty bad when the two main highlights are an engine failure and a re-fueller being run over. If next years race is like that, can we kiss goodbye to Valencia? I thought the track looked quite promising in Qualifying. Maybe the heat had a large impact on what the engines could do when (trying to) chase another car?

As for the Massa incident. Hard to punish Massa for that, really. Then again, what does a fine do to Ferrari?

Massa reprimanded but keeps victory

By Jonathan Noble and Pablo Elizalde Sunday, August 24th 2008, 14:38 GMT

Felipe Massa has been reprimanded and fined by the European Grand Prix stewards, but the Ferrari driver has kept his victory at Valencia.

Massa's victory was in doubt after the stewards said they would investigate a pitlane incident after the race.

The Brazilian nearly crashed with Force India's Adrian Sutil when joining the pitlane following his pitstop and the stewards deemed his release had been dangerous.

As a result of the incident Massa has been reprimanded and Ferrari fined 10,000 Euro.

Not sure what Massa himself could've done, although his comments in the press conference about Sutil being a lap down and therefore should get out of his way were wrong.

The penalty fits the crime. Not for the first time, I found myself shouting "Shut up James Allen!" when he was banging on about how Massa should be penalised. I bet he wouldn't have be so enthusiastic if Hamilton hadn't been second.

Otherwise, borefest. The only interest for me was seeing how Glock's 1-stop strategy worked out. Looks like Lewis isn't the only person who doesn't know that red means stop either.

bring donington on for european gp!:dunce: or make this boring race artificially a wet race...

Until 2010 of course.

They should use the Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit for the European GP, everyone knows that's the best circuit ever made, even if it is a bit too bumpy for an F1 Car.

Well, if Alonso quits, then there really isnt much point in the track being around. Its odd that it didnt turn out some better racing and surprising that we didn't have a safety car after all that talk about how its "highly likely, you can almost bet on it". Perhaps it says something about the quality of the drivers or maybe it says more about how the track has well placed run off areas.
They could have docked points or something from Ferrari, a fine seems a bit harsh when it wasn't Massa's fault.

Ferrari and Force India are really becoming rivals now arent they? lol.

Ah, James Allen, some of my favourite moments that annoyed me were when he again repeated the line "this reminds me of Long Beach, blah blah" (how many times did he say that?) and then saying "McLaren's engineers are the same people who were codebreakers in WW2...." He really should be sacked on the spot. I think he also mistakenly mentioned Glock as Heidfeld's teammate.

Even funnier that it was the person that Lewis ran into last time that missed the red light this time.
A lot of irony going on here. Massa and Sutil in a pit incident and Raikkonen missing a red light.

Well what a surprise, Massa loses some pocket money and the FIA ignore their own regulations. I'm sure any other team would have got a 10 place drop at Spa or a stop-go penalty during the race.

I64)
(i) it is the responsibility of the Competitor to release his car after a pit stop only when it is safe to do so.
Well so the regs have been breached, but.....

54) The stewards may impose any one of three penalties on any driver involved in an Incident :
a) A drive-through penalty. The driver must enter the pit lane and re-join the race without stopping ;
b) A ten second time penalty. The driver must enter the pit lane, stop at his pit for at least ten seconds
and then re-join the race.
c) a drop of ten grid positions at the driver’s next Event.
However, should either of the penalties under a) and b) above be imposed during the last five laps, or after
the end of a race, Article 55b) below will not apply and 25 seconds will be added to the elapsed race time
of the driver concerned.
What a farce F1 is at the moment and the FIA clearly can't follow their own rules, the stewards did say the release was dangerous in the press release.

Though yes Massa did fully deserve the win today with a flawless performance.

Force India can't really afford to, they use Ferrari engines.

At one point, on the speed trap caption, the fastest 5 drivers all were Ferrari powered.

Firstly, it was Ferrari who was fined and not Massa, and secondly...

54) The stewards may impose any one of three penalties

In other words, they don't have to.

I loved how Martin Brundle quizzed Alan Parmane from Renault on the grid about their lack of power. Alan looked like he was about to be hung!

Flav must be fuming.

Fair enough my mistake.

I'm going to have to disagree with you about the rule. It clearly denotes (to me) a choice can only be made from the list.

Good news: No broken leg as first reported for the injuried Ferrari mechanic. His foot hurts though, and he complains of back pain, but nothing serious.

Yay to that! 👍
