massa didn't even get a stop-go penalty? now thats a joke

Good news: No broken leg as first reported for the injuried Ferrari mechanic. His foot hurts though, and he complains of back pain, but nothing serious.

Yay to that! 👍

thats great news

A lot of irony going on here. Massa and Sutil in a pit incident and Raikkonen missing a red light.

It was actually amber. ;)

Roo
Firstly, it was Ferrari who was fined and not Massa, and secondly...

In other words, they don't have to.

So stewards can decide, at any moment, not to enforce the rules at all??

Hmm, that explains a lot of things....

I don't think that it is stated very clearly. It's open to interpretation. There is the issue with the may and what exactly counts as an incident? The stewards probably didn't want to penalize Massa much after Hungary either.

Can anyone tell me where i can watch the Grand Prix from yesterday online? Been looking for a while and since im in Australia i cant watch it from here :(

Until 2010 of course.

They should use the Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit for the European GP, everyone knows that's the best circuit ever made, even if it is a bit too bumpy for an F1 Car.

Uhh, not really the nurburgring is so tight that modern f1 cars wouldnt even be able to overtake. The Nordschleife is a good circuit to tour and try to post fast laps but racing and passing cars on it is close to impossible

Well i just finished watching the race. Actually I fast forwarded a lot of it. Nothing really excitng great race by Massa, Hamilton, Kubica and Vettel. I'm not a big Ferrari fan but I'm glad they didn't take the win from Massa. It's funny how things change during the course of a season. Earlier there were rumors going around that Ferrari might get rid of Massa but he has turned his season around. Poor Kimi I don't know what's going on with him.

Yeh, think that's what happened. They didn't want to pour salt on an open wound, especially with something so trivial and ambiguous.

But I say Kimi should've been penalized for that time he dragged that exaust along the track (forgot what GP it was...).

So it looks like Felipe Maasa got her done while Alonso was undone in the first lap. A past prediction was either Raikkonen or Hamilton. That guy was right about what colored car would win... but the wrong guy.

I didn't see the race. Just highlights. So on that accord, the track is truly fantastic to see racing at. I said in the past I'm a sucker for urban venues as well as tropical venues even with lots of water. Valencia was these things and more. I may now know Valencia for more than the permanent race course there. I can't say it was a good or bad race simply because I didn't get to see it.

In two weeks time, one of my personal favorite race tracks in the world will be raced. May even be one of YOUR favorites as well- the Grand Prix of Belgium at the always-challenging Spa-Francorchamps circuit. Can't wait for this bad boy!

Cool, well lets hope he can resume his job at the next GP..... ;)👍

Anyways, I can't wait for Spa either. Seems that track is the only interesting track not only because of many of its famous corner, but the weather there really could throw off many teams on their strategy. Last years race was really memorable when Alonso pushed Hamilton off line and both of them went through Eau Rouge side by side at full throttle..... (bud sadly, thats the only thing I could remember from that race right now. :indiff:)

Meh' they'll just need a new nosecone or 16.

Spa was very boring last year, hope it isn't the case this time around.

No, we don't have spare cars anymore. 1 car per driver, and a 3rd chassis if any parts are needed.

But Kimi led from lap 1 and Massa was 2nd, Alonso and Hami has a slight battle at Eau Rouge, but apart from that, and the Kovalainen battle there was nothing.

If you look only at the top, then I don't think you'll find a single interesting race last year - perhaps Canada. It's the midfield which makes or breaks a race, in my opinion.

Only looking at the top, I thought that Shanghai and Fuji were intersting races.

Spa is very much Kimi country. 3 time winner there, twice in a McLaren and last year.

I thought Japan was an interesting race, all due to rain but it still made for an interesting race.

I can see why people say this was a boring race. The drivers were probably playing it safe by not making any risky moves before "breaking in" the new track.

Yeah, Kimi has won the last 3 races at Spa. His performance there this year will probably be the deciding factor as to whether Ferrari get fully behind Massa as their title challenger or not.

Again it'll be down to luck on Massa's part. Decent scores at Spa and Monza will see the Massa camp grow, whereas one DNF and small amout of points, its well open.

Or, it's not much of a track as far as overtaking goes. The differences between the racing-line and the rest of the track are enormous here - you can clearly see "the line" while they race there. The differences between the regular road tarmac and the grippy racing line were huge - when Heidfeld tried to pass Glock during qualifying, he just slid off the track. The walls nearby are the same as a gravel-trap - get on them, you're done.

A bit of a late post from me considering it was yesterday but I wasnt particularly excitied during that race at all. No doubt Bernie will defend it like it was one of the best in the Calender, he only cares about atmosphere it seems. 👎

Its a shame because I was really excited about the new track aswell.:indiff:

As said, it's just too dirty a track. You could see the dust getting kicked up at pit-stops and marbles have nowhere to go on street tracks.

Wouldn't that just make incidents more probable?

If you stick on the racing line, no. As the racing line will get progressively cleaner. But once you start going off the racing line things will get quite difficult I imagine.
