2011 German Grand Prix

See I don't know if this years car is all the great compared to last years or if the top three have just leaped that much further from last year. Rosberg had more Podium finishes than this year which he has none. I just don't see the car by merc-gp being better than last year. I do see Shumacher running a bit better but that's just me.

Yeah, on the evidence there I'd have to agree. I feel believe it or not that Force India might very well crawl into a tidy position within the end of the season and next year, I just have a feeling they'll progress more and more. As for Schuey I'm not sure who he'd have to go to but with Mercedes I don't see much happening (watch them win the constructors next year now)

Well I'm not going to agree or disagree with you for sake of your argument, both sides are annoying to be quite honest. And I'm not a Vettel basher so not really no comment there other than that, but to be honest and think most will agree if you believe in Vettel and you enjoy him than those who dont shouldn't really phase you.

To be honest anytime a new team comes in I really want to see them grow and do well in the sport so that we have even great racing to follow cause all teams are being innovative. I think 2014 will allow this to some extent with turbo engines and I truely hope that Force India become a stronger team, but I've been really wanting this since they started.

Closed cockpits are themselves dangerous in that they restrict the exit of the drivers from the cars. While a driver can strap out of his car in about 5 seconds now, they'll have the extra task of removing a roof, something that can't be done quickly and will be hazardous in case of fire, or if the drivers is injured from the crash, marshals won't be able to get him out easily. Then there's climate control in the cockpit, and visibility due to glare of sunlight or rain, or dust, dirt, etc.

If they're dangerous than why are there LMP cars?....those cars are driving in Le Mans etc...also if mcnishs crash was in an F1 open cockpit style car I'm sure the condition of the driver might have been different...

People have this notion that if you close the cockpits that it is the death of F1 not everyone has this but it seems like a good number do. This is just what I've seen from this Forum and actual fully devoted F1 forums. But the teams not the FIA came up with the three ideas present at this weekends GP, so teams and drivers are interested in closed cockpits or other metods of driver safety.

EDIT: I should actually say that the teams were further interested in the closed cockpits, the FIA actually ran the first test with the idea.

EDIT2: Also I agree with you kk20 but I do understand why a few have concerns over this.

Webber's going to brake as late as possible at the first corner and take a outside line in an attempt to gain track position for the left hander, he just needs to get a decent wheel spin free start to achieve it.

LMP cockpits are much larger. This would literally be a bubble encasing the drivers head, if it was any larger it would require a major redesign of F1 cars that would make them completely unrecognisable. Plus F1 cars are faster than LMP cars and tend to break easier under impacts. It's at risk of the wheels crushing it in over the driver during big accidents.

He won't. :D

Whoever was on about the Mercedes, they're pretty much the same as last year, maybe slightly quicker in qualifying and slightly slower in the race compared to the top 3 but they seem to still be around the same gap off.

Rosberg was only getting podiums due to the fact there was a lot more retirements last season, or through strategy, but the Mercedes wouldn't really deliver on raw pace. That being said, he could have won in China earlier this year and it would have been due to pace. If he had matched Hamilton's strategy he would have had a great chance at winning, however that's as close as Mercedes were to looking like a frontrunner except maybe Turkey qualifying.

This is true ^ and it was me that was going on about it, I was just trying to go off memory really, but yeah you're right about the retirement thing. I still agree that the car isn't that far better from last years I hope Merc Gp surprise us next year. Even though I'm a Hamilton/Button fan I actually wanted to see Rosberg get his first win and was hoping, then when he didn't have the pace I was just hoping for a podium.

Mercedes appear to not have developed as much so they won't have a chance at getting a podium in regular conditions. Maybe if we have another Montreal-esqe race however.....

Does someone have a link to a quali download? Would be greatly appreciated (free car in gt5 if you want), just pm me please, thx in advance....

I recommend the OneHD feed. If you are Australian and can tolerate a) idiotic commentary, and b) frequest crashes of the Adobe Flash Player.

Where is it`? Link?
http://one.com.au/motorsport-live-streaming.htm

Bear in mind that you may need an Australian IP to be able to access it. The broadcast starts one hour before the race; they usually have a pre-race show that is full of "expert" (read: pro-Webber, pro-Ricciardo) analysis. I recommend tuning in early, if only because the flash player will crash a few times (at least it does for me) before you can get a mroe-permanent connection established.

not sure for live coverage here in U.S. i know Fox will show at 1pm EST, not sure about speed though but if speed shows it live then i will watch otherwise i stay away from the board till i watch the race even if it is already prerecorded :) i want to find out by watching instead of reading who won lol

GP2 will be live early in the morning here in the states, but speed will not be showing F1 at all and the coverage will be on Fox, when it is in Fox it is only on Fox race wise unless speed says otherwise.

EDIT: From what I see the only live Fox race is the Canadian GP not sure about the others.

To everyone asking, it will NOT be live in the US, at least on television. If you want it live, you have to go to the interwebz. Speed will not air the race until around Tuesday. Otherwise you can catch the replay on Fox, and if by some chance there is a rain delay like Canada, you can probably bank on it being edited out. Canada was live so they stuck with it, but I would bet they'll trim up a replay if it goes long.

Thank you.

On topic: I must say, Hamiltons lap was INSANELY good! It was...perfect, yes, perfect, almost wish him the win now...

I'm ready for this GP. I personally have found the weather problemed GP's this year to be very entertaining. Calling for a bit of rain possibly during race time, so it'll keep the teams and the fans on edge. Good stuff.

Where on the internet can Americans watch it.

You could download and install a UK VPN which would fool the BBC website into thinking you're in the UK. I use one whenever I'm in the States to watch Sky and BBC TV on my laptop. There are a few out there with monthly rentals, about £6 a month. You might find one cheaper if you dig deep. I think most will let you try it out for one month to start just to see if it works for you.

Worth a look if you do it regularly. :)

With the blown diffuser back, I firmly believe that Mclaren, followed by Ferrari have the fastest race pace.

Hamilton, Alonso then a Red Bull, then Button close behind in 4th. The other Red Bull will have got a drive through and be in the lower scoring points positions.

My predictions are always wrong anyway, but it's fun to make them.

EDIT: Wow you guys in the states have it pretty bad. In the UK we have live coverage on FP1-3, Quali and the race, with pre-race shows and a post-race analysis forum, all free. No wonder F1 is struggling to break into the North American market.

Tell me about it. We get lame coverage no matter what. :grumpy:

EDIT: What time does the race actually begin? in Eastern time, please.
