It does sound bizarre I know because of how good Stoner was compared to Nicky. However, Ducati are massive in the US and needed Nicky to do well. Now it is a completely different story of course.

It seems that Dovi has/will sign a 2 year deal with Ducati according to Italian press. We might also see Redding and Iannone in the satellite team which will work more closely with the factory.

I can't wait for 2012 to be over, I want to see the Jorge and Vale duels again. :) Marquez will be there to, hopefully he can get involved aswell. It would be nice to see Cal have a chance on the factory Yam but I don't think he could outscore Lorenzo, Rossi is probably the only rider out there that could outscore him over the course of a season on that bike.

Talking about Stefan Bradl who has stepped up to the MotoGP class this year, Stoner said: "Bradl has had a couple of decent results, but I made mistakes in those races so maybe things have looked a little better than they are really."

I don't think he's saying anything unreasonable there to be honest.

Maybe not, I don't know much about Marquez so can't really comment on him but were the comments necessary? He just can't help taking pot shots at people, and he's had plenty of digs at Rossi who is no doubt the greatest rider of all time. Yes Rossi is at the end of his time and but there is no denying the service he has given the motogp.

Stoners won 2 championships, and before that spent a lot of time crashing. Sure he has talent, but I think his ego gets the better of him. I won't miss the whinging, that's for sure

That depends - would Crutchlow want to subject himself to an underperforming bike simply for the sake of racing for a factory team?

It's the between the lines stuff, mostly it's the "tone"...

I'll miss the rider, but definitely not the character.

When compared to this:

...it's just a whole different level. Primadonna vs Greatness.

If Stoner was in the same position he'd be trashing the bike, the team, FIM, DORNA and what not. Even if ironically, sarcastically or "between the lines".

Rossi apologized. Sincerely IMO

👍

I know Jorge isn't worried about vale, but once you ride a ducati and then move on to something else, lol anthing else I figure you will ride the hell out of that bike like what happen with Stoner!

Like hornet_burnout, I'll miss Stoner the rider. Stoner the character..... no chance.

"Obviously he doesn't want to put the effort in with Ducati. I just feel completely sorry for Ducati that Valentino has gone there and done nothing but complain about the bike for almost two years. The amount of times that guy has had to eat his words is not funny, but people still forgive him for it.”

He's been recognizing failure for a while now, and finally he did it publicly and apologized... Maybe that's why people forgive him.

And still like him, instead of just putting up with him.

You can't leave soon enough for me Mr Stoner...

Is this confirmation that Dovi is off to Ducati?
Seriously though you can all stop asking about me riding the red bike …, it’s not avaliable to ride ! So I won’t be riding it …

Casey really is whining like a little girl nowadays. I'm not sure if I saw it correctly, but didn't he call Rossi a quitter? Hello pot. Meet kettle.

I mean really, does he want to go out with a bang or kicking and screaming like a spoiled child?

Also, this "Rossi does nothing but complain" rubbish is exactly what he's doing. Complaining about MotoGP riders, bikes and so on, he needs to grow up and get on with riding.

Exactly. "Rossi has done nothing but complain for 2 years" he said. While he may have a slight point, he has done nothing but complain himself for a lot longer! If there's one thing I can't stand its hypocrites.

To be fair, Stoner has found the time to do other things.

Like, for instance, marginalising the achievements of others - such as when he said Bradl did well in one race, but because Stoner retied, the result wasn't really representative.

This moto3 qualy red flag with 23s to go was really stupid...

As was Alex Marquez himself. Not for his crashes but for blocking Oliveira :dunce:

Hope Faubel can race tomorrow!

MotoGP qually:

Violent high side fom Stoner at 8mins. Asked for stretcher... Couldn't get up.

Red flag. Piece of Stoner's Honda wheel on track. Tyre was snapped out. Pretty destructive tumble.

Still, looked ok but complaining about serious ankle pain.

"X-ray confirms right leg broken and needs surgery. At least 2 races out" (journo on twitter)
Tv info says torn anckle ligaments...

High side for Spies, walks away.

Same for Hayden, tries to ride it out but gets thrown forward and remains still on the floor after a slide. Only movement was his breathing... Scary this one. Guess he was nock out for a moment there, but thumbs up when entering ambulance.

Rossi has a couple moments, opens arms, stares at back tyre.

Pedrosa gets pole.

Stoner did complain about grip... But I guess coming from him, it was takn as just another whigne?

This track is definitely taking no prisioners... Too many crashes. Drivers say you can't "feel" the grip and get taken out suddenly.

Qualy ruined by that left hander where everyone was losing grip, I would of liked to have seen what Spies was capable of. I bet he wished he hadn't of pitted on that fast lap.

Update: Spies ok, Stoner still tbd, Hayden out with a concussion (cat scan ok) and two fractured bones in right(?) hand. Apparently has no memory of crash. When he got to medical centre and saw Stoner he thought they had crashed together.

How was moto2? Couldn't catch it...

Wow, looks like a pretty brutal quali for all classes.

Moto2 was spared any big crashes - Pol, Marquez, Crazy Joe on the front row.

I saw Barbera's practice crash (high side which threw him over the front of the bike) which has ruled him out with fractured vertebrae :scared:. Looked eerily like Rainey's one, prelim scans have ruled out neurological damage.
