McLaren should throw this car away and run an undated version of their 2012 car.

It would be easier than trying to make a slow car into a fast one.

It probably wouldn't be a bad idea (well it proably would be in reality though) at this point lol, considering that they don't seem to have a very solid grasp of how to fix or develop the current platform.

One thing that's really had me scratching my head is why they ever went to the high nose just for this year, when next years regulation will require a much lower nose. It seems to me like the mp4/28 would have had enough room for development against this years opposition, without having to go to a clean slate as they have done, getting completely lost in the process (as they have so often done in recent years), while likely wasting a lot of resources trying to pull themselves out of this lost cause.

IMO their priorities are all wrong - Instead of going to the high nose as they did this year, they should have concentrated on the suspension compliance of their cars (and how this relates to aero), as I feel next years turbo cars will likely have relatively nasty torque curves and throttle response, which will require solid rear mechanical suspension design in order to look after these crap Pirelli's - even moreso since the effectiveness of the EBD will likely be drastically reduced with single exit exhaust.

It's a shame to think that one of Red Bull, Ferrari, Lotus and Mercedes will finish 4th in the championship possibly worse. They all look so good in their own ways.

I think I am more looking foward to the GP2 race tomorrow than the f1.

What a great drive by Frijns and Dillman today lol

I am too. The feature race was amazing. One of the best GP2 races I've ever seen. Watching 8 cars going in 2 pairs of 3 cars and a pair of 2 through that last chicane was insane.

Nico didn't even need to go out again, just like last time. If he can stay ahead of Lewis in the first few laps, and not lose too much time in the pits, he could win. Fingers crossed.

Anyway, this was one of the most exciting qualis I can remember. The closest ones were Monaco and Valencia last year.

I wonder what Rosberg's race pace will look like because he looked quicker than Lewis in Bahrain Q3 but he ate his tyres.
Rosberg ate his tyres in Bahrain because from start to finish, he was either fighting with someone or running in dirty air on heavy fuel. Then he had to manage his fuel in his last stint. If you look at the first 3 races, his race pace was just as fast if not faster than Hamilton's.

If they get a good start they will be pretty much impossible to overtake on track, Brawn may return the favour to Nico and tell Lewis to try and keep them back. Should be a good race with the top 10 as it is.
That will never happen.

Great result for the 2 McLaren drivers. We'll have a great race tomorrow!
How were Jenson's laps great? I like him but it's always bothered me how his performance just deteriorates if he doesn't like the car.

If Brawn really wants to return the favor he should ask Hamilton not to crash into Nico in the first lap tomorrow. I got a bad feeling this might happen.

I think the penalties for Massa and Gutierrez are unfair. They should've just been reprimanded. Their incidents didn't affect the results.

Today in Sky sports F1 I heard of the possibility of Kimi go to Red Bull Racing next year. That would be great!

Kimi, my favorite driver would put Vettel in his place. :D

I think you meant Mercedes drivers... :sly:

Spy.

Why are you thinking that there is conspiracy behind everything. If you can't figure out why Brawn said that the position were freezed in Malaysia then maybe you need to try and understand a bit what pressure he have on his shoulder and how important the result was for Mercedes.

Hamilton is clean with his teammate, just look at how many overtake there's been between him and Button and they never had a single incident.

I think you're underating Vettel a lot. But I sure hope he's gonna get a competitive teammate next year, so we can see if he's really that good. I personnaly believe he's on the same caliber as the other champs (Alonso, Raikkonen and Hamilton). He just didnt had the chance to prove it yet. Hell you dont get 3 world title like that. If Vettel really suck that bad, what do you think about Mark Webber then ?

With Brawn everything is some sort of a conspiracy to be honest. If he wanted both his cars to hit a home run in Malaysia, he could've done it by ordering Lewis to let Nico go. That, and the fact that he did clearly imply he granted Lewis the number one spot in his negotiations with him on more than one occasion.

Hamilton/Alonso was never clean and I remember him and button coming together twice. The memorable one was in Canada I think. This really doesn't have to do with a conspiracy, I've always thought Hamilton was too aggressive and stubborn on the track, worse than Maldonado. I know I'm getting **** for saying this but it really is why I don't like him.

Btw that wasn't me that made the comment about Vettel.

Frijns is surely a no-brainer for the Sauber seat next year. The only thing he's not done yet is win the GP2 championship - and he shouldn't even need to do that all things considered!

Yep, thats a pretty spectacular crash!

Delighted for Mercedes...looks like Hamilton has made the right decision after all!

Just imagine how disconsolate Hamilton would be now at McLaren.

I do wonder if they'd have risked a new car with Hamilton still there though, maybe they would and Hamilton saw more false promises coming.

Just hope Mercedes don't go backwards for the first part of the race. Anyway, impressive to get a front row at this sweeping circuit.

20 years ago you would be 100% correct about Lowe. Then a designer designed the car.

Now it's a team effort in the design department. I'm sure the rest of the design staff have a great enough understanding of the car to continue development.

But Lowe was the technical director; he led the design and development direction and philosophy of the car. I doubt he has quite as much creative freedom as Adrian Newey has, but he was still the guy making the big design decisions.

That said, I just read a something which directly contradicts my theory on Paddy Lowe being the source of their success last year:

Jenson Button
Having Tim Goss in the position is fantastic. He is the guy who designed the 2012 car that won seven races last year so he knows what he's doing.

Had his chance. Blew it. Won't get another. Joins the long list of nearly men, like Irvine, Barrichello, Patrese, his career may finish the opposite the way Herbert's did - by leaving F1 for LMP1 racing.

It wouldn't surprise me if RBR did move towards joining the WEC eventually. Then they could pull out of F1 entirely.

Well obviously he's only raced 2 weekends! :P

Todays race was crazy in the last few laps, to much tyre saving them booooom!

I feel bad for Canamasas, he was driving a great race but got took out by a car he wasn't even battling with. It all came from Cecotto defending with a wrecked car though.

Look at that, Nando in the stands!
I'd bet Blondie wouldn't dare.

Look at Horner squirm!
GROW A PAIR!

In Canada it was Button fault not Hamilton. I dont remember the other one so can't tell. As for Hamilton vs Alonso it's another things. They couldnt stand eachothers. He's friend with Rosberg since before they started in F1. Not the same relationship here.

Yeah but no because Brawn didnt know Lewis good enough in Malaysia. It's safer to freeze position than ordering someone to let overtake and **** happen. At least that's what I think, to be clear, I dont support team strategy that early in the season but it's understandable. Can you link me to an article where he clearly imply that Lewis is n°1 ? On a major autosport website ?

And I know that you didnt write the Vettel comment, I never said it was you.

I'm quite excited for the GP. For me Brawn didnt seems that confident. Nor is Rosberg now. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. I hope it's gonna be a good race.

Everyone is talking a out Mercedes and how their rear tires wear too fast on the inside edge. Seems like a simple problem to me. Just run less camber. It should be an easy fix. But they have had that same issue in Bahrain and now Barcelona.
