I don't think its was an overreaction on my part just a comment to a reply about Audi's pace at the moment. I dont usually overreact and I've been watching racing 20 years now and am well aware of test times vs actual race times,

Well for someone who is watching motorsports for 20 years I find your comment few post above even more suprizing.

Anybody watching the qualy? What the hell happened to the Mercs? All the ones who dropped out in Q1 are Mercs.

Great drive by Tambay to get the pole for Audi. BMW looking very strong for the race tomorrow with 3 cars in top 5.

Very impressed with the rookie Felix Da Costa sticking it in 3rd in his first qualy. This guy can drive.

Mercs looking awfully slow atm, they need to sort this as soon as possible. It's hurting the brand if they're dead last in DTM even if they are dominating F1 this season.

Rocky and Farfus have some work to do tomorrow, should be fun.

Usually YouTube airs the DTM races right away so I will sit back & relax and watch the this 1st round plus the qualifier!

Only just caught the race. Obviously I'm pleased with the result (a BMW win and 5 Bimmers in the top 10), but the race wasn't the most exciting, and BMW's performances in the pits weren't great, especially for Maxime. Congrats to Marco.

But seriously, what's happened to Mercedes!

Well it seems Mercedes aren't taking it laying down...

HWA Mercedes and CEO Gerhard Ungar part ways
HWA CEO Gerhard Ungar has left the squad with immediate effect, after a disastrous start for Mercedes-Benz in the 2014 DTM season, with Pascal Wehrlein claiming the marque’s best result last weekend at Hockenheim with 11th.

HWA Gmbh have confirmed in a statement that Ungar will no longer be working for the team, and thanks him for his 26-year service to the company. Ungar was the technical director of the HWA Mercedes-Benz team since 2000 and joined the management board in 2006.

His rapid departure is put down to the troubled start for the Mercedes team in Hockenheim. Seven of the teams cars occupied the bottom ten positions after qualifying, and the best result in the race was for Pascal Wehrlein, with the 19-year-old progressing forward four places to 11th, which means Mercedes leaves the first race of the season without a point on the board.

HWA Gmbh have confirmed that the group’s Chief Financial Officer, Ulrich Fritz, who joined HWA just six months ago from Mercedes-AMG, will assume the role temporarily until a new CEO is appointed.

Is DTM really about funding? As @TiredTyres is always so keen to point out, underneath the bodywork, the cars are pretty similar. They have some reasonably proven talent behind the wheel of their cars, and I find it difficult to believe they just don't care.

CBS Sports Network has picked up the DTM broadcasts along with Blancpain GT starting this Sunday at 6pm EST.

Di Resta gone off a bit there. Starting to rain.

EDIT - Jeez that escalated quickly.

Pretty convoluted race wasn't it? Still shocked at a Merc being able to grab victory.

That was an unusual race. Only got to watch it yesterday. I don't understand why they blocked the live stream in Poland as it wasn't anywhere on TV.

Yeah, DTM on YouTube has been great so far, now with the extended Geo-blocking it's frustrating. Fortunatley I can get it in the UK on BT Sports which I get for free with my broadband, so that's good... failing that, I believe there are extensions available for Google Chrome that quite handily get around Geo blocking... ... ;)

There's also the Sportschau channel which is 'legit', but I'm not sure if that's geo-blocked anywhere or not.

Yeah I will be better prepared for the next race.

I could watch the race on Youtube in Japan, but not in 'Merica.
