Then there is a restart smash needing a restart, than another until only the victor remains.
Pastor will love this.... Did NASCAR somehow take control of F1? They just keep on changing things that do not need changing. Good lord, the sport is getting more gimmicky by the day (literally),what will we see next? Bernie's sprinklers, green white checkers, chase for the championship, exploding cars, debris being hurdled at the drivers, sloths driving, what the hell, it's like children are running the joint when in reality it's an 80+ year old sleazy troll, any one remember this:

Interesting session, could make for a good race tomorrow. I doubt they'll win but can the Williams finally make the most of their pace and get some good results. I hope so, they've thrown away far too many points this year, some their own doing, some others.

Hamilton spin was odd, the rear just got away from him suddenly. Still driver error or not, the first lap error shows he's feeling the pressure. Be interesting to see what he can do tomorrow, I would expect him to get back to the podium but unlikely to beat Rosberg, unless he has a problem. First corner may be interesting.

Will be really interesting to see how Nico approaches the start, he could try and stay out of trouble and extend his lead, if however Mercedes are as strong as they usually are then he'll probably want to pass the Williams' in case Lewis flies up behind him.

And then, there's this: "Formula 1 to switch to standing restarts after safety cars in 2015."
I don't know whether this is good or not.

I don't like it. It's bad enough now that a lead a driver has worked so hard for is squandered just because of some idiot crashing out in the midfield. Standing restarts will be more dramatic, particularly if there are position changes as a result of the restart, but it will be artificial.

Vettel's at the limit, but he looks like he's almost coasting through Turn 6. You can tell because he's got all the time in the world to set himself up for Turn 7, whereas everyone else has to fight it.

Hmm, someone has been playing a lot of GT5.

Still, I don't have a PS3, which explains why I didn't get the joke.

Sorry, was mostly for my own amusement. Basically, in GT5 a large number of the fast GT players were entering and going through corners with coasting instead of trail braking, because of the crappy and exaggerated grip model which punished players for entering a corner with brakes applied. Some guys did manage to be pretty quick with trail braking and using throttle through the corners however.

The joke is that Vettel got so used to GT physics in his involvement with the game that he started applying the same coasting techniques to real life racing.

It's a bit of an obscure reference, to be fair. :D

Hamilton's spin looked like way too much rearward brake bias, and him trying to get everything out of the lap considering it was his last shot at a lap time in the session.

Watching qualifying, I really like the circuit, and I hope Red Bull don't feel the need to extend it. Sure, it would be nice to see Sebring-Auspuff reintegrated into the layout, but I don't see how that could be done without killing the appeal of the circuit. There was the proposed 'Westerschliefe' extension that got a lot of positive reactions, but in retrospect, I think it added too many slow corners.

But I also think that there has been a trend towards complexity in recent designs, with circuits having twenty-odd corners and similar lengths. Sometimes, it works wonders, like Silverstone (the old Bridge complex was horrible, and didn't fit the spirit of the rest of the circuit), but other times, like the Nürburgring, it's terrible. The Red Bull Ring stands out for its short length and deceptively-simple layout, and I don't think that should be sacrificed for the sake of shoehorning one corner back in.

Enjoying a return to this track, puts the drivers to the test. So interesting to watch this track onboard.

Hamilton had lots of time in the bag on Massa but blew it. I think his hasty side has lost him a couple of driver championships and it could lose him this years too.

Wasn't long ago he was rueing the fact he didn't put in an early banker lap. Also its better not to show how fast you can be in every corner if you don't have to and save it for the race. Others can study your super fast quali lap.

I don't think it was a case of being too hasty. Hamilton is quick, and does have an impetuous streak, but at the same time, I think people are far too quick to accuse him of throwing results away by trying too hard. This isn't like 2011, when he was simply trying too hard to push through his frustrations. Rather, he has been extremely focused this year, so I think his spin was just a case of hitting a wayward bump and locking the tears.

I was checking the grid

1F Massa (BRA)Williams1'08.759
2V Bottas (FIN)Williams1'08.846
3N Rosberg (GER)Mercedes1'08.944
4F Alonso (ESP)Ferrari1'09.285
5D Ricciardo (AUS)Red Bull1'09.466
6K Magnussen (DEN)McLaren1'09.515
7D Kvyat (RUS)Toro Rosso1'09.619
8KM Räikkönen (FIN)Ferrari1'10.795
9LC Hamilton (GBR)Mercedes-
10N Hülkenberg (GER)Force India-

Trying to guess how will the start unfold (from grid slots to corner 1 exit, after I don't risk guessing) . Here's what I think:

Massa (usually a good starter) won't be in trouble to keep the lead.

Bottas may be in danger of losing 2nd place to Rosberg or Alonso but my bet is that he'll keep it.

Rosberg has improved his starts lately, but he's not an expert. My bet is that he will lose 3rd to Alonso.

Alonso is perhaps the greatest "starter" now, my guess is that he will take 3rd from Rosberg, (with a view on second, but it's just too much)

Ricciardo will keep his position

Magnussem will lose a position to ...
Kvyat, up to 6th

Raikkonen will lose a position to ...

Hamilton, up to 8th
Hulkenberg will keep jis place.

So, in F1's usual layout here's my bet

Massa =
Bottas =

Alonso ^1
Rosberg -1

Ricciardo =

Kvyat ^1
Magnussem -1

Hamilton ^1
Raikkonen -1

Hulkenberg =

just saw the starting grid... I guess I'll have to pull myself away from the Ring and watch this. :nervous:

Poor old Seb, I genuinely feel sorry for him. Martin Brundle said 'He should give Mark Webber his car back'!
