Do we know who is broadcasting the races?

Still nothing on that (Guessing the deals are still being sorted out there). Interestingly thought for the final season of both series seperately, Speed Will broadcast both the 12 Hours of Sebring and the Petit Le Mans with ESPN carrying the other races for ALMS while Grand-Am continues its exclusive broadcast of then entire Grand-Am Schedule.

The rich people involved in sports car racing drinking Patron and wearing Rolexes are running out of things they like to sponsor their series...maybe they can get it sponsored by Cuban cigars? 👍

I'm wondering if they're going to have Rolex continue to sponsor it or not

I wouldn't mind Patron sponsoring, after all the CEO is sort've a big contribution to this merger even happening.

I don't know if the ban on tobacco advertising in America applies to foreign tobacco products. So I wouldn't get your hopes up if I were you.

I would assume it applies to foreign ones and I would be willing to bet it especially applies to Cuban ones.

Hehe sorry for my deadpan humor. Yes it would probably be difficult and unethical to sponsor sports car racing in America on the labor of Cuban cigar workers... :P

Nice one. Okay after this I'm done horsing around, I promise...

IMSA? I need the americans here to help out explaining this ...

International Motor Sports Association.

This is going to be the sanctioning body for this new series.

3 NASCAR people on the board of directors?

Since none of them Are Brian, Its not bad.

But but what is IMSA? A motorsports association/club, like the ACO or the RAC? They mentioned it as a sanctioning body.

EDIT - I see. I thought IMSA was the name of the series, now I understand. USCR it is.

Name is meh. United Sports Car Championship has a nicer ring to it imo. I'll probably just keep calling it Grand-ALMS.

We can pretty much guarantee Sebring, Daytona, and COTA. Watkins Glen and Road Atlanta seek like high priorities as well.. The rest is pretty much wide open.

Lime Rock has hosted both Grand Am & the ALMS for years, so in that sense, it's a shoe in. And it's pretty much the only circuit in the Northeast (Baltimore & Watkins not withstanding). But it's small size and limited accessibility work against it.

I'd hate to see it go but the fact of the matter is, some of the venues from both series are going to get the shaft. And it wouldn't surprise me if Lime Rock is one of them.

Ok, more questions directed at the american fans. I know close to nothing about the Grand-Am cars, but if the DP class is going to race togeher with LMP2 class, doesn't that mean both classes will be "balanced" (don't know which is quicker) ? That will need the ACO's involvement right? Or will LMP2 (US) become different from the LMP2 (EU) ?

Same question about GT cars. I understand that keeping a class called GT LM (as in "Le Mans") means a connection to the ACO still exists, but which GT class will be faster or more "PRO oriented? the GT-LM or the GT-D ?

EDIT - Atherton just replied to my LMP2 question :D
