The official test are listed as Nov 16-17 Sebring,Nov 19-20 Daytona.Magnus tested the new 911 GT America and the rumored Mazda P diesel ran somewhere (Sebring) yesterday.

Connect the dots here. According to a tweet on John Daygs sportscar365 feed Scott Pruett and Team Ganassi are both following Ford Racing on twitter, and Ford has a press conference scheduled for Tues.Nov 5th at the SEMA show.

Spoiler alert: Ganassi has switched to Ford Power.

The significant and the magnitude of the changes that are being performed for the DP cars are catching a number of team out of pace or resources. From reports the entries are going to be low, a possibility of 11 to 14 to a minimum of 8. It’s doesn't look good for the merger of the P2 DP classes.

We already know that Ganassi is running the Ford Ecoboost V6 next season.

Where did you hear this? As far as I know, it's going to be a capacity field/class.

Err no:

I've updated the car count for the USCC and it's looking like all races will be at maximum pitlane capacity. Can't wait for the November test and the Roar Before the 24. :D

The volume of the GT cars may be larger if teams continue to enter. Teams in some cases are finding GT class for inviting as a whole, a number of European and four Japaneses teams are thinking of opening a base within the states, partnered with whom ever site they be using in the mean time of course.

Source?

I think entries are already pretty full.

Other forms, news sources and friends. The field may seem full but all entries in the GT classes are tentative.

Some very interesting things I've just noticed on USCR's new website. First, Muscle Milk Pickett Racing is listed as a PC team, and secondly, Lamborghini is one of USCR's partners.

EDIT: Actually, the Lamborghini partner may be due to the support sires.

That's because IMSA runs the North American Lamborghini Super Trofeo series.

All of those 68 entries are yet to be solid. Those 68 entries are teams that are willing and that have put there teams in. There still a number of other matters that those teams must deal with @Furinkazen.

I read the same thing @Sam48. There are a total of 68 teams looking to enter, which is not saying that all 68 will be able to. It's clear the first hand full of races will have a small field.

I believe you mean 68 cars, not teams. And if you read what I read, at the very minim, there are 11 Prototype entrants, not a minimum of 8. And with many Euro teams and undecided US teams looking to enter, you can be sure there will be more than that.

It's clear the first hand full of races will have a small field.

The first two races just happen to be the two biggest sportscar races in North America, and you're telling me there will be a "Small field"? They didn't put out a class cap for nothing. In fact, many Euro teams fear they will be turned away by IMSA as they must allow their full season entrants the spot beforehand.

Yes I meant 68 cars, not teams. Yes I read the same as you but I dug a little further and found out the there will be a minimum 8 not 11 as reported, even though that still stands the minimum for the class is 8. As I commented before teams are having trouble gathering the needed resources to open shop in the states that are based overseas. Yes they are a number of European teams bidding to get in for the main season. The first two races are a largest races of the year in NA, of course those races will have a large field, its not saying the others will.

Where are teams having trouble with resources? They wouldn't have placed an entry and also the majority are US based to begin with.

Lots of teams have resources, but the rules have come out so late that teams are having to scramble to figure out what they're going to do. That's why there aren't huge numbers already. The class cap will be the primary hinderance since the DP rules have been updated

US based teams aren't having any trouble having gaining resources or available sites. I’m speaking of teams that aren’t US based; obtaining the sites and resources in such a short time may be daunting for those teams, will not know until news on that is shared; if shared at all. Teams as of now that are based in Europe or elsewhere are working overtime to get operations done without issue, have the cars ready let alone the logistics.

I'm really not sure I like this or not. Four colors, a different one for each class, was simple enough. No need to overcomplicate it. If they were trying to make it easier for the new and casual fans, they would have left it as it was. Now, people are going to think cars like the F458 and Corvette DP are racing each other because they look too similar.

If the image in the story is accurate, leader lights as numbers on the side like that will really confuse new fans. Wait, is he running in 3rd or is he number 03?

My issue is that and now teams who use this to differentiate between the team cars is out the window. There are ways to do this. I bet the guy who came up with this "brilliant" idea must have been welcomed with open arms.

Sounds like a decision made by committee. And they long ago fired the guy who would raise his hand and say, "That's a bad idea."
