Level 5 is expanding to LMPC, GT and launches a new customer program: The machinery will include two HPD ARX-03b cars, three new Oreca FLM09s, two new Ferrari 458 GT3 and two Lola P2 cars.

So...L5 has big plans for the next season. This is great news for the team!

Indeed, according to Sportscar365, they have 4 LMP2 cars, 3 PC cars, and 2-3 Ferrari GTD cars available to themselves and other teams.

That is one heck of a garage for a team that hasn't committed to anything for next season.

On top of that, they're considering running the the LMP1-Privateer category in the WEC.

Does anyone know anything about this team on the Sebring test entry list?

Nicolas Decrem,
They have raced every now and again in the alms. They've been a rumored entry in the LMP2 class for years.

Also marsh has a picture of their corvette DP on instagram now :)

I can see the Prototype Challenge class being strong on entries. I think it could be a good way for teams perhaps not used to the LMP2 to be introduced to the Le Mans Prototype car before possibly buying a full LMP2 car and graduating to the Prototype Class proper.

Muscle Milk is different of course. I see from the USCC website they were good in the ALMS and so they are well used to running the prototype racing car no doubt. But I bet a lot of the other teams haven't as much experience as they do of running an LM car so may benefit from running the Oreca-Courage FLM before venturing to buying something like the HPD-ARX-03.

So as much as a I love and believe in the Daytona Prototype, it might be time to start putting it on the Death Watch.

The only news I've heard about new Prototype teams has been coming from P2's. As far as I can tell, Marsh racing is the only new DP team, and even then it's an alliance with an existing team. A number of DP programs have either been dropped or are reduced or rumored to drop.

I believe Ganassi is expanding to a two car full season effort, but the rest are indeed downsizing or leaving all together.

Ganassi - Adds one car
Action Express - Dropped one car full season, will use two cars for NAEC
Team Sahlen - Gone
SOD - stagnent
8 Star - P2 switch and dropped one DP, kept the other
Starworks - P2 switch

Didn't Spirit Of Daytona have two DPs?

Also, could've sworn Wayne Taylor was bringing a second car this season.

SOD is a one car team as far as I know, and WTR was planning on a second car but the cost to upgrade was to much, so they decided to just stick with one.

SOD will be giving technical assistance to Marsh's DP, so it's sort of a second car, but the funding is coming from another person.

Theres one reason why I hope USCR's top class doesnt become all P2. And I think its a good one. A mix of DP and P2 WILL create good racing. If its all DP or all P2 then the cars are all going to have similar specs and performance, therefore passing will be more difficult. DPs and P2s are so different I dont see how they cannot create great racing. Their total lap times may be similar but I feel how they achieve that time will be very different.

That's what Michael Shank said before going on about nonsense about wanting fights and "havoc at the apex".

That's what puts asses in seats in America.

Also, Starworks announced on their Twitter that they're back running 1 DP :)

DP:
1 Ganassi
1 Starworks
2 SoD/Marsh
1 AXR
1 WTR
1 MSR
1 8Star
2nd AXR NAEC
1 Gainsco/Stallings NAEC
1 Highway to Help NAEC
Maybe Doran
Sahlen's-dead

Certainly thinned out the DP field, but I'm hoping and praying enough teams will come with LMP2s to have at least the cap of entries

I need to check my mail, I received an letter about a week ago from Ingo Lehbrink on the matter of BMW's announcing their planes in December on which platform they'll be using. He couldn't going into clear detail with me on the matter but he's stated people will be happy.

"Pickett Racing’s PC car mysteriously features a pair of Nissan GT Academy drivers, Bryan Heitkotter and Steve Doherty" - Sportscar365

Very interesting tid bit there

I wonder if some teams are holding off on 2 cars from the get go to see what actually happens after some testing and a race or 2. No sense in dumping all that money into upgrades to switch to a new car all together or maybe try a different game plan later.

I'm glad to see Bryan's name there, I honestly believe he is the best driver the GT Academy has ever discovered and yet hasn't really had the chance to show it. Hopefully this will give him the chance he deserves and will land him a drive with a solid and stable team.
