I can see and fully understand everybody's frustration with the new broadcast deal. I live in an area with a lot of hills and trees and Satellite just isn't an option. And my cable provider didn't offer an ESPN package that included access to ESPN3 for any price. So during the last few years, I missed a lot of live ALMS races. As a dedicated ALMS fan since it's inception and as somebody who regularly attended at least one race (or more) every year, I really felt like I was getting the shaft. There were ways to circumvent it and watch online with IP blockers or proxy servers, but it was often unreliable and maddening.
Luckily for me, I'm coming out ahead on this one. For once. About a week before last year's Petit, my provider suddenly offered Fox Sports 2 as part of some sports package but it only cost me an additional $5/month [EDIT: due to the packages I already have] . I was going to order it just for the Petit and then cancel, but then realized that FSP2 also showed 1 hour recaps of all the DTM/FIAGT/BTC races during the past season. They were on at odd times but I could just set a season pass on the DVR and I've been watching them one by one over the last few months. What's more, I have the Fox Go app on my phone so I'm pretty much set for the Tudor season. It's a different experience to be sitting on the other side of the fence this year.
