I did a 2:10.9xx with DS3, so it can be done. I've switched to the wheel now for the flat out advantage at Eau Rouge and Blanchimont (which is much fun to do) and so far I'm only .6 faster but i'm out of practice for hot lapping with the wheel and the lap was sloppy.

^^ Naw, I've made a couple red laps right now that were about .5s off gold. Just need to find ways to hit the gas earlier.

In the hands of an alien, 2:10 might be the best you can get with DS3, I reckon.

Need to find a heap more time in Malmedy & Rivage corners just can't seem to nail that section which is stopping me getting in to the sub .10's.
Good combo enjoying it but will spend some more time at weekend only managed 20mins yesterday.

Is it just me or does this spa seem the same but way different than the reqular non Gt academy spa?

^^ Wolf_Aono is doing like 250-260km/h through Eau Rouge. Most I've managed so far is maybe 190. I have yet to figure out how he's netting 60-70 extra km/h.

With a wheel Eau Ruoge is flat in 6th. I was popping out the top at 158mph (254kmh) but I've no idea where he's finding the rest of the time. Sitting on a 2'09.40 for 560th at the time of writing. Reckon there's another 0.5 in there for me...somewhere

It's funny. With each of these challenges, I've done one practice lap and on my second timed lap I crush the gold time by at least 2 seconds and get a good standing on the rankings. Still, those top times are just otherworldly.

I guess each time you push the steering "stick" it's winding on almost full lock for a split second, and when you let it off it's coming all the way back to centre, so you're constantly pushing the tyres past their grip threshold.
can you reduce the steering sensitivity or lock settings with a DS3?

I have never raced one lap of any GT without a wheel so it's a foreign concept to play a driving game with a controller.

you need a very long extension on the thumb-stick so you can use it like joystick!!

I think I know where Wolf_Aono's extra speed is coming from...

...La Source. He is blisteringly quick around that corner!

Eau Rouge/Radillion and Blanchimont are easy flat with a wheel- ideally you don't want to use anymore than about 30° of steering lock.

Had a quick run at this yesterday and netted a 2:08.649 which was horrendously sloppy through Rivage and no-name corner. Also got massively sideways exiting the Bus-stop. Ideally looking for a 2:07.

After a few hours...

The good: I barely snuck into the 2:07s after being stuck on the wrong side for much of the session.
The bad: Looking at the top replays, I'm seeing some adventurous drifting.

I did try drifting the car but the RJN the Zytek ain't. I'm getting a bad feeling that I may end up having to figure out how to if I want to gain another half a second. The splits weren't even there for it the way I was driving.

Can barely get into the high 2:11's with the DS3. I've stuck TC at 1 and that seems to make it smoother, but I simply can't get enough turn in for Eau Rouge and Blanchimont. I'm losing at least 1.5s in those two sectors alone. I'll try it with the wheel tonight but like @nowcontrol said, I'm out of practice and will take a couple of days to get the feel. Sooooo frustrating.....

2:08.8xx so far on a G25.

Sticking my best sector times together, I'd be in the 2:07's, but getting the lap right is tough.

The cones are really annoying through Radillon, Pouhon, Paul Frere and Blanchimont

I just set a 2:08.373, which as it stands is 10th in the UK/137th overall.

I'm sure I'll be able to improve on that if I tried (I lost at least a tenth from my best in the first sector alone) but I was proud of it because it's possibly the smoothest, least dramatic fast lap I've ever set  It felt good as I was doing it, but I crossed the line and thought "holy 🤬, I've just knocked six tenths off my previous best!"

This is getting annoying now, aiming for decent 2:08's but now realising that this car isn't working for me I'm just hoping to do A 2:08.xxx by the end of this round. I don't care if it's 2:08.999, as long as it isn't 2:09.005! So close to 2:08's and it's really really bugging me, for two reasons:
  1. I'll have a great gap, keeping up with TRL_EVOLUTION and TRL_IMMORTAL and towards the end of the lap (particularly Blanchimont) I'll make a silly mistake and put it on the grass.
  2. THOSE DAMN CONES!:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

Ralax brother. It's day 2. I feel the same but with the 2:07's. I've been in front of evolution on the way to a 2:07 many times going to bus stop but lose it.

It's cool. I know I'll get it, just will take more laps. Practice won't make us any slower

Well atleast its a good rabbit to chase lol, i mess everything up on the 2nd half of the lap though, there is a low 7 there if i tried more but i dont feel like it because the car is boring and it has some seriously wrong camber settings..

I think I may know how he's is doing it, if its not from raw talent alone. NO, he is not cheating, but I have to try something first before I say how it can be done at those speeds. Might be just because as said earlier, he is getting a hell of a run out of that first corner. Let me experiment a bit.

He's dropping it into 1st to get the car turned into T1 then he upshifts to 2nd, then 3rd in quick succession and gets better drive out

Well I had a go last night even though I was shattered, but I always like to get a time on the board. Very interesting combination and look forward to having a few more goes. Only wanted to get into the 2:07's for now being tired so here's the lap from day 1 a 2:07.987! The nice thing is I've been over 2 tenths up on that ghost in the first sector so there's an absolute ton of time in the laps yet!
