Just my opinion but relative to Brands Hatch, the cones are less of a bother. Heck, it's not that bad even compared to last year's combo with the RJN. The big difference is the Zytek has more relative grip, which makes traversing Eau Rouge and Blanchimont more an exercise of not scrubbing off speed instead of worrying about touching the cones. Also, the Zytek doesn't like going over the rumbles compared to the RJN. Les Combes/Malmedy was a huge problem area last year with cones but touching the curbing in that area can upset the Zytek.

there is three differences between wheel and ds3

- max turn angle : put two stock cars stopped, side by side, turn left or right at max
and see how much more angle have the car using a wheel
- traction control when turning : with a ds3 (TC deactivated "0") there is still some TC when turning
so you loose time in tight corner like la source
- turn in angle control (along with speed) : the faster you, the less turn in angle you'll have with a ds3 were a wheel is not affected by that
that's why in all those places (raidillon, the left after bruxelles, pouhon, paul frère and blanchimont) , you loose time
Thanks.

follow up

- Eau Rouge is not using anywhere near full steering lock on my DFGT and it's literally three distinct/ direct moves
.turn about 15' left, turn about 50' right, turn about 50' left. there's no time you're easing back on the wheel,
the car does push through there and you have to turn earlier than you would with a car you can tune,
i found the harder you make it change direction, the better the turn in.

i'll have a crack with the DS3 and see what it does feel like.

Got down to a 2:11.3 on the DS3 - the missus gave me half an hour grace last night!

As it's a bank holiday this weekend in the UK I've got 3 days off work so I'm gonna aim for a high 2:09 once I get used to the wheel again...

Oh dear, reading through this thread is very comical... Wolfs turn one is no mystery, he just blips it into 1st for the rotation then back into 2nd, he does the same in the bus stop.. and I'm not even going to comment on the DS3 through Eau Rouge ..
I've only had a quick blast, sat at 2'09.538, .3 behind Wolf at first sector...

Don't mean to laugh at your injury, it was just the way you said it that made it funny. 👍
No worries. I can feel it but it's not really affecting me.

Already have a video up on my YT channel of my example lap plus the new PB I ran right after. I just don't have notes ready. A big takeaway is that with an exception or two, the amount of steering angle you can use is the opposite of last round's RJN. It turns a fair amount with a little but making the fronts howl or even chirp should be avoided.

Wow. Plugged the wheel in for half an hour and went from 2:11.3 with the DS3 to 2:09.9 in 3 laps. Bring on the bank holiday weekend!

I have to say thanks to everyone who's giving tips on here, it's really appreciated and helps shave those tenths (if not seconds!) off.

I think I got a 2.10.xxx with the DS3 before I got frustrated with the understeer.

Changed to a wheel, and like you say, there's seconds (not tenths) to be gained and went down to a 2.09.2xx on Wednesday.

I knew there was more time in it and had another go today and got down to a 2.08.4 with still more time left.(red-lapped a 2.08.1:confused:).

I've got to within a second of Wolfie at the the Stavelot checkpoint and go to pieces panic braking at the bus stop chicane  but I'm getting more consistent across the lap so, I'm hoping a clean,quick-ish lap will come.

Good luck chipping away.

I hate this car. No feeling at all, can't tell if you're going to understeer off the track one corner and then spin out on the next one... And nothing I try can find those last few tenths to get gold.

It clearly is a car for wheel and pedals users, to which I say good luck and happy "Alien" hunting.

It definatly takes a bit of time. My best advice is watch one of the top guy's replays, and try to see what gear they're in for some of the corners. You might not be able to hold with the wheel guys through Eau Rouge, but a lot of the corners can be taken the same. You'd be suprised how quick you can drive this thing through some of the chicanes and hairpins with a DS3.

Also, the very last corner, give the emergency brake a quick tap to help rotate the car. Really helps if you're looking for three tenths or so. Good luck!

Well had a break yesterday as I knew I would be well rested today (Had a nice lie-in :D)! It meant I could have a decent go this evening and after my first hour session I quickly jumped on and this 2:07.410 came out of nowhere! My theoretical is in the 2:06's but even so after such a bad Eau Rouge I wasn't expecting much to be honest!

I did check wolfs replay tonight and I actually found it really interesting, there's quite a few things I do slightly different! It is only slight but never the less it is different (Gear changes mainly, and also braking in some corners which I've been playing with)! First sector I've been a tenth up tonight so there's definitely a lot of time there still!

Here's the lap anyway which will be a far better reference for most than the last one I posted up haha!

Edit: Also just noticed Samurai is using a wheel now ? I'll be honest I think a Japanese player may take rank 1 this year now they are officially competing, a lot of players seem to be way up there!

Yeah, I noticed Samurai on a wheel too, I only checked his details as I was curious if he got that time with a pad, but no.

Yep, the Japanese are bossing the Top 10 at the moment.

Maybe because the weather setting is different?
No not weather.
Yea, that's what I was thinking too but I also thought he may be employing another trick :sly: on his run up through Eue Rouge to get such good speed through there.

EDIT: This is what I was thinking he was doing. https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/g27-g25-dfgt-undocumented-wheel-lock-settings-guide.286646/

I have used this (670 degrees) in the past with success on certain car/track combos. For me, 670 degrees worked great when you wanted less input for more steering.....in other words, smoother steering inputs. The less you have to turn the wheel (smoother inputs) the faster your times will be. I haven't tested it here yet, but just was thinking if he was using the 670 degrees going through Eau Rouge, it would make for a faster time through there because he is able to be smoother with his inputs. He's an obvious alien, so maybe, along with his good run out of the first turn, he is just naturally smooth with his inputs anyway without using the above trick, or whatever you wish to call it. Anyways, just my stupid ass thoughts  on the question that was asked earlier.

@numbnuts70 Glad you understood what I was trying to say here as I wasn't sure if I was explaining myself correctly in regards to how the degrees of steering can work out to be advantageous in some cases.
Just curious about your brake mod. What is it and what does it do? Running a stock g27

I have a GTEye brake mod which, in short, is a progressive spring. It offers a more progressive feel as apposed to the stock spring, meaning the more you apply the brakes, the stiffer the brake pedal feels. By far, the best investment I have made as far as my rig goes. After I got used to the feel of the spring, a few hours of hard driving, I instantly picked up between .200 and .300 on all my standing hot lap times. In all honesty though, I picked up way more consistency than lap time improvement so it was really a win win all the way around for me. I highly recommend picking up one if you can, it was only around 40 bucks if I remember right and shipping was super fast. Installation was super easy although I do have my pedals inverted so that made it that much more easier in that I didn't have the extra step of taking the base apart. Get ya one, you won't be disappointed. Link for more information.

Bit of a novice on GT6 and first timer at GT academy but enjoying the process. Down to 211.2. Question- can we tune car? I found settings and could open them but had to go to work before applying any for testing and now I really am curious to know if it's possible.

yes, Samouraï "the DS3 ultimate beast" owns a wheel, since last year, i saw him with a wheel on the Toyota FT-1 (road) TT if i remember it's been a while.
either he does not spend much time on it, or he is not as good with it (i say it like that because i'm talking about the probably best DS3 user of the Solar System ^^)
when you think he made a top 10 world in 2012 with his little pad...

i tried this round, (i don't know why i'd rather make something i don't like  ) , quickly in 2.08, but 2.07.9 after a lot of pain, still some time on the road but... the UNDERSTEER IS REAL :yuck:
beyond the 100th place, holy c***... no doubt this is Spa :indiff:

Great combo! Gaining confidence with a bit more consistency...edging up each session to 2:10.056. Much thanks to @Tidgney's guide from Spa 14...need to look at the new one for 15 (posted above). Anyway Thanks for ALL your hard work @Tidgney, much appreciated.

Taking the "less is more" approach. A little each night or session has worked so far. 👍
