There's one way to know; drive at it at low speed. It's also possible the replay is off. I recall a time when someone said I drove off track during qualifying. Their replay showed that but mine didn't.
True enough, I don't recall if I tried to looked back too see if the cone was flying after the game took control. I don't know if you can actually. Was so annoyed I just exited the race and watched the replay

24's are definitely possible, there's 2 tenths in his first sector alone :P! Another tenth at every chicane down the straight, you'll definitely see 24's before the end!

Had a quick go my 2nd go at GT Academy round 4 due to man flu (Quite annoying coughing, sneezing and racing I sort of know how Mark Webber felt when he had food poisoning except his was slightly worse with G forces and sick haha!) But ye, Man Flu is serious business...

Anyway just need to learn the last chicane now been .6/.7 behind wolf going into that quite a bit now only to hit a cone, or to run slightly wide on exit (The most annoying thing ever, the thing drags you in lol!).

So Man flu lap (Which I'm uploading and you can see the terrible mistakes) was a 3:27.303, 25's definitely possible for me with a bit of learning on the chicane!

Great work @xChris93_ on rank 1 UK!

I'm surprised how much time there is to be gained in the Ford chicanes. One time I was neck and neck with my ghost and gained 1 sec from that alone. Unfortunately it's also the place where I'm least consistent. The cones make me too scared to commit to those apexes properly :nervous:

If anyone would be kind enough to constructively criticise my lap that would be be very helpful I only get an hour a day and didn't start playing GT until the academy started. I plan to put in 5 days worth next week but I want to be in the low 27's by the time I start. I currently sit 39th in UK

...so, after four hours and change last night, I'm knocking on the door of 3:34 (sitting at 3:35.083.)

Between the DS3 and my skill-set, I maaaybe have another half second that I can pick up on the track.

All you cats that are sub-30 seconds are an alien species to me. :P

Today I did a 3:30:390 but there's still a decent margin to improve.

I was 0.7 up on my gost at the end of the 4th sector but ended up loosing it in the last one -___-

I'm already the fastest DS3 in my country but I want to enter the 29s.

Waiting for the great @Tidgney to upload the "usual" video. :) I've been trying to improve by my own without watching any other replay. Then I'll see whtat I've been doing wrong ^^

I had the spiking issue with my G27 and my best was 3:33. I didn't feel like trying because of the spiking issue, but earlier today I decided to see a video on how to fix it, so I ended up fixing it and thought I should give it another try. I've been playing lots of hours (no idea how long) and I finally ended up with a 2:28.6 earlier! I still have a "regional" leaderboard even though my country isn't included. That leaderboard includes all the non-participating countries, like Canada, Brazil, etc. Anyway, I'm ranked 17th there atm but honestly it doesn't feel like a huge achievement because there is a gap of about 2 seconds in the top 10. #1 is in the late 26's and #10 is like 2:28.4.

Anyway, my hands hurt like hell atm . Might give it a rest tomorrow and try some other day. It's a really fun round in my opinion, I sort of just got used to the track limits by now that I don't mind them much. I'll just keep pushing to see how fast I can get.

After about a good half dozen of gold lap material then DQed due to the back end slid right into a cone, or I mess up on the 2nd turn. I finally made a 35.3xx which was 1.8 more than previous lap. At lease I am done with it now. For Good!

I have to keep telling myself not to throw away laps and restart - even if it's red - just so I can practice the Ford Chicanes at speed. From what I've gathered so far, you have to brake right at the line of cones at pit entry, not before as I'm constantly doing. Pretty much a "Leeroy Jenkins" section where you charge in without thinking because any hesistation ruins the flyer. If Spa has the Bus Stop, those chicanes are the the Bus Station.

Good advice. Though if I invalidate laps I usually just hit a cone on purpose so it restarts and I can practice the chicanes straight away  But like you said it won't be at speed. I'm braking somewhere between the light gantry and the cones, I didn't think it's possible to brake any later, but I'll give it a try 👍 I'm having more trouble with the 2nd set of chicanes tbh. There isn't any usable consistent brake/turn in marker :/

Good news; I finally hit my 26! :)

Bad news; I could've had a 26.5 had I not botched the last chicane, three times. :grumpy:

You guys are going too fast (as usual :D) great job braking to 26's  I was just curious what sort of sectors you have after mulsanne? I was three time at 58.2xx yesterday (and plenty of times uunder 58.5) there and best one of those I didn't mess up until I brake too late for those last two chicanes, lap was definitely below 28's but ended up messing the chicanes so badly I got 28.3xx :D naah, tonight some online fun with friends and tomorrow I'll have a terrible hangover but I think I should get at least below 28's never the less :D

Oh heck, I actually made 27.8xx yesterday but got DQ going too wide on the last exit before those last chicanes, I had great line there but I decided to take a look at my ghost while still exiting the corner :D damn I'm stupid :D

I'm already the fastest DS3 in my country but I want to enter the 29s.

A couple of hour later, gave it another try and manage to enter the 29s (29:899) :dopey:

next, enter the 28s :D

Down to 28.4 with the pad, and made a huge mistake at Mulsanne Corner, thought the lap was over but carried on anyway - definitely a 27 possible! Kicking myself for that mistake, probably lost .4 in that corner alone :(

P2 worldwide with a pad now... Alien territory.
3:27,844 (DS3) for me ... new challenge for you mate ;)

@ODB I ran a 27.5 last night. My mulsanne sector was 1:58.000 👍

Ok, 58.250 I think was my best so far, but on that lap I lost some time before first sector so 58 flat is doable for me if I really nail it...

As it happens was running against your older ghost yesterday and on my best lap I could barely see your ghost coming to last chicanes but I think my nerves got me...

But yeah, congrats for such fast lap and thanks for the info, today I'll give it a rest but if I just can tomorrow I'll do my next stint and damn if I don't brake it 27's damn I was soooo close yesterday :irked:

My best sector time coming out of there is 1.57.7. Yet i still keep screwing it up, it's like i start to tense up and panic I'm on a good lap and chuck it away. My final sector is getting stronger consistently now though.

I have the same thing! A couple of times I've passed the gantry right after Arnage at mid 2:35's only to throw it away by charging into the Porsche curves at a million miles an hour!

Just embedded a Lap in the 1st page posts from Japanese Alien Yam.

Take a look, mind blowing skills, mid corner corrections.

A 25.7 and he ain't breaking sweat haha.

Edit: It's not been posted yet so there must be some 'mind-games' going on.

Kamikaze boys FTW.

I really don't get that..

How can he log it now if he didn't at the time? Surely he's lost that opportunity now he's exited the event? :boggled:

The only thing I can think of is he's just filmed that lap for YouTube.

He must be confident of repeating/ improving on the lap for his submission.

Maybe he's just watching the top 5 to see what times they're doing and is looking to nabbing the no.1 slot at the last minute with a Banzai lap- no pun intended.

That's some serious confidence right there..

Aliens move in mysterious ways

Here's yesterdays lap! As you can see a major mistake on the first chicane, mistake in the porsche curves (Really big not sure how I kept that going :D) and then just not overly quick at the chicane. But you can see I gain on wolf in 1 sector showing there is still time of course!

Definitely should get into the 25.xxx s before my trip to Le Man though, that's my target at least as I'm already on to that before the chicane at the end!

Any tips for consistency through the curves? Lately I seem to keep sliding it way to much. I need less steering I'm guessing?
