It doesn't surprise me that he is missing the remainder of the season. However, it does surprise me that he is the only one constantly getting concussions when compared to other drivers. Is it possible that, like his father, he is using something different in the seat that leaves him susceptible to concussions?
I just get that impression that he has taken vicious hits in the past that has made him more susceptible. Specifically, this one:

Safety was far different back then. Heck, poor Jerry Nadeau went into the wall a similar way at Richmond around that era and almost lost his life.

It is somewhat worrying that he won't be back at all this year. Without knowing more information, I have to start wondering whether Junior can even stay in a race car for an entire season anymore. He's going to get in a wreck again for certain if he does.

Rather he sits out for the year to truly try to get healthy instead of get in early and risk getting another concussion this season that could potentially end his career. Sucks as a fan to see he's out, but I'm glad that he's looking at his health in the long term instead of just focusing on racing in the short term.

Also here's the Bowman/Gordon 88 schedule in case the article before didn't make it clear/mention it
Darlington – Jeff Gordon
Richmond – Jeff Gordon
Chicagoland – Alex Bowman
New Hampshire – Alex Bowman
Dover – Jeff Gordon
Charlotte – Alex Bowman
Kansas – Alex Bowman
Talladega – Alex Bowman
Martinsville – Jeff Gordon
Texas – Alex Bowman
Phoenix – Alex Bowman
Homestead-Miami – Alex Bowman

Is it possible that Dale Jr is one of the very few drivers with enough star power to sit out for an extended period of time due to concussions (vs broken bone injuries, where there is obviously a return timetable) without any fear of losing his job/sponsors?

Or a precursor to potential retirement?

Wasn't Jr. one of the last drivers wearing an open-faced helmet as well? I don't know how much of an effect it would have, but they don't wear them anymore for a reason.

Also, kudos to the team and sponsors for giving him the time to recover and not pressuring him to return.

Another Jr. accident that could've affected his ongoing concussion problems was the Corvette ALMS crash at Sonoma years back.

The burns he suffered was the talking point then but he was dazed before the fire erupted.

Well that sucks for us Jr. fans. Oh well...

I yelled son of a b**** myself when I heard the news.

I mean he should say that, because Tony has to live with that forever, and the jackass Kaepernick apologist just uses it as a sarcastic comeback about an over paid QB that choked at a Superbowl.

I contracted all kinds of diseases from the comments. But this is why I love Tony. He doesnt give a damn if you're Mike Helton or some nobody Twitter troll xD

All I can say is that I wish Dale Earnhardt Jr. well in recovering. Lot of things are more important than making the Chase. I hope this guy gets healthy and is able to recover. You got to feel for Dale Jr. whether you like him or not.

I checked SN. I don't check local stations because I always thought non-local sports would be shown on, well, sports channels. I'm too lazy too check right now, so I'll do it tommorow.
No, It isnt a suggestion, I'm telling you its on NBC lol

Anyone watching the Truck race? Mr all-over-the-country Austin Cindric is in it (in a BKR Truck to no one's surprise)
