Enjoyed the road race today. Was a cracking race on an excellent course. GVA a worthy winner. Bit gutted for G as he was in with a shout after Nibs and Uran crashed. Thought Nibs was going to win it after getting a gap before the final descent but didn't descend to his usual standard. After seeing the course watching how the race developed I bet Sags is kicking himself he's only riding MTB. Second best one day race of the year IMO which is very unusual for the Olympic road race. Wouldn't be surprised to see a WT race on this course next year.

These Olympics are already a more successful one for Belgium than 4 years ago. First gold! Good stuff.

Do you guys see the French gymnast who's leg broke when he landed a vault? It was horrifying!

America beating up on the rest of the world with our NBA players is always fun to watch. The swarming defense from this team is unreal

These are some of the worst games yet
The IOC screwed up by giving them to rio.

Yes lets give the games to a country riddled with crime.

So far.

Bomb Scare where bomb squad had to blow up a suspicious bag.
A camera guy had his camera gear stolen
The guy that stole those cameras went into a secure area without ID.
The military fire a bullet into a media booth
Kidnapping of multiple people.

People like you support terrorism.

People like you support terrorism.

How?

Isn't the safety of athletes and the spectators important?

Guess people like you think not.

Were only at day 2 and this is the stuff that has happened.

What I didn't add was the building screw ups.

Fire at the Olympic village
The issues with in the village and surrounding complexes

To top it off cocaine with the olympic logo.

You spread their message with glee.

You are excited about the chance to bemoan the games...

I bet your even itching for people to be injured so you can post about that too.

How was what I said "Their" message?

Did these things exist before the games?
Yes they did.

The thief who stole the camera gear and went into the media zone could have been a terrorist
That is why I am complaing.

Did Athens, Sydney, London, Sochi, Beijing Have these sorts of issues?

So we're all supposed to pretend that everything is alright and that Brazil is a perfect nation? When the Russians hosted just two years ago, it was completely acceptable to point out the problems the housing areas had as well as problems the country had. What about Greece and the financial difficulties the country would get because of hosting? That was discussed. What about the Salt Lake City Olympics with the possible bribes to host the games and the worries of terrorism? That was discussed. Brazil has serious issues: the possibility of terrorism (all recent games have had this), extremely high levels of crime, high murder rates (25-30 per 100 thousand in 2012 vs 5 per 100 thousand in the US in 2012), high poverty, dangerous levels of water pollution, bribes (I bet most hosts have done this, not just Brazil), and a slight risk for the Zika virus (I will admit there has been overreaction to this).

Seeing as you haven't specifically said what issues you're on about, yes. Each of those games had issues.

Kidnapping, disabled fire alarms and fires in the villages, major security issues, large amounts of durgs

I think you're missing the point. It's not that things have gone wrong, it's that you're so quick and eager to criticise it. Now, nobody's denying the issues exist, but you give the distinct impression that you're sitting back and enjoying watching the issues - like someone who only watches motorsport in the hopes of seeing an accident.

How does North Korea deal with the olympics.

Do their citizens watch/hear the broadcast where their people are competing live or would it be more of broadcasting it after they win with the normal voice over.
I also wonder when happens to the athletes that win any medals, would they give them to their king

Guess we will never really know.

would it be more of broadcasting it after they win with the normal voice over.

The US delayed their opening ceremony broadcast by four hours so they could edit for their audience. They also tried to get the countries presented in alphabetical order of their English names rather than Portugese - Estados Unidos means viewers might turn off long before United States.

Still, the US doesn't have a king either so I guess it's moot.

Two golds for Australia on day one in the pool!
Thanks to those two golds, Australia is on top of the medal tally after day one.
What I'm really impressed by is the attitude of our team this time around. Expectations got wildly out of control in London, and while that was a disappointing campaign, I think we did ourselves justice in 2012. The team was reckless, irresponsible and pretty arrogant throughout, but there's a world of difference between James Magnussen then and Mack Horton now and the way they conduct themselves.

I also begrudgingly admit that Seven are doing a decent job this time around. I think Sochi was pretty telling with the unspoken attitude that the only way to represent your country is to win lots of medals - just about every Australian athlete was hyped up as a medal hope, and predictably, they failed to live up to that. But in Rio, there is less emphasis on personality in "media personality". Seven and Nine have always had the attitude that the presenters are bigger stars than the athletes, and that the enduring memory of a medal win was not who won, but who was commentating at the time. This time around, they're much more subdued and are letting the athletes have the spotlight.

NBC really messed the whole thing up, fancy delaying broadcasting an opening ceremony so it can be edited and have adverts put in it! No wonder the rating were terrible. Seriously only in murica!

NBC really messed the whole thing up,
They were apparently lobbying to have the United States pushed back so that people would be more likely to keep watching - otherwise, people would switch off after "E" instead of sticking around until "U".

The IOC are pretty strict about who can advertise during the Olympics to stop companies leeching off the Olympic brand. Most of the ads will be for a handful of approved companies, and programming for the broadcaster. So I doubt NBC would have been able to edit commercials in. They probably swapped the order for the Parade of Nations and maybe cut some of the smaller teams.
