Toyota have received a 4 lap post-race penalty for Nakajima not reaching the minimum time behind the wheel of the #5 car.

They screwed up by not putting Kaz back in the car for that final lap which took 1:59:31. He was only credited with driving about 30 minutes when the car broke down.

Interestingly, not called 911. If this is the first Non-911 GT car Porsche is racing for quite sometime in 2017, then that is huge. You almost can't look at Sportscar racing in General without thinking of the 911.

Wheres your source on that?

The "successor to the 911" and not the new 911.

Right. And then there's this:

So until any real meaty press info comes out stating "This isn't going to be called a 911", I'm going to be sprinkling salt an all claims.

Like I said though, it not being called a GT3 would be something entirely more plausible.

It definitely won't be called a GT3 because it's a GTE car, which is a completely different class.
Don't make me laugh that hard again, it's bad for my health I think.

But you do raise a good point, if highly inadvertently. Most of Porsche's competition has gone turbocharged (Ford, Ferrari, BMW) or will likely be turbocharged in the future (Aston Martin w/ AMG's V8's) with only the Chevrolet pretty much guaranteed to be NA for the foreseeable future.

Given that the base 911 is now turbocharged and there's another top of the line performance 911 that's been turbo'd for a few decades now, it might make sense for Porsche to go that route and trump up forced induction, while leaving the NA GT3 to compete in the class that it shares a name with.

One could say that it might be the GT2...
