Maybe some of the silencing was removed? They sound much different in the WEC than they do over here for the most part. I noticed at Le Mans (stream/TV :indiff:) that this car is actually amazingly loud.

Yea the new exhaust system they got for Le Man made them spectacularly loud, even so from watching it on TV/the Feed, and I though the Ford's sounded brilliantly loud with their guttural growl . Otherwise, I haven't followed WEC as much as IMSA, but to me at least, they seem louder here in IMSA than they do in the WEC, but I have missed the last couple of races in WEC.

Either way the new mid-engined layout, these new RSR's flat 6 sings like it should now that it revs as high as it does.

Milner has just driven awfully for the past few races. It's really head scratching since he usually is a solid driver.

NISSAN! :D That new ECU package was the last piece of the puzzle for the Datsun I guess. You know what, bloody happy for them, this is a good day. :D

Congrats to the #38...winning the easiest class in the field. :P

**** you Ganassi. And good lord that Corvette on M6 accident. :banghead:

THE TURNER BOYS GOT A WIN WITH THE PANTHER-I MEAN M6! :D

That was an interesting turn of events in GTLM on the last lap.
:banghead:
Good to see Nissan win though 👍, Pipo was like a bat out of hell on the restart, and happy that WTR got solid points.

Corvette :ouch:. I was loving when the #3 pit strategy worked out moving them back in to contention, but then the drive through penalty killed them. #4 was holding the #25 at bay keeping championship points away from them, but then the inevitable happend to the #4, nothing has gone their way. (Edit, I didn't realize the #3 finished ahead of the #4 due to the crash with the #25 BMW, and also the #4 finished ahead of the #25 somehow, so better that the #3 championship point leading vette finished with better results and the point chasing #25 finished behind both Vettes. I read the #25 crossed the line without a wheel?)

Acura/MSR really had a day though damn, one thing after another.

Good race overall though.

Last years race was a pretty crazy ending in GTLM.

Well, another awesome race with an intense finally half hour. Fantastic to see Ford back on the top step, with the #66 finally completing what they couldn't quite manage last year; convert that pole into a win, and with a double podium to boot with the #67 in 3rd :D. Better still, in brings them right back into the title fight now, or at least the #66 has been brought back into contention, not too sure on the #67, but sure it's not too far behind. All in all, a great weekend for Ford in GTLM as far as I'm concerned.

Elsewhere, well awesome to see Nissan finally break the deadlock, and be the first non-Cadillac's to win, thanks to that awesome restart by Pipo, he wasn't hanging about . Otherwise, felt massively for the guys at MSR, they had an absolute turd of a weekend, certainly took a massive hit in both championships, or at least so in the manufacturers, especially after Lime Rock too :banghead:.

Overall though, another action packed race, and with this being my first proper year of following IMSA, it just keeps on giving yet to have a bad/dull race .

No he's not, he's usually less frequent about his crashes compared to prior years, but he's always been the one since hire to wreck a Vette while going fast. As I've said over and over, Milner has great single lap pace, and can be consistent, but tends to get bored after too long and a wreck happens due to it.

Had a great time this weekend, here's a some photos from the event.

Corvette just doesn't have the pace anymore. I can easily see one of the Fords taking the championship. This last race Corvette were 2 sec off qualifying, and the past few races they've been trailing behind pretty far. The only thing that really keeps them competitive is great strategy and pit stop execution.

I have noticed that actually, they do seem to have just dropped off, seems a little odd. I'm not too sure whether there's been any significant BoP changes for the Corvettes, but their strategy has been what's kept the competitive. But with that said, their strategy was never poor to start with, as that was one of their strong points with the good strategy calls.

Mind you, on the flip side, I would like the idea of a Ford taking the title :sly:. But I'm not going to get ahead of myself, since there's still 3 events left, and GTLM is still mighty competitive as ever.

The Acura DPi looks....strange. :odd:

2018 DPi Hype Train 👍👍👍

Interesting that the JDC car/team was in the video. More than likely, that was Acura/Penske getting some wind tunnel numbers on the Oreca, but it would be interesting to see if there is more to that partnership in the future. (2nd Acura DPi team, perhaps...?)
Also caught at the very end that the rendering of the DPi had a number plate with 86 on it. Wonder if that means anything and if it'll impact MSR at all. Do we know what their 2018 plans sort of look like, or is that all speculation at this point?

MSR hasn't made clear of their plans for 2018, however they aren't a part of this DPi project at all (the 86 and 93 are numbers specific to Honda/Acura not MSR). They will either be running the NSX's as a privateer next year, or probably join Indycar.

Also, I wouldn't read too much into that Oreca being the JDC car. They're expanding to a second car next year and are remaining with the WEC regulation LMP2. It wouldn't make that much sense for Acura to be having a customer team in the first year of development of their car. Cadillac only did that with AXR because they put in a ridiculous amount of R&D into the car and WTR is a single car team. The only "real" customer DPi could potentially be the #90 next year if they do indeed buy/get a Cadillac.

It looked like there was a clip in that video where they were fitting an Acura clip to the JDC Oreca, but I'm sure that it wasn't just to compare their data and whatnot.

Like the Nissan DPi, I am very much against the adding of panels/body pieces just to force that "manufacturer" look. It doesn't work well on the Nissan and I don't really see it here either, it's just another wing on top of the nose basically.
