These new SuperUtes are hopeless as race cars :yuck:, they just trip over themselves far to easily.

Today... and yes, it's the same one as last time

Figured it'd be an issue with the height and body roll of those things but clearly someone else didn't not sure why. I like the original concept and hoped they'd go for that as well back then @05XR8. Not too late to switch down the road.

Yeah I'm pretty sure all of us in this thread agree.... on all points!

Ahem!

IIRC, the sketches were of a concept that essentially made them a Ute version of a Supercar. Spaceframe chassis of a similar type to the COTF & they were even going to run V8 engines though of a more production based nature.

Somewhere between then & the Production-based diesel we have now, someone must’ve looked at the numbers with raised eyebrows.

Not sure what the answer is but I will say this.
Just about everyone was tipping high numbers of rollovers & what’s the total this season? 2.
Two that involve tripping over on a sand trap.
I’ve seen open-wheelers do that so, no great surprise there.

Switching channels for a sec. That Milwaukee has a SUPER GT vibe to it.

I'm also liking the Boost Mobil(e) cars. Look like insects.

Pretty much what I was saying, we all thought they'd be prone to tipping and prefered the earlier concepts.... didn't you like them?. Check the last couple of posts on the previous page ;)

They really should havec built them to the original concept sketches.

Yeah, whatever happened to that concept? Thought it was more of a natural progression for the series, rather than going straight to production spec.

The series needs more cars utes on the grid to make itself relevant.

I loved the Utes (Brutes) when they started.
The difference between the production Fords & Holdens made for a good class.
Then they stuffed it by bowing to the parity whingers: same gearbox for all etc...

The good thing is, the amount of different marques. The back thing is, it's failing from a fans point of view. The drivers feel the packages are good. We're just not seeing that on the tv screen.

When they mentioned (20 inch)tyre size being an issue, they needed to figure out how to run 18s. I'd rather they run slicks, but I can see running a threaded tyre, is better for all conditions.

I saw this in person at the Newcastle round.

I think I posted about it's record run at the World time Attack. Why didn't Ross Stone look at suggesting this?

The VW is the kick-ass ute on the market at the moment - nothing can stay with it performance wise so, I guess they'd have to noble it somehow or, it's in the too hard basket for some reason.

As for the tyres, I'd prefer they moved around more than they do & that'd be easier on a treaded tyre. With the LSD, I was expecting more opposite lock off the corners but I'm not seeing it.

Drivers have said the Utes do move around. Again, might not translate well while viewing on TV. Plus, visually, the SuperUtes look more balanced in body design, next to the V8Ute. Maybe that's another factor why the Super Ute isn't hanging the rear out.
No doubt weight and that 20" beefy tyre don't help.

While the SuperUtes are doing Practice 2, right now, commentators are talking about semi-slicks and slick tyre possibilities. Also, maybe R Spec tyres.
I only just caught the tail end of the conversation.

That Isuzu looks cool. The overfenders on a couple of them, do toughen up their presence. Still, need to drop them on their guts.

Amazing qualy session. Holy snaps!

Good job by the Nissans, Mostert, Fabs, Reynolds again. That was good.

Seems like Walkinshaw have reverted back to their old form. Oh well.

As disappointing as Tickford have been this year. Not overly surprised to see Mostert on the front row. He's always quick around QR.

It's a really good top 10 grid. It's actually a good mixed up grid.

Bad for WAU. Hopefully they've got race pace today. I really want them taking points away from RBHRT.

They did touch. Mostert's mirror is folded out. Anyway, that was a dive. He was nowhere close to having the corner.

It's also cheap for us fans. May as well be a Morning race too. The support bill wasn't anything big. So, two 39 lap races would work.

Now, I know cost is the factor, but late in the day, all we need is a safety car and the race is over.

Oh boy. That wheel isn't tightened.

Washed up Tander can't seem to keep his nose out of where it doesn't belong. Guess when you're running in the back all the time now you have to do whatever you can to pick up a single spot.

I really hate how late a lot of the races are run. The glare from the sun makes it painful to watch. Either just run the race normally during the day, and run it late enough that it gets dark and run it at night, I really don’t like twilight.

Also, QR is really an awful track. I know it’s good for spectators and this post has been very negative, but this track really makes me feel like not watching.
