Don't think last year had too much issues with co drivers starting. The problem before was always that there was no 500 before the Bathurst 1000 for experience which was already solved last year

Don’t know about having to stamp a ban on it. Maybe Supercars are saying “It’s our show”.

I prefer the main game drivers start for all kinds of reasons. If an incident occurs on the grid or T1 and a main game driver is in it, so be it. Nothing worse than seeing past races, where the main game driver didn’t even get behind the wheel. I’d rather see main game drivers going head to head for the first 1-20, 30, 50 laps.

No doubt, we’ve seen the closest finishes the past 20 years. All with mixed starting grids. Plus, it is about utilising co-drivers for this long race. I get that about a team’s strategy.
Anyway, we’ll see what other changes Supercars will have cooked up over the summer break.

They really just hate us fans don’t they.
I wonder if the fuel usage difference for each brand is greater than they expected? It's the only reason I can think of to keep it.

They did say it was nearly identical at the start of last season, but they also said the engine maps were nearly identical then too even though Blind Freddy could see otherwise. And how many times did we hear ''closest VCAT ever'' when it turned out to be a complete load of 💩?

Things are getting worse for Erebus. Shaw and Partners gone, and doubts about Coke staying on.

Gotta feel for Jack Le Brocq. Poor guy must of broken a mirror while crossing the path of a black cat and walking under a ladder on Friday the 13th.

Edit: I found this to an interesting interview. But seriously? Ryan Story had to pay out of his own pocket to have the Triple 8 designed Gen 3 prototype modified to accommodate a Triple 8 driver? You just can't make this **** up.

JW must be an absolute dream for Supercars and other teams to deal with ;), and with Triple 8 being the only team to not forego payment so the final Pukekohe round could go ahead leaves me with the opinion he's a right proper tight-ass and has nothing more than his own interests at heart.... which also becomes very apparent in the Dr. RS interview regarding how both homologation teams have handled the obvious disparity last season when compared to 2019.

A couple of good looking ponies right there! Better without the white from last year.

Time for Peter Adderton to buy the team!

Don't know about that. He's a bit too much of a loose cannon for me still, and while he does come across as well meaning I don't think it's his only motive unfortunately.

He is good at certain things, like self promotion, but he's just as likely to take his bat and ball and go home over something that he probably should stay out of... he'll make it about him (like with GRM and the upright incident and again now).

More sponsor are pulling out. Coca-Cola is also not on the Erebus website anymore. Wtf is going on?
This in particular piqued my interest;

“People are making commercial decisions because we're fully aware that there's a lot more to the story, and if things do come out, they are potentially damaging to other people's brands.”

I reckon it’s something more with the team than Brodie. I reckon Brodie wanted out of that situation. Someone’s needs to say something, because this is getting ridiculous. The championship winning driver doesn’t leave his team for no reason. Sponsors don’t all pull out of a competitive team for no reason. Someone needs to speak up.

Confirmed Coke are gone too.

Maybe Erebus should look at bringing this livery back.

Seriously though. Someone indeed really needs to be transparent about what really is happening. It's crazy to keep everyone in the dark like this.

Something illegal or against the rules has gone on here surely. You don’t lose your champion driver and 3 major sponsors over a contract dispute

Regarding this whole situation...

 Best comment I've seen on Speedcafe for a long while.

Edit: I just watched the test day video and I gotta say, the Red Bulls look so much better without the red on the rear around the AMPOL signage. It's a much cleaner look now.👍

https://speedcafe.com/erebus-offers-membership-refunds/

Did DJR offer membership refunds when Courtney left for Walkinshaw? Why would any team publicly offer refunds for the Championship winning Team? Forget following a driver. Erebus been about the team spirit than just a single person. Weird indeed.
It could be about the Coke branding on the products that have already shipped and/or new supporters signing up because Brodie was the champion but now appears to be in team wilderness somewhat. Even loosing Will could've made a difference to peoples support I guess... and this is all just a guess. ;):dopey:

I absolutely don’t know, but I’ll give Erebus the benefit of Betty making that call.

Is there any rules against anyone other than the reigning champion using #1 as a number, even in testing? Just feels strange that Hazelwood was using it today. Although, I guess with everything that's gone on over the past week, Erebus probably weren't bothered to change it.

And have to say as well that Reynolds livery looks great. Real retro vibes with this. I'm liking it.

Yeah the rule is the driver is the one that can only use the number 1 not the team. I reckon they knew that, and that it’s just a test day with only some of the Vic teams no big dramas. I reckon it’s the team giving the middle finger to everyone.

Remember when DJR did it on the door, for testing I think, back when Courtney left for Toll Holden Racing Team, albeit a bit more subtly?

According to the rules now it looks to me like the number 1 remains with the driver and the team so the Courtney incident can't be repeated any more... I think. ¯\(ツ)

1.4.1 Competition Number one (1) will be allocated to the previous Season's Driver's Champion.

1.4.1.1 The previous Season's Driver's Champion's Competition Number will not be allocated to any other Driver and will remain allocated to the Team

1.4.1.2 If the previous Season's Driver's Champion does not use the number 1 it will not be allocated to any other Driver.

Just shut up.
The same could be said of Roland. Stirring the pot isn't helping... especially when his column always includes his obvious backhanded swipes at people Triple 8 have had disagreements with.

Triple 8 self-serving propaganda with the odd bit of sense mixed in at best.

Um... Anybody know what's happened between Kostecki and Erebus?
Kostecki and Erebus, and their lawyers?... and possibly Supercars + Erebus' ex-sponsors. It's very easy to tell that everything else is conjecture by the use of the words possibly, apparently and seemingly carefully spattered through the stories that are currently available.

We all may never know the true story... but it does reek of Barry. ;)

Um... Anybody know what's happened between Kostecki and Erebus?
I’ve been following it pretty closely and it’s super hard to get anything concrete. Reading between the lines however, it seems to be a Brodie vs Barry issue.

I’ve heard reports of bullying and altercations (possibly near-physical), resulting in a toxic work place. With the title secured, Brodie has likely walked out following a specificity heated argument.

Supercars appear to have been working with Erebus (cross pollination and timing of statements), and implying an issue of mental health. Which isn’t relevant or fair and causes further stigmatisation of an important issue.

It’s fair to say that whatever it is, it has to be very serious for the driver and sponsors of the most successful (and visible) car on the grid to walk away. There is so clearly a gag order in place and speculation is so far out of control that it is hurting the sports image. Fans deserve to know why the #1 car, driver & sponsor have left the building.
