Ha, replaced may be a bit harsh, but I agree with the rest of it. I bet I ran that Nurb race 50x or more; in fact after golding the beginner/intermediate on the first go I ran nothing but the Nurb for the entire 2 weeks. Extremely fun & there is always something to learn on that course. They really need to make a permanent road car & permanent race car seasonal for the ring, given the popularity of them.

Only "challenge" in this one is staying awake long enough to finish the race. j/k. Although I will admit that is due to my hate of FF cars in this game, thus I have been using the Dino, 205 Turbo 85', Berlinetta, Z4, Elise, Speedster... All of which are pretty easy wins. Tuning up some of the lesser MR/4WD at the moment in the hopes of injecting some fun into this one.

Yeah, fun will be hard to find in the three new Seasonals... :indiff: The Expert one could have been more exciting on Côte d'Azur.

Nice time! I noticed you won by 27 seconds and wondered what time you would have won by had you had the incredibly slow field where I had a 28 second margin of victory when I was racing the Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta?

Thanks :).

This race is weird, I think...

Sometimes I run slower and lap the last guy, sometimes faster and get nowhere near the last guy.

How can one hate the Nürburgring, the mother of all tracks

How? I could ask, how could one love it?
But anyway here it is (this is about the nurburg in GT6!!). I used to drive very agressive, so on nurburg that a big NO NO.
I can drive Nurburg, I do get gold on nurburg season events these days, But i hate (is a big word but let's use that)nurburg because it is a narrow track, ugly curbs that trow you of, almost no room for tiny error, touch a bit off the track, and woeshhh there you go.:banghead:
Then if i get near the rabbit leader and manage to pass him on the last straight, just before the last part i need to do a brake, and then the AI hits my car so hard that i need luck to stay on track and in front.
That's how someone can HATE nurburg ( in gran turismo that is).

I own an Exige in real life, and the Elise is my favorite car on the game, so I'm always collecting tunes. I tried your settings as close as I could, though they ended up being quite a bit different I think. But I'm very happy with the car, thank you and Shaun!

Edit.

It appears I just needed to learn the track a bit better. 1:35 first lap, all others 1:34. I have a single 1:33 to my credit, but it's because of a draft for sure. I've run 3 8:23's in a row, so I think this is as good as it gets for me, but I'll keep racing this one because it's fun!
You edited your post, but i saw a quote that you asked about that 1:34 lap.
In that race, i got first in lap 3, so no draft/slipstream anymore that 1:34.xxx was my last lap.
I still got the recording if you want proof.

But you also noticed what i mentioned in a post, you got to know the track better to get nice laptimes.
Not a track to floor it in some corners, Understeer/oversteer kills your laptimes.

And, you also answered a question that is bothering me for a few days.
A lot of you guys are fast, almost every season event i see your times are much faster then mine.
But in this event, i was baffled, i could not understand why i had these laptimes, and was faster than some of you.
It is the track....

My settings, if anyone is interested. They are Shawnm80 + dddsprayshop + me. I normally go for the Praiano tunes, and his is just as fast for this track, but this tune is much more stable for DS3 users (IMO).

Elise 111R '04 • 450PP - 240 hp / 161 tq • F/R dist = 49/51
Custom wing type A

Ballast = 143KG @ -50

TC @ 0, ABS @ 1

This set-up produces 1:34.X laps.
i see that you kept the exhaust and didn't use the fase 3 weight reduction.
i tried that once, it increased understeer a bit and messed up my braking, i had to brake much earlier.
Also messed up my 50:50 weight distribution.
but i see it works perfect for you.

\edit, Oh Crapp, sorry doublepost.

Hahaha, seriously? :)

Yes, there is a monkey on a tree in a curb before the second tunnel, it's a famous GT easter egg. I can't help myself to look at it when I drive on Trial Mountain. You can also see Nessie in the lake, but not while driving. You have to stop near the NGK ads, in the grass. You will see a boat with a man standing, the monster is on the left.

How? I could ask, how could one love it?

Ok :sly:

Edit. Back to Madrid with a FR winner for a change, Praiano's BMW M Coupé 1998:

Yes, I was struggling to get 1:34, got it a couple of times in a draft, but not a solo 1:34 until I learned how to drive the track better.

I could not understand why i had these laptimes, and was faster than some of you. It is the track....

I'm not so good at this track, and don't consider myself that good at GT.

i see that you kept the exhaust and didn't use the fase 3 weight reduction.

I probably missed it in your original post, I'll swap them in to see if it helps my time :)

Thanks again!

Talk about tough, it honestly took me like four tries to beat the Megane, the thing is that I've won the race before...with a Megane, the podium opponents are quite disproportioned though, when I got to race with my Megane I won easily (I forgot what cars were leading) but when I wanted to get out and try again, there was a 135i Cooupe on the front, I was never able to catch up to it with my Megane.

I had beaten the Megane with my Tii by pure luck, it braked too late into the last chicane, making it hit the barrier, I had to use force to get the inside line to overtake it.

Yes the Tii was almost completely stock, no power parts.

The overtake moment.

Honestly I'm getting a bit tired of these type of races, hopefully PD can add grid start for seasonal events and arcade mode, that'd make me happy.

Forget going fast.... Try going this slow and win!
The Caterham Seven Fireblade is so crippled and slow being detuned all the way down to 450 PP that it is laughable. Funnier yet is somehow the computer AI knows how slow I am and they drive even slower too! If one of you should get bored, try the Fireblade and report back how the AI responded.

I tried it without the exhaust and with weight reduction, but there wasn't as much grip in the rear. The car had some better tendencies, but just wasn't as fast for my driving style.

Another cool thing I did. We all know that tuning makes a huge difference, but I wanted to see the difference with this car on this track.

Stock car, oil change, comfort soft tires, carbon hood, window reduction, and 99.9% power (to get it to exactly 450pp)
Average lap was 1:38.5, total time 8:38

Madrid%20stock.jpg

So with the tune I'm saving 4 seconds a lap, 15-16 seconds overall. Stock car was just as much of a joy to drive as the tuned one though. No need for TC, this car is perfect at this power!

One car that I think that could be close to the times of the Elise, is the Opel Speedster Turbo. I'm far from a good tuner, and I don't spend much time on cars before moving onto the next one, yet I managed a total time of 8:46 with the Speedster Turbo. I'm sure some of you master tuners and incredible drivers can somewhat easily get total times in the lower 8:30's, if not better.

Now that I have learned this track I'm having quite a bit of fun with this one. I've won several times with the 111R with @shaunm80 tune. Also with the '85 205 Turbo 16 with @praiano63 tune and the '09 Abarth 500 also with @shaunm80 tune. I still need a FG adjustment on the Abarth since my lap times were all 1:42's even my first lap. The Abarth loves the tight turns 40+MPH in 2nd gear on the 360 turns. I don't have many low PP cars. I tried it in the Alfa Brera Sky Window but could only mange a 2nd place. To me this car is way too heavy at 450PP. I tried it because @DisabledRacer won with it though I had the 135i as the rabbit. I'll try it again now that I know the track and maybe I'll get a better grid. Next up is my '66 Bug.

Why replace?
You ( and others) had your 2 weeks fun, now i (and others) have my(our) two weeks fun, i really really hated that nurburgring 600+pp race.:yuck: (;))

Nothing personal, but you could understand why that replacement statement is just a personal opinion that differs for each driver/member.

I apologize for what I said. I just thought it was weird to have the expert race at 450pp. it was stupid of me to assume that everyone preferred low PP races. So yes, you definitely deserve your 2 weeks. Again,I apologize.

I really wish they'd bring back that that Daytona endurance race they had posted for almost a month. It's cool to always have a tough race posted that's winnable but a little different each time.

I detuned my xbow street and tried it.The car drives like it is on rails but the best I could get was 4th with it despite lap times of around 1:40..seems like the AI all drove faster against the x bow

No!, don't apologize, it's your feeling. never ever apologize for your feelings.
I just showed you different feelings.(we are all friends here)

And like @breyzipp mentioned, that dude that mixes up the season events, does actually a good job for each level driver.

Again, never apologize for feelings.
Only apologize when you force your oppinion onto others without respect.

\edit.
Today i'm done with this event, all three accounts on my PS3 reached 50million again.
So i first have to shop for some cars in each account again....

The Daytona endurance was a blast that is for sure and the next one I hope will last another month. I agree let them have fun with this one.

Great post dddsprayshop!!! No need to apologize for our feelings on this seasonal event.

I agree. To each their own - as long as they're not going out of their way to deliberately put down and hurt the feelings of others. Breed happiness! Life is short! :)

On the value of PP as applied to levels, I, myself, don't regard higher PP as 'expert'. The two are not mutually inclusive. A race could be made extremely difficult to ace even set at low PP levels, and in the same manner a race could be easier to run with high PP.

A 600 PP NASCAR race run over 5 laps at Motegi may be easier for some than a 450 PP 1 lap at the Ring, for instance.
