Done this in a few "cars" now. I like how the Kubelwagen, Schwimmwagen and Sambabus are classed as "Hot hatches". You don't even need to add any suspension or LSD parts to be fast enough to win, just power and weight upgrades and a custom transmission.
Transmission setting are key for this race.

I detuned my xbow street and tried it.The car drives like it is on rails but the best I could get was 4th with it despite lap times of around 1:40..seems like the AI all drove faster against the x bow

Strange... I had no problems winning with the X-Bow Street, even with the poor tune that I created. Maybe the X-Bow Street to you is like the Lotus Elise to me. Everybody goes super fast in the Elise, except me. I find the Berlinette R/S Coupe faster than the Elise 111R! That comment most likely will get me persecuted in this thread! :nervous:

Took me three tries after finishing 2nd twice I finally got the win with an Audi TTS '09. Had to duel with a Megane to the finish. Whew!

Wait, you mean to tell me that my many failed attempts with the Lancia Delta Integrale and the Renault Megane Trophy, before finally succeeding with a tuned Fiat 500 Abarth, were completely pointless, and that I could've just won first-try in a Lotus 111R, which isn't even a hatch?

All I can say is this has been a jaw dropping moment through tired eyes.

my biggest margin win was with the Opel Speedster turbo.with the turbo it seems to have really good acceleration. Also loved the MG TF160.I tried the Audi TT but only got 2nd with it.To me it felt fat n heavy.I've had my best luck with the speedster/roadster cars
cars used so far
1)Opel Speedster
2) MG TF160
3)Audi TT
4) BMW Z4
5) x bow street
6)Renault Clio rs
7) Lotus 111r
8) Fiat Barchetta
9) Mini Cooper S 07
10 Bmw 330 I

for kicks I tried a Fiat Panda for about a lap..lol

Well.... I must admit this is a fun race, it is because I already given up seasonals for quite some times and I got my hands on this today...

I also admit that I was too cocky to use a Abarth500 with only 436pp, I thought I can have an easy win....but apparently I was wrong...I finished 3rd place with 15secs gap behind the BMW 135coupe rabbit... so I was pissed off and tried a full tune 450pp again....and.....damn...still 3rd place with 8secs gap....

So I finally decided to become the 135coupe rabbit itself, and this time the rabbit was Volks Scirocco, with below lap time I finally made it....

1'42.2
1'40.4
1'39.3
1'40.2
1'41.1

This race was designed to have some challenge indeed...good race!

OK, pretty ticked right now. Had a clean 8:19, 8:20 for sure, and on the last corner...of the last lap...the car I was about to lap ran into the wall..just before I was about to pass him. He managed to get back onto the track before I got to him, blocking the entire track with his elephantitis self, and adding 5 seconds to my time. Murder I tell you, murder, it's what's for lunch.

Lotus 111R '04 with the tune I posted?

Little slippery for me. But I'm not quite exactly the same... missing the wing and some weight compared to you, but the suspension tuning you posted errs on the slippery side in my car.

Car has a serious bog in the middle of the range, and then looking at the dyno charts, it's plain as day. Terrible.

What!?..Persecuted? As far as i know and read in several topics, you surprize a lot of drivers.
You use the stranges cars and win.
No persecution from me, i'm happy with my elise 111R '04, but i smile when i see your magic with other cars.👍
Turn that :nervous: into a ...

No! I'm old and stubborn and like to do things my way! :dunce: I will give it a try later today. A lot of tunes don't work out so well for me because of my hand & wrist problems.
^^^^^this, same here.
Don't and can't use the joysticks on a DS3, have a DFGT but don't (want to?) use it
because i make video's on youtube for people that can't or don't have a wheel.

But also, i'm a sucker for soft suspension, 50:50 weightdistribution, MR and 4WD cars and DS3 pad.
Yes, i'm stubborn, and proud of it, untill proven otherwise, and still go back to my own stubborn style.
Knowing what LSD can do, helped me a lot, thank you members of :gtpflag:.

Old, stubborn and disabled, I'm in the same boat as you then. :gtpflag:But my knees are getting better since I haven't played for several days but it's been since that autumn ring reverse event I got this injury. Damn PD for making events too fun. And damn Logitech for those way-too-strong springs on the G27 pedals!🤬👎

Trying to get the gold now from the beginner event... with the DS3 controller. But damn that's hard when you never raced like that, I went from MMORPGs and RTS games straight to a PS + wheel for racing. :embarrassed:

Thanks. I do try and use cars that most people wouldn't think of trying. That is what makes the game most fun for me. A lot of people don't have the patience to drive slower cars.

They say left-handed people are different... Well, I am left-handed and I am certainly different. You HAVE to be different and a bit crazy if one of your first cars to try in his seasonal is a winged, Volvo station wagon!

It's funny how the AI drives sometimes. I just ran this race with a brand new Lotus 111R (I'm trying a totally different setup than I usually run). I won the race with a 8:53.xxx... Second place was a Clio V6 24V '00 and he managed an 8:55.xxx! I should have had a bigger margin of victory but that Clio tried to pit maneuver me at the chicane just after the start of the lap. I was leading on the 4th lap and he was on my tail. He didn't slow down as much as he should have and clipped me at that chicane. I was sawing wood like crazy trying to keep from spinning. :D

Has anyone here that has used the 111R for this event tried the Elise '11? I ended up buying all of the Elise models to see which one performs the best and the only one I found that could rival the 111R was the Sport 190, averaging about 1 sec slower total time. That is until I tuned up the Elise '11... With a simple "eyeball" tune of the LSD/suspension + adding power upgrades to hit 450p, I broke my lap record of 1:39.2, achieving 1:38.1. As my knowledge of the course increased my times across the board dropped and I am now sitting at 8:42.xx with the 111R, but my Elise 11' times average around 8:38.xx.

To my knowledge the 111R is the king of Elises (Elisi? ha) so I thought it was pretty interesting that I am consistently quicker with the 2011 model. Also, I have applied various tweaks/tunes of my own to both cars, as well as using as many of the published tunes I can find, but I still can't close the gap between the two. However, I will admit to historically not being very fast with the Elise in general, just as DisabledRacer (I believe it was he) mentioned, so it could just be the subtle differences in the '11 being more conducive to my driving style. Just thought I'd ask if I'm the only one, and would be particularly interested to hear dddsprayshop, Ultimate, and the others opinions/results that have posted extremely quick times with the 111R.

P.S. I know I stated earlier that this was not very fun compared to the 'nurb event... Well I'm now eating my words, haha. Once getting a grasp on this track configuration (Normal Madrid has always been my fav city course, so running it in reverse just seemed so... wrong) I began to obsess over breaking the 8:40 mark, and am now shooting for 8:30. Needless to say I am now enjoying it & having a blast testing the lower powered cars that I have always ignored. Good stuff!

:gtpflag:Actually I don't like this event, I love it:tup:.
Maybe even more than the recent Nurburgring Racecar event.
Favorite seasonal so far with last year's PP550-SS Non-racing car at the Nordschleife.

Having a blast with this one. Cars I've won with so far:

Renault Megane 2.0 IDE Coupe '00 - 8:51.381
VW Golf VI R '10 - 8:44.444
Mini Cooper S '11 - 8:43.500
Lotus Elise 111R '04 - 8:29.688

My settings, if anyone is interested. They are Shawnm80 + dddsprayshop + me. I normally go for the Praiano tunes, and his is just as fast for this track, but this tune is much more stable for DS3 users (IMO).

Elise 111R '04 • 450PP - 240 hp / 161 tq • F/R dist = 49/51
Good tune! It has so much grip and very easy to drive with a DFGT.

Super stable for a MR car on comfort softs, and great for my novice wifey who didn't spin once! She loved it. No aids bar ABS1 for us both.

Unfortunately we had the fast line up and neither of us managed a win... mainly due to have never driven the track until this seasonal, but we'll practice and crack it... it's a nice challenging track and we both enjoy learning the harder tracks.

I did get a win previously in a scirocco and a clio, but with a slower field.

the CITROEN C4 COUPE 2.0 VTS is an awesome lil hot hatch using Praiano's tune. The C3 is quick but needs some tuning

With an event like this, I've taken several cars that had to be de-tuned by lowering the Power Limiter %. With some cars I've had to lower that slider substantially. This tends to make the car reach it's maximum HP very early in the RPM range and stay constant til red line. Do you guys still tend to rev each gear to red line or do you short shift to take advantage of the increased torque that is usually available in the lower-to-mid RPM ranges? Either way you're usually still at the same exact HP level.

The Wall. Good one.

Watch the speedo. After the torque peak it's usually slowing down. Shift it, and you can see it speed up a bit, then slow down again.

That said, I have yet to come to any conclusion which is actually faster. Many times I swear it's faster to short shift, other times it seems faster to let it rev out til redline. Probably depends on the engine's numbers. One in particular is the Audi R10 with it's enormous torque amount.
