This is a fantastic drive in a great car with a perfect tune (may need a little bit more FD if you're behind a car for long) by Shaun. I BARELY eek'd out the win, and had fun every second I was on track.

Thanks for this info @BenMillard & @DeuxMilles .. added to OP 👍

Great work @Baron Blitz Red, quite impressive run!

The XJ13 is possible and pretty fun in a non 2J field.

Anyone tried the GT40 MkIV? I didnt like the 4 spd box and it is $20 mil. to find out.

I got to within 5 seconds against the 2J but could do no better that low 2:00 laps. This IS doable, and by the way, at 600pp the MkIV is a much better car than the Toyota 7.

finally did it with my own Ferrari 330 tune against a really stupid 2J starting in front.
two races in an row he crashed out and so let me pass him. :D
best total race time was a 10:22 but enough to get gold

now i will have a look at @shaunm80 s tune. maybe it makes things easier :)

Here is my gold tune for this event.

Ferrari 330 P4 '67 (600PP RH)

this is curious.
After achieving gold with a tune of my own i had to find out that it looks nearly exactly the same as yours do.
Its just a bit mor soft in springrate (something about 9 mid to high) and damper.
even the balast is nearly the same with 35kg to get a 48:52 ratio.

I think thats a good sign to further use your settings aswell :)

thanks a lot

Just won with the XJ13 against a soft AI field with only 1 J2. Requires consistent lap times and using drafting to catch up on Conrod. When 2 J2's are in the field or a Toyota 7 they work together and it difficult to catch them

Got it after some very minor tweaks to the Cobra's suspension and trying a non-2J field. I even improved my lap times a bit, but definitely not enough to get the 2Js with this car. Maybe if I practiced but nah, can't be bothered....

Mount Panorama is a :censored:ing blast to drive around in. It kinda saddens me to see that they made a game with such attention to graphics, car & track detail and with some of the most genuinely fun yet challenging physics out there...and then ruin it with stupid design choices just to blame it on the hardware at the end of the day.

I tried to get a fast race and got, probably the slowest opponents this event can produce. Got first during the second lap when I've passed the 2D, and never got bothered.
2J
total time - 9.41.512
1st lap - 1.54.302
2nd lap - 1.52.858
3rd lap - 1.52.353
4th lap - 1.52.037
5th lap - 1.51.512

here is the replay with no touching the walls or other cars during the race

Hi,
Try this tune, add supercharger and set power to 100% to get max 584 PP, and don't forget to adjust transmission final gear so that your top speed is around 200 mph.

thanks a lot. This brought me to third place with the very first shot. I was on second place when a **** AI hit me in the last corner and I was penalized for this. wtf?

I'll give this event a few more tries.....

D.

So, anyone got a Toyota 7 tune I could use? I've got a Toyota 7 but absolutely no control on the thing.

I should add, have tried Camaro and Chally to no avail. Maybe I'm gearing them wrong? It's hard to drive them the way I like, though.

Hi,

after a lot of tries: it's easy to get first place with the camaro z28 race car - *behind* participating toyota 7 and 2J. They are miles away. I just have to wait for a race without them

A toyota 7 is in my garage, but I'm not able to tune it adequate.

Bye,
D.

Nah that lead car is using nitro. Be it the 2J or Toyota 7 doesn't matter, nitro they using and somebody should report it.
I been consistently passing all the cars moving into 2nd position, seeing a car ahead thinking yes that is the lead car only have to pass him next only to realise getting closer is not the lead car but a couple cars that already got or getting lapped, poor things. Closing into them now thinking oh lord those guys gonna try to kammakazi me now I sure instead of letting me pass seeing they done already lost. Managing though to pass them without deduction only to realise none of them is the lead car so still in 2nd position....and to add insult to injury the lead car done inject some disallowed nitro and sped far ahead. On to the last straight now toward the bend catching up (well sort of) but he so already ahead just can't manage thus far to really catch up and overtake for the win. You think it easy?

I has consprcy thery4.jpg

OK, so I had a go in the 2J, just to see how it handled, and to my surprise it did quite well. Not as fun as Shaun's 330, but not nearly as bad as expected.

2 things:

1. The lead car MUST have N2O, and that's a crock of ****.
2. The lead car ramming me from the rear and giving me the penalty is a crock of ****, especially when I'm trying to get out of the way, but the car is coming up on me so fast that it's nearly impossible without wrecking.

I'm sure I could do better than 9:40 if I could get a field where I could get away from the lead car. I think I completed 3 races out of 50+ re-starts because of lead car issues.

Some love it, some hate it, but at this PP range, it's hard to beat the 2J. It has a great speed/dollar ratio at around 6 million. :)

OK, so this has become the worst race for me. If I pick a slow field I end up hitting lap traffic at the end and they screw everything up. If I get a fast field the lead car has N2O and either hounds me to the very end, or rams me off the course.

FY PD! :D

I feel your pain.

And yet I'm sure there's plenty of people who enjoy this. I certainly do. More often it's the complainers who post on the Internet. Don't like it, don't do it and move on.

Whewww!!! Finally. Got the Gold, albeit a race without the two 2Js and Toyota 7 using nitro in the race but getting a line up with the two lesser evil 2Ds and the Mark IV as 1,2,3.
Managed a deductless race and overtook 1st position by the third lap or so and somehow managed to maintain the lead. The 2Ds tried to catch up and a lapped car or two tried to block me but fortunately wasn't able to because of my superior driving skills :). Either that or some measure of luck.
Well after a great number of 2nd places just glad to finally get Gold and have a good laugh. This calls for beers.
