finally did it with my own Ferrari 330 tune against a really stupid 2J starting in front.
two races in an row he crashed out and so let me pass him. :D
best total race time was a 10:22 but enough to get gold

now i will have a look at @shaunm80 s tune. maybe it makes things easier :)

this is curious.
After achieving gold with a tune of my own i had to find out that it looks nearly exactly the same as yours do.
Its just a bit mor soft in springrate (something about 9 mid to high) and damper.
even the balast is nearly the same with 35kg to get a 48:52 ratio.

I think thats a good sign to further use your settings aswell :)

thanks a lot
Can you please give me just the difference in your tune versus @shaunm80 . Thank you. I won with his would like to try yours.

And yet I'm sure there's plenty of people who enjoy this. I certainly do. More often it's the complainers who post on the Internet. Don't like it, don't do it and move on.

You enjoy the ramming AI? Pit maneuvers? The N2O boost from nowhere? The fact that they don't get penalties, but instead give them to us undeservingly? Their off-course excursions that don't slow them down at all? Their obvious use of racing-soft tires when we only get RH or less? Their huge hp advantage when we are using the same car? The fact that they get to enter races with more PP than they should be able to?

Wow, I had you all wrong, I thought you were sane. Clearly I misjudged you :D.

Make it a hard challenge and I won't mind, but at least make it realistic for 600 PP. That's my biggest complaint. The acceleration of the Toyota 7 is stupid and extremely unrealistic for 600 PP, as is having the Challenger R/T putt around at a max 112 mph. 👎

You have to fool them if you can't run 2.00 flat laps(I can't) So I came into the race not knowing what was what with a 2D. Thought I was doing good but finished 2nd 3 times behind the 70 Toyota. Kept leaving & coming back but the field stayed the same with bloody toyota as the leader. Sccrew this I says I'm riding with the Toyota to see what hes I got. Hopped in his car for the replay. His 1st lap was a 2.03. Need I say more? I bought 70 Toyota, came back in & got a slower field that I beat easily several times even though my laps were 4-5 seconds off of my 2D's time. Go figure, but it be done. Chill Lurker, you can do this dude.

On a lighter note.... I decided to try and race the 444 PP, Honda S800 RSC '68 and see what it could do. I was in 7th place until the Cobra got around me the last lap.:lol::mad:

Nah that lead car is using nitro. Be it the 2J or Toyota 7 doesn't matter, nitro they using and somebody should report it.
I been consistently passing all the cars moving into 2nd position, seeing a car ahead thinking yes that is the lead car only have to pass him next only to realise getting closer is not the lead car but a couple cars that already got or getting lapped, poor things. Closing into them now thinking oh lord those guys gonna try to kammakazi me now I sure instead of letting me pass seeing they done already lost. Managing though to pass them without deduction only to realise none of them is the lead car so still in 2nd position....and to add insult to injury the lead car done inject some disallowed nitro and sped far ahead. On to the last straight now toward the bend catching up (well sort of) but he so already ahead just can't manage thus far to really catch up and overtake for the win. You think it easy?

Man, it is obvious the AI cars respond to your lap times. I ran low 1:54's and even a 1:53 in my 2J, took the lead on the last lap at the 3rd turn after the first straight. But when we came down the last straight in back, the Toyota bumped me off the track when I blocked him! I ended up in the wall, with a 5 second penalty to rub salt in my wounds. I lost by 6 seconds.

Second attempt I intentionally ran slower, but still caught the 2J and Toyota by the start of the last lap. This time when I passed I blocked and made sure to be centered when I got the "bump". Then coming to the finish line I intentionally blocked the Toyota all the way to the finish. Won by .03 seconds....I doubt he cared though, but I felt great. lol

Great lap man! My best lap without draft assist is 1:52:5. Do you mind sharing your tune? I completely understand if you do.
It is praiano's tune - https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/thre...bull-x2014-junior.291084/page-17#post-9109593 with power adjusted accordingly to meet the PP limit.

2Js and Toyota 7 using nitro
Please stop assuming things that have no real support. Those cars have more PP than you are allowed to have during this event. There is also the "rubber band" effect when you get closer or pass any of your randomly generated opponents.

nitro they using and somebody should report it.
Who do you think generated these events to receive your reports? Answer - Polyphony Digital generated the events on their GT6 servers, and they loaded the appropriate code for any of your competitors on the track. If you try to report it it will be like you will try to report the doctor how the same doctor gave you medicine to take.

These events are meant to be hard, otherwise is no point of having events in the first place. The harder, the better. If some of the players don't like it, then is always the choice of easy Tetris.

Thanks :).

I don't think anyone is upset about how hard the event is, it's more about how unequal/unfair/counter-weighted it is. But we know that, I mean, PD sucks at making races. In fact, they suck at everything apart from physics engines IMO, and it's the only reason anyone plays GT.

Don't get me wrong on this. I am one of the strong voices against PD's direction and late results with their coding choices, settings mistakes and limitations, high promises and constant disappointments (GT6 is not finished as it is right now), but realistically we need to work with what we have, correct?

Racing environment is about constant change in the conditions, and the ability to adapt as quick as possible to all the elements. Sometimes it sucks and is unfair, people push to far, loose control and crash into others, some other times we make mistakes causing trouble. Nobody in the racing community is complaining about the conditions, because they are the same for everybody, and by choosing to race, we make the choice to push, take responsibility and deal with the consequences.

If you like to race and got caught in a crash or an accident, in real life you'll try to recover as fast as possible to race again; in the simulation world, you do the same in an instant. It is about the feeling of racing and I don't understand what is the problem of starting it over and over and over again. Question is, do you like to race for having fun, get better, improve your skill, push your limits and respect all the other people in the community for having the same hobby, or is only about clearing a task on a damn intimate list?

Personally, I don't like the easy events, with predictable cars on the track, because the only challenge is to go faster, but when your opponents are unpredictable everything changes. Racing line, braking points, positioning your car on the track in order to defend or stop the faster (with superior PP) cars are different, and car handling is more difficult. But those are the moments when you discover the limits of your skill and what that vehicle is capable of.

If you feel you are good, the next step is to fight to get better. If you struggle, the next step is to fight to respect and learn how to push your limits.

Those opponents in GT6 cannot be compared with anything from real life other than not being perfect, because nothing in real life is perfect. Consider them moving obstacles meant to make you better by not touching any of them and in few months (or years) you'll find yourself whistling while winning races in GT Sport, Assetto Corsa, iRacing, Project Cars or Formula 1 2016.

It's not about running the fastest laps possible consecutively, you must concentrate more on masterful passes of the unpredictable AI at whichever point on track you reach them by trying to avoid any blocking and/or collisions while maintaining reasonable pace.

I am a firm believer of the more you collide with trailing AI, the less chance you have of catching the leader. And for some races PD did try to make things a bit harder with the 'rear ending of any AI into corners = angry AI turbo boosts.'

This x10. The PD AI recipe since 1998.

If you feel you are good, the next step is to fight to get better. If you struggle, the next step is to fight to respect and learn how to push your limits.

I don't think I'm any good, and I honestly don't care to get better, I'm mostly here for the fun, but I do like to achieve the time I know I'm capable of while having it. I also realize that I'm the weird one out, as it's the same in real life with my Lotus Exige. People try to give me crap because I don't track an obvious track car, but it doesn't interest me in the slightest. I have zero interest in going to a track to chase tenths, and much prefer driving mildly spirited on super smooth, traffic-vacant back-roads.

Cheers.

Out of all the unfair expert races we've had since xmas 2013 this one isnt really all that bad.

I havent seen too much bad AI behavior except for getting booted on "The Chase" and half the time they overcook it and end up in the sand gifting me a place. The other half is my fault being too slow. If you're fast as hell and get the the line right they dont have much of a chance.

The AI is otherwise fairly easy marks with limited overtaking at the top of the mountain and 'forest elbow' coming onto 'conrod straight'.

I derive no pleasure from the intermediate Tsukuba and Willow Springs so this is all the joy I'm getting until the hot laps drift in 2 weeks time.

Super nice. No need to track unless you are going racing in the SCCA. Enjoy!! I had my first in 1967 a Lotus 47GT to bad it is not in GT6.

Why so serious?

See what I did there?

OK, a little more weirdness. I bought a new 2J (my standard one has 1,000 miles on it), plugged in the exact same specs, and it's not as grippy as my old 2J. The old car rolls a bit more, giving it more grip, instead of being so harsh/rigid and breaking loose. I did a full chassis reinforcement on it a while back, and thought that would return it to factory spec, but I guess not? At any rate, 1:51 is still my fastest lap with it, with an average lap of 1:53. But with the new 2J I'm at 1:53 with an average lap of 1:55. Quite a difference I'd say. I also think the old car is more fun to drive, grip grip grip :).

On a serious note, sweet, sweet car, enjoy it however you see fit. On a not so serious note, I have a question. The cat looking out the door, is that this cat?

I gotta say this is a fine seasonal just to drive the old race cars and see how far you get up the ladder.

I had a great time with the 1969 Ford GT40 race car... its about 1,000kg and 666hp and it does have a lot of straight line speed but its not as fast as the numbers suggest.

The Shelby Daytona is another fun driving car. 597pp and probably the best driving FR platform.

The Challenger I didnt like. Over 700hp and it doesnt feel like it. It doesnt even break 180mph.

All aids off abs 1.
