I don't see what's the issue? Just grind the X2014 Red Bull Challenge - Trial Mountain stage, and you'll have the credits for a 2J after something like an hour.

Just do it, imo. The 2J is one of the best cars in GT6 so anytime you use it to complete and event, it'll pay for itself.

How on Earth do you manage to make this *!§@#§°¬|¢´~]}+]{ Auto Union turn
Does anyone have a decent tune for the Auto Union that can win? Really don't want to spend much to win this.

Thanks!

I can't say anything about this being a "decent" tune, most people would probably look at my tuning settings and think "What the hell?". This is what I used though and it killed off a lot of the snap oversteering, but it can still turn. If you get any off-throttle oversteer, more throttle will help to both stop it and give rotation on corner exit. I finished my race in 6:48, lapping around high 1:03's and low 1:04's when the AI is not a problem.

I don't believe my car has had an oil change. When setting the gearing, change the final gear first, then the max speed, then the individual gears.

I have been getting some PM's asking for setups for the Ferrari and Challenger, here is a couple videos and then the setups.
It is a toss up as to which is more fun, the sliding and smoking of the challenger is addicting, lol.

thank you very much for the tunes but they were not much help, now if you could just come down here and teach my how to drive, lol.PS I went back to your 330 and got my first gold with this car I'm still learning to drive the challenger. you are an amazing driver IMO and everyone else's

Extremely easy win with the 600pp 2J tunes posted. As mentioned, 1m03s is your target for a comfortable win.

Keep on on the black stuff. TCS: 2 and ABS: 1 and no other aids will makes it very easy for a DS3 novice like me.

Daytona Cobra is still the most thrilling way to race this, nostalgic too if you drove it a lot in GT2 like me.

Thanks for the tune, I'll try it tonight . And congrats for your times! đź‘Ť

Edit: Wow, great job @Lewis_Hamilton_, works fine for me. Your tune may seem "What the hell?", but the bizarre old thing definitely needed a radical remedy and you found it, doctor. Now... I'll never ever win this race with her, BUT I'm now able to make clean laps and even find PLEASURE to drive her. You gave me the tools, it's someting between her and me now. Thanks for that, mate.

By the way, how the hell can you finish in 6:48. Are your little fingers stiff or someting?

Thank you very much. I hope to help you some day too. Very happy!! Again thank you. I did notice the loss of power with the turbo. I will give it my best and get back with you.

Super nice win for me with your help. Thank you very much!!

Are there really no other cars to use than the Toyota 7 and Chaparral 2J to ensure a win? Because I keep encountering the 2J, it's just impossible to chase it with my Shelby Cobra Daytona.

I ask this because I don't have either cars on my garage. :ouch:

I tried a few times with my gt40, which I love, but 5th was as close as I could come, so I bought the 2J and have won twice, most recent was a 6:53 against a 330 and a 2J. So you may want to get a 2J, worth it.

If I remember correctly, the Toyota 7 is the prize for some A-Spec event or other. Pretty sure I didn't buy it anyway. So anyone really struggling, dig around and win it if you haven't already. Then it's a case of max power reduction and add ballast til you get it down to 600pp. Found it pretty easy from then to beat any field.

I want to try the Jag next as that thing handles like it's on rails. Still holding out for an Auto Union tune too though doubt that's a winning car.

I like a challenge as well, but not when it is beyond my capability to win, or even come close. I will admit that they have been too easy for a long time, the recent challenge on Nurburgring was great, it took me many tries, buying a couple new cars with varying setups but eventually won. I totally agree with you about GT6 being easier than GT5, But I'm looking at the times on the screenshots, The slowest the Toy 7 has gone on me so far is 6:48, last race was 6:46, I can't even do 7, I've yet to even get a bronze on this one. But I'm going to give up trying to explain my position to players much better than me. Y'all have fun, I'm losing mine. I used to look forward to these. Now?.... :(
I am by no means as fast as most people in this thread but I was to able to win with 2J. Granted the lead rabbit assisted by crashing but I still won.I was running 1.06 I haven't been able to win again with other cars but I know can always take out the 2J. To me it seems like the expert races are about the same for me it really depends the track and what cars I can use. Sometimes I win sometimes I don't. How long I keep at it depends on how bad I want the paint chip.

Having a blast with this. I've won with a Stock Jag XJ13 and a stock P4 - Both needed me to be on top form and the AI to drive like Mansell in Montreal circa '91.
I then had a dash in Draggon's detuned Chaparral 2J - As Darth Vader once said - all too easy - An hours worth of driving and you have paid for the car
Then had a go with Whoosiergirl's P4 - Much faster than stock - Once I managed to turn off the TCS and ABS. Must have reverted to "My little (prancing) pony" spec when I swapped set ups?

Going to have some fun with a stock engine and just the tricksy gearbox and the dark magic ramp angles and the suspension settings too.

What is the consistent lap times to do this? First lap the best I could do is 1:10.8 , BL is 1:08.6 still can't chase them  Maybe put some drivers assist ! :yuck:

1.06 still puts you well under a 7 minute race which, as I said, I am not able to manage. I should have known better than post here anyway where it's all people posting screenshots of how badly they're beating it.

Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe '64 smoking, more time in it. 1:03.373BL .

challenger too, not a @ WhoosierGirl time though. 1:05.419bl. Daytona Anniv. ,2D good drives too.

I too have just used this great car to win against the 2J. On another note, I have just hit the 50 million mark again, all from grinding this event. Time to buy some more cars now.

Glad it worked out for you. I've posted a few tunes before and some people really don't get on with them.

I've never heard that expression, you'd have to explain that to me :dunce: And I don't know, first time around I did it in 6:45.

From reading the posts, I was a little nervous going into this event. I ran the 2J against a 2J and Toyota 7. 6:43.698 total time for a 9.xxx second victory over the AI's 2J. The worst part of the race is getting around the slower cars as you lap a few of them. Of course, the real test will be when I try something other than the 2J as my race car.

1:06, you have a chance.

1:05 should let you have a tight finish.

1:04 will let you win by a small margin.

I was doing 1:03~1:04 laps last night and that let me win by +6s, so 1:04~1:05 is the benchmark, imo.

I'm consistently 4 secs slower per lap in the Toyota 7 than I am in the Chap 2J. That's slightly surprising the gap is that big. Granted the Toyota's main strength is its power, and it's been totally choked to hit 600pp... but still!

I can't recall my 2D laps but I'm pretty sure they're faster than the Toyota's.

Anyone try the GT40 Race Car '69 yet? Thinking about tuning and trying that one out next. This is pretty cool as I'm getting a whole garage full of these cars all tuned up and ready for the track in other events if need be. A lot of these cars I have never driven before and I must say I have been really missing out on some great cars.

Out of curiosity... To those of you who have won with the Toyota 7, how fast have you gone in the main straight? The reason I'm asking is in the photo below where the AI is going 196 mph without the aid of the draft. Is that even possible for us human drivers? I can easily win with the Toyota 7 with times in the upper 6:40s, but I get speeds of under 175 mph without the aid of the draft, and in the lower 190s with the draft. I know the computer AI cheats, but I'm curious how much speed I am losing to those of you who are tweaking the transmission.

The AI 2J can hit 200 mph on the straight without a draft. The best I can get from it without a draft is 186 mph. Could trans tweaking really increase the top speed here? I think the AI must have more than 600 pp.

Wow, you guys are super fast and consistent with this Stratos drives with steering wheel. If I can manage to a 1:07 with my ds3 and got bronze should be very happy.

Tried it, won with it with a modest time of 6:55.

It really needs some tuning IMO. I removed all camber and toe, lowered ride height and stiffened springs a bit. It was driveable and capable of winning, but no way was it fun to drive. Much too nervous. Should be a great car with decent tuning.

Sorry, it was an awkward way to write that I consider you as an alien. :) The little fingers are an allusion to The Invaders, a TV programm that I watched when I was a child. Aliens took human appearance, but it was possible to unmask them because they couldn't move their little fingers. ;)

Ryk
I then had a dash in Draggon's detuned Chaparral 2J

It's Praiano's detuned Chaparral 2J, please see posts 136, 137 and 86.

I should have known better than post here anyway where it's all people posting screenshots of how badly they're beating it.

To me, it's all people helping each other, kindly sharing advice, having fun. Please keep trying, practice is the secret. And come back to tell us when you gold it (because you will)!

Have a nice drive everybody!

Good advice. After an attempt or two at the weekend when I felt I just couldn’t crack this one, I had another go last night with the 2J. Gradually got closer to the Toyota 7 and 2J rabbits as I ran 1:06’s and the odd 1:05, then the gap fell quite dramatically as if they’d slowed up to wait for me. I hadn’t noticed that happening when I was further adrift. The 2J made it easy when it crashed on turn 1, then it was just a case of hauling in the 7 to win by something like 0.2sec. The moral is don’t lose heart if you’re running at a 15sec gap up to lap 4 or so as that will come down.

My tune was just limit power to meet 600pp and adjust gearing to 186mph. Diff, brakes, suspension etc all left untouched, using ABS and TCS 1 on DS3.

I have noticed the mid-pack runners put up a bit of a fight, there’s what I think is a Ferrari which sometimes stuck with me for a lap or so if I didn’t get past cleanly.
