Dear FBI: I just woke up and ate pancakes. Then I played some COD online. Then I got into a fight with a bully at school. Please don't arrest me. I promise I won't go all Columbine on his behind.

Oops.

Doubt they will actually manage this, but as other people have noted previously Facebook has become an obbsetion for millions of people world wide so it would be funny for it to be offline for a couple of hours.

They probably will shut down facebook, they shut down everything else, why not FB?

They're assholes, plain and simple. They started with a "cause" just like everyone else, and now they just try to do whatever they want and impose their way of life on everyone else.
They shut down PSN because one of their buddy's got caught stealing, WAAAAHH.

They are exactly like the government(s) they complain about, they want all the power, they want nobody to know who is doing these things they do, and they want everything their way, or else.
That's how you prove the government 🤬, by being a hypocrite and doing exactly what the government does. :dunce:

The irony is that when I first learned of them, I had hopes for much better. Maybe they were just doing good things, or finding secrets that would be better in the open, maybe even get some people/companies to act properly. Instead just the same old hypocritical BS.

The time is near. :nervous:
I don't use Facebook, or any other social networking site. People cannot understand why I don't use such websites. I just don't see the point. I contact my friends through other methods (phone, PSN, email, etc). I think Facebook consists of too many people that are too nosy along with too many people who show off their belongings or boast about how great they are etc. Just attention seeking. I have saw this though friends accounts. It's just not for me.
Although I have no contact with the website, I would like to see this hack being successful, purely for the public response. I also am not a conspiracist, but I do have the belief that this may very well be true. Government or not, too much info is out there.
It's worth noting though that I do not support any type of terrorism, yet I think this is not such an act. I don't believe that this is not intended to scare the public, but quite the opposite. That or the poor hackers just want some attention.

Removing the ability of others to exercise their free speech is not an exercise of free speech. It's a form of censorship.

Any support for anysuch move is implicit support of fascism.

Would get my vote (just to see everyone panic). The old fashioned way of meeting people down the pub or ringing them up to speak to them, is quickly becoming forgotten.

Lol! Exactly what I think! Thumbs up :)

I'd have to assume that anyone who doesn't mind or supports it would also not mind or support it if GTPlanet got hacked too. No difference as far as I'm concerned.

Needless to say, I do not support... will it happen? don't know.

Doesn't Facebook pay people to hack into their systems so they can fix it? They could profit off this, if they were smart.

We're yet to store all of your personal information whether you want us to or not, build our own profiles of you and your friends (whether they have GTP accounts or not) with face-recognition software and sell them on to advertisers, or whomever takes our fancy.

That's in GTP12.

I hope they can pull it off so I finally have a topic to talk about other than my damn projects for university!

It's funny that with all the crap that goes on in the world a website getting shut down will probably be the peak of morale outrage in 2011.

I hope they can pull it off so I finally have a topic to talk about other than my damn projects for university!
Get wasted, do something stupid, discuss it for weeks.

That's in GTP12.

  I laughed so hard at that.

But yeah, I support the Anons on this task.

Just last night, by chance, I found someone who's profile had a picture of me as their profile photo. You tell me if that's creepy?

I think anon can do good stuff and bad stuff.
This I would consider good, if even alone the fact to make some people realize who addict they are to FB.

I am against facebook with every fiber of my body, so yes

I just can't stand Zuckerberg and his face, and let's face it. He was lucky nothing else. The masses could also have choosen an other social network. And so "his" idea wasn't the brand new revolution as he makes it, it existed before and in a great number: badoo, hi5, myspace,...

Please look at my above post. I used to think the same but then realised that removal of ones freedom of speech is never a good idea.

Says someone who's spent the last two years of his life on an internet videogame forum and who plays videogames?

I doubt there are people that only do Facebook all day and every day.

Who knows... there are people who do nothing but log in to GTPlanet all day, every day... :D

Just keeping it real. I don't particularly like Facebook, but it has its uses. I barely get any e-mails from my family and friends in the US... but on Facebook, we occassionally chat, post messages for each other, and sometimes even get to see what we're all up to. It's kind of nice. Sort of like... like... a forum for family and friends... but easier to use for the non-net types.

-

Let's face it... I'd never see anyone I know here. None of my real-life family and friends is as dorky about cars as I am. (Read: I'm the only auto-journalist and professional vehicle tester in the family) And I'm one of only three who actively posts on internet forums.

Heaven forfend some fiendish hacker actually shuts down the forums. Imagine... the millions upon millions of people addicted to internet forums who waste their lives away without seeing the light of day... ...Oh My Gorsh... GTP is just like Facebook! Quick! Someone call Anon!

With Iphones that sync to your facebook.

There are people that do facebook 70% of the day.

I read that a mum was on facebook and her baby died.
A husband killed his wife because she set she marriage status to single.
Several kids have commited suicide due to facebook.
Cost people thousands though scams.

It should stay down IMO
