Another Fanatec wheel arrives!

So last night I finally tried racing in GT5 using the shifter. I pressed the triangle button before the game because I read somewhere that's how you enable the clutch. Anyways, while driving I can engage the clutch and it seems to work however the shifter doesn't do anything. The paddle shifters (on the Porsche Turbo S wheel) works but the shifter doesn't do anything. Is there a configuration issue I'm missing. I rowed the shifter to each of the gears and the nothing happened in the game (the car was in manual mode and the paddle shifters worked).

Also, when the fan comes on it brings a loud intermittent sound. It sounds as though something is hitting the fan or something weird. I've also had this happen while driving and when I apply the brakes. I was using the Lexus IS F and was braking hard as I was getting used to the car and the wheel. After the fan came on every time I applied the brakes the loud buzzing sound would come on. If I pushed down on the housing very hard it would not be as loud. Is this normal? Is there any way I can fix it?

The clutch is just activated by pressing it I think, no need for the triangle.

Try to calibrate your shifter, also I don't think you can use the padals and the shifter at the same time, only one should work.

Have you tried calibrating your shifter? That's usually the problem. Also, you don't need to press triangle to activate the clutch. Simply depressing the clutch pedal activates it.

The fan issue is something I've heard other people complain about, so it's a known default on some models. If you can, make a video of the problem and let Fanatec know.

;)

cool! WTG!

I am going to wait until early 2011 for more info and reviews and order either the Fanatec GT2 + clubsport pedals or the Thrustmaster T500RS.
I also have an xbox360 that I never use for FM3 or RacePro since I do not have a wheel and that is having me lean towards the Fanatec wheel at this point.
:)
My order for the Carrera is now in "Processing" state, so hopefully that means something good. ;)

I'm with you on waiting for more reviews on the T500RS and GT2. I may want to move up to one of those two, but really, moving to the Carrera from my old, old Logitech Driving Force from like 2000 will be a big step.

I just realized I forgot the shifter paddles, though, and sounds like there's the pit bug if you use the H-gate with the G25/G27, so I'm kicking myself a little. Anyone know if the same issue applies to using the Fanatec wheels? I'm assuming it probably does, since it's more likely coding in the game than hardware issues.

Thanks. I'll make sure to calibrate the shifter.

When I get the sound again I'll make sure to record a video of it on my phone and send it to Fanatec. I understand that they're a bit slow to get back to you but they do try and help you out.

I found I can use either one in GT5. Also you probaly do have to calibrate your shifter , especially if you did the firmware upgrade.

There is supposed to be a You Tube video of how to ellieviate this problem (fan hitting shrowd or something like that). I believe it is supposed to be a simple fix but does require a partial disasemble of the wheel cover. Again I believe by what I read of others with this issue it is supposed to be pretty simple. I think if you contact Fanatec they will allow you to try this mod and not invalidate your warranty. Be sure and contact them to be sure.

I received my UPS Shipping Notification, and it states only 1 package, and 15lbs. Does this mean only my ClubSport Pedals have shipped, and the GT3RS wheel will be in another shipment?

Or have they streamlined it so it all ships in big box now? Thanks!

is it worth getting the gt2 over the PWTS? i can get the turbo s with clubsports for $699.95AUD but if i buy the GT2 with clubsports its going to be around $750-$800. is it worth paying that extra $50-$100 for the new wheel? of course the answer will be how i feel about the GT2

the GT2 is a very good looking wheel no doubt but is it worth having alcantara over leather? how does the alcantara feel?

I can tell you when my GT2 arrives and I compare. I cannot believe it'll feel $50-$100 nicer though. The PWTS offers the same functionality and is virtually the same wheel.

Im considering purchasing the gt2. Can I use the pedals and shifter from my g27? Do I need to purchase some sort of adapter?

The GT2 comes with an adapter so you can use your G27 pedals but you can't use the G27 shifter I believe.

It seems that Fanatec is no longer selling Gt3 rs v2 as a clubsport edition. Was hoping to get one next month. I don't have an Xbox and Can't fork out the extra 150 for the gt2.. I would rather spend the 150 on a racing stand...

It was a much better deal compared to the $500 gt2 clubsport package. The difference in price between the wheels was only $70 but the gt clubsport packages were $150 more.

Hi, not sure if similar posted, also related to CSP's. Ordered CSP tuning Kit when it was first for sale on Fanatec web Shop. Just got email, Kit is being shipped to UK :)

Cheers BOB

How long does it takes to get a respond from Fanatec support? I sent them an email on Sunday about that gas problem i have, included everything (video, serial number, invoice..). Still waiting for reply

I'm glad I got the GT3 clubsport package. It does seem like they are charging alot more for basically the same stuff. I could buy the standalone GT2 wheel and have 2 wheels plus pedals and shifters for about 50 bucks more than what they are charging for the GT2 package.

Have you guys noticed that in GT5 if you turn off the ABS function on the wheel that you get vibration when you give it gas? It appears it only supports one or the other, I guess because GT5 doesn't have internal support for vibration motors on wheels like Forza does with its built in engine vibration allowing you to use ABS as well.

I found the vibration on the gas in GT5 gives it a really good feel when travelling fast! If you use Clubsport pedals and the Rennsport Wheelstand you can feel the vibration all the way from the wheel to the pedals themselves, really immersive feeling my gas pedal vibrating as I fly down the track!

So wait, the GT3 RS V2 is no longer available for sale?

My girlfriends ordered and already paid for the GT3 RS V2 CS Ed. which should be here in Jan...

From what I read on 911wheel.com the GT3RS V2 Clubsport Edition will be back. They are out of stock on components and need to fill existing GT3 orders as well as a bunch of GT2 orders. I'll bet you see the package back after the first of the year.

That's really good news! was already considering going for a g27. I don't mind waiting for next year, was really planning to buy it in January any way..!

The GT2 comes with a cable that allows you to use your G25/G27 pedals with it. You can't use the shifter though as far as I know.

Just got notice that my Carrera wheel and paddles have been shipped! WOO! Should make it in before the holidays!

I got tracking info, and it should be here Monday! I'm positively giddy!

Any PWC owners have any hints or tricks for set up? I did see the website mentioned earlier about tuning, but it mostly has stuff for the other wheels, and not much on the Carrera.

The tuning functions of the PWC are exactly the same as all other Fanatec wheels. No tips for setup. The only thing I would suggest is to calibrate your wheel and shifter (read the manual).

Other than that. Enjoy your wheel!
