I bought this on Friday and have been grinding on it over our while being iced in. I was on the fence due to it being a pre-release type thing and it lacking a ton of content. For the first time, I am quite impressed with the driving model. With the right combo of stability control and wheel settings, I don't think I've ever played anything that feels as real to me. Between the weight transfer and the way the tires lose grip, it is damn close to perfection. Last night I jumped on pCars for the first time in a month or so, and I like AC quite a bit more at this point. I love the details in pCars, but to me AC looks more realistic for whatever reason although I can't put my finger on it. Limiting the saturation to about 90% and a solid 60-70fps which helps tremendously. I love the sounds of the cars, the over run, backfiring, gravel effect, etc.

I love the switchable replay cameras, especially the static camera. The realism shoots through the roof with the in and out of focus, sun/light glints and imperfections in the road surface that cause the car to undulate. I can't wait for additional content.

I have enjoyed seeing the progress pCars makes, but something with the way some of the cars drive just doesn't feel right. They will surely fix it all up before its release, but for now AC all the way.

Too many race cars... I like driving them, but I prefer stock cars. I hope kunos balance it out and wont end up with too many race cars on AC.
I hope the exact opposite.
Yawn.

I'd rather have a slow car I can drive quickly, than another fast car I can only drive slowly.
It's an F40 dude, a legend. You can play GT6 for key cars.

If Kunos can do it justice and make it the car we saw Chris Harris grinning like a crazed monkey driving on Drive Channel last month, then I'll be very very happy. It's a real iconic supercar and deserves to be on any list of key historical cars to simulate in a sim like AC.

This I don't really understand. Yes it's iconic and every game/sim feels it needs to be included, but that doesn't make it enjoyable to drive. Typically the fact that it is considered a "supercar" means it isn't so much fun to drive as many other "regular" cars. Honestly I would much rather get one of the BRZ/FRS/GT86 variants.

That's your opinion. The F40 should be a blast, its turbo lag alone will make it a fun ride, if they properly programmed everything.

Yes, only my opinion.
As an aside, do you work in marketing? Turbo lag as a selling point. :)

:P Don't forget that this car was developed in the late '80's, it's not full of electronic helpers etc.
I'm old enough that I was an adult when the F40 came out. I prefer cars without electronics, but the F40 is too much for my old, slow reflexes to get it anywhere near its limits. And I hate crashing.

sounds are truly epic - love the growl. if PD don't fix sounds I may have to check this out

car list has the essentials so far: Ferrari F40, 458 GT3, BMW Z4 GT3, M3 E92, Merc SLS GT3, McLaren MP4 GT3

great they are thinking of adding Aston, Audi, Nissan, RUF. hopefully GT3 classes to have some great online Blancpain Endurance type races

hopefully they will add GT race versions of GT40, Corvette C6 ZR1 in the future

missing Nordschleife, Suzuka and Bathurst :( hopefully they plan on adding these sooner rather than later

Ha, you can't blame Kunos if you don't have what it takes to tame the beast!

Just kidding. :P

On a more serious note PD's F40 doesn't sound good enough so I very well understand Kunos trying to make justice to this bi-turbo legend.

Nordschleife is already scanned, all they need is the licensing issue to be resolved before it can be released...

Where do you get that information? I've been following the forums and nobody seems to know whats happening, wasn't any indication that they had the track/data.

Edit : Concerning the F40, I'm really excited for that car. It is true that we can drive it in GT6 and that is great, I'm not disagreeing with that at all. However.... To me Assetto Corsa is a different experience, the level of simulation and realism is on a different scale and while I enjoy GT6 and occasionally get what I'd consider a believeable realistic driving experience I don't find that the details are really nailed down like Assetto Corsa

In addition to that, GT6 has a mostly weight transfer based FFB, this is easy to notice because you can feel the torque steer as a force through the wheel in a RWD car, which would never happen because the steering wheel is connected to the front wheels, not the rear. Though GT6 wheel feel/ffb works fine it doesn't to me compare with the tyre based FFB of Assetto Corsa. In AC the FFB can be more subtle because of this but also more realistic feeling.

I think I saw it somewhere, post from the staff a couple of months backs stating that they couldn't telease ot thank's to the current situation of the Ring not allowing them to obtain a license...

The have the GP track I think (scanned). Probably would want to scan NS too but I doubt they have it already.

Yeah. I think, like others have said, they've mentioned difficulties with obtaining permission for NS. And for the guy who wants Suzuka and Bathurst, as much as we'd all love those two, they've also mentioned it's difficult for them to scan tracks outside of Europe because of their size. Unless AC does incredible sales, I think that's probably too ambitious to expect.
