And the final one was Tom Watson. With a classic, turn of the century snapshot.

Won the league with Sunderland in 1892, 1894, 1895 and with Liverpool in 1901 and 1905.

Nobody fancied dragging this back?

Who is the only player to play in the top four divisions of England and the top four divisions of Scotland?

This is a tough one, so I will permit research.

Random trivium: Peter Shilton amassed 125 caps for England, before his international retirement in at the age of 40. Amazingly, 48% of these caps came after the age of 35 (61/125).

Imagine how many more caps he could have had, had he not been in rotation with Ray Clemence for x number of years.

I think this may be too hard for even Famine to get.

Searched around as best I could for today.

Robert Earnshaw has scored a hat-trick in the top 4 divisions of English football, Internationally and also in Eurpoean competition. (Not sure how reliable my source is there though.)

Alan Cork has scored in the top four divisions of English football.

And Steve Finnan has played in Conference, League 2, League 1, Championship, Premiership, FA Trophy, FA Cup, League Cup, UEFA Cup, Champions League, Intertoto Cup, World Club Cup and World Cup.

Thought I could find the answer by looking through the Hull City players of 01/02 but nope.

These two have already been questions in this thread.

Alan Cork has scored in the top four divisions of English football.

Not uniquely. Brett Ormerod, Luther Blissett, Matt Derbyshire and Jon Walters have done it too. Ormerod and Blissett did it with one club (Blackpool and Watford). In addition, Ian Ashbee and Boaz Myhill have played in all four divisions of England, also with one club (Hull City).

But to have played in all four divisions of Scotland too? It's a tricky one, I grant you.

Great to see this thread back!👍

Can you give me a bit of a clue Liquid?...is he a well-known player that most people would have heard of?

The player is a Scottish striker.

His one and only Premiership appearance was for Southampton. It really is an obscure player, you'll have to do some research.

Actually, I know this for the most bizarre reason you can imagine.

When I got Sensible World of Soccer '96/'97 I chose a fourth division team to player/manage up the leagues to glory*. As a South Yorkshireman, I had to pick Doncaster Rovers for some local pride and this guy was their star striker at the time and thus I kept him in my sixteen even in the European Cup (as it was then) - though the guy had long since moved onto Hearts.

As a result I'm familiar with the name and thus familiar with the unique record he holds (it stuck in my head). And I won't spoil the question by getting it first hit. But I've given you clues :D

*I later chose to transfer to Manchester United. I managed a coup by selling all of their up-to-£15m (game limit) star players for £15k 4th division drones but still won every game and competition. I left after one season for Hillsborough and Manchester United subsequently plummeted down the leagues, hovering at the bottom of Division Three for all time. Totally worth it.

Right, so ive got a website up with every single player in Doncasters history, theyre position former club and apperance and goalscoring record..and i think ive got it..

is it Colin Cramb?...

is it Colin Cramb?...

Why yes, yes it is.

His well-travelled career includes Doncaster, Hearts, Fortuna Sittard, Shrewsbury and Stenhousmuir.

I'm a bit cross that Famine knew it already though!

Over to you, MUSC.

As I say, total fluke.

Sensible World of Soccer taught me more about world geography than my geography teachers did. I can name at least three major cities in just about any country on the planet large enough to have a) three major cities and b) a professional football league in the country, because SWOS.

I knew it was Cramb, as on that site i just mentioned, you can click on a players name and theyre entire playing record comes up..i only just realised!...Cramb made his one and only Southampton in 93/94

Anyway my question is this....what was significant about Andy Selva's strike against Liechtenstein in April 2004?

Ultimate Soccer Manager taught me about bungs, betting on your own team to lose and the hilarity of hearing a commentator shout "DICKOV!".

---

Andy Selva's goal was the first San Marino goal/win in God knows how long.

It was LMA Manager that tought my about football fullstop!.

Whoa!..ok, i didnt think anyone would get that one so quick!

It was the winning (and only) goal in San Marinos only every victory!..

..its your turn again Liquid pal...

Is that where old Alf used to sit, before he died at the grand old age of 112. He never missed a game apart from once where he had to get some new teeth fitted?

Doesn't look like anyone is going to get it. Since it can't be worked out, I'l leave a pretty big clue and if nobody gets it by tomorrow tea time I'l just say the answer.

Clue : The person in question was the chairman of a major electronics company who were strongly involved with the football team who play at the stadium where the seat is permanently empty.

Just the stadium name will do.

Yes.

At the age of 100, Frits Philips frequently visited the home football matches of PSV. He did not use the stadium's business lounge; instead he sat in the crowd — section D, row 22, seat 43. The administration of PSV has announced that this seat will remain empty as a memorial for their faithful supporter.

When England beat Germany 5-1 back in 2001, which members of the Germany XVIII that day plied their trade at British clubs?

Ive been thinking about this one on and off all afternoon and i cant think of anyone else!..
