The GR Yaris works well for this. I managed to do the fastest lap of around 2:11 with it. The car is fully tuned with sports hards. The race is definitely hard and took me a good number of tries to nail it. Currently exploring the option of other cars that can do this. The Impreza 22B seems to be a good candidate.
Any AWD, I ran Audi R8 with adapted Praiano tune (more power and weight, less downforce to hit 300 kph on the straight), fastest lap 2:10.7, the GTO also did it like a boss but slower because build was worse. 22b, GT-R, even Yaris will destroy this race as you demonstrated.

With RWD I know the M3 E92 and Maserati GranTurismo are among the best cars. You're a bit slower but that's because it's very hard to accelerate out of the hairpin without TC.

My best has been 1:13 but i average around 1:14-1:17 on a good day. However with the "slow" cars coming in your way it's easy to bump into them or a barrier resulting in the penalty and mechanical damage. My advice: grind till Polyphony fixes it! My Tomahawk X has been driven around 1400km already thanks to this race😁
Well, apparently it seems the AI is aware of my post and in this session from laps 6 to 9 all hell broke loose 🤣 cars swerving everywhere, multiple collisions, 15 seconds penalties in all laps and even two heavy collisions while in penalty that drove me to pit lane even.. 🤷🏻‍♂️🤣

But it’s all silly fun…! For serious race I still go to Sardegna and Le Mans 😊

Having trouble getting the tomahawk x to correct pp. I've dummied the first 3 gears and got the ratios at 9.619, 9.85 and 8.663 for 1,2 and 3 but the pp is still about 1300. Any tips? When I tweak ratios here and there the pp just turns into a warning symbol.

EDIT: never mind, kept fiddling and it worked

I just realized that you can also use that specific Tomahawk build in the Deep Forest Endurance...

You need to adjust de gear ratios as @tiberiusteng said earlier in his post.

'' The gear ratios won't keep constant when you adjusting so just repeatedly fiddle with them and press triangle until it's under 600 (?) ''
Can you explain a bit more about the process? Are you saying that I need to fiddle with gear ratios at random and suddenly the numbers will jump into the 9.xxxx range on those first few gears?

Settings for SRT Tomahawk X VGT for starting with intermediate tires.
Don’t know if it helps anyone to be a tiny bit faster, but it improved my lap times a little (about 3 seconds/lap). It uses up more fuel so you’ll need to use fuel mapping (I just turn it to 6 for the last 3-4 laps).

For everyone asking about the Tomahawk Tune:

Basically the first 3 gear ratios need to be set at minimum. This will happen in two steps. For the first step, set the speed to minimum (around 55 km/h ish) for the first three gears. As soon as you do this, the first three gears will "open up" allowing you to reduce them even more. At this stage, you'll be able to set the ratio at the exact point that is shown here. After this, set the remaining gears to the ratio shown here. Also remember to set the ECU and and power restrictor to 70. Lastly, this works only with racing hard tires so don't mess with it!

What was your best time with these tires? I feel that these tires maybe useful for the first 2-3 laps because after this the track dries up for majority of the part.

Works with Sports soft and inters too.

I bit the bullet and did it with the Tomahawk.

I got to say, this is the stupidest thing I have ever done on any gran turismo, and I’ve done my share of stupidity on this series since gt1. When the game sees you enter this car for this race it should automatically give you the credits and lock you out of the game for 30 minutes.

This is a bug. The car has better grip at 400km/h than a gt3 car on intermediate tires and 100km/h. To make things even more silly, I turned on all assists. Even auto gears and auto drive. Kaz should have appeared in my screen and told me to gtfo and called me a cheater 😂

I will never do this race again on the Tomahawk and I won’t touch it for a while. If I ever need credits I’ll do the sardegna or even the rally or an oval. Not this **** show again.

If you care about this don’t use this car. It will suck any kind of enjoyment out of the experience.

Btw, I did this on a controller on my standard ps4. If you do this on a wheel you deserve another 1 mil credits.

At points I thought the game was going to glitch. How on earth can the game keep up with rendering and loading textures at this speed I do not know. Sometimes it almost didn’t. The walls were almost disintegrating.

Edit: I got the CRB even after over 1 minute in penalties for hitting barriers. 😂 😂 😂

Edit2: replay saved. This is a benny hill classic.

I love this race. If someone asks me, "what's the essence of modern Gran Turismo", I show them this race.

Night/day transition.

Track drying physics.

The way physics engine handles fuel consumption and tire wear.

Pit strategy gives you the win.

Multiple cars can win, and win well.

Even the iconic opponents like NSX, RE Amemiya and so on.

This game, at its best, it's incredible. The flaw of the game is not doing more of this. We want more. Not more pay to win. Please, PD.

Most VGTs are stupid fun, but I like VGT vs VGT, not so much VGT vs real car. Because Tomahawk was the result of SRT going nuts. "What if" money was unlimited and FCA board didn't clip our wings.

Just done the race 3 times. On Sports soft with fuel map 2 all the way I can easily do 17 minute races and if really bothered with few to no penalties, sub 17 easily.

If you want to spend more time than necessary to grind, that's your prerogative 🤷🏼‍♂️.

Having fun in this session with the Tomahawk X, as I said earlier this is my Special Time Attack on wet tracks with moving obstacles for free credits… and the reason I’m doing this it’s because I haven’t done the circuits experience yet, and since being a single father of two teenagers (one with autism) plus WFH, my virtual bank account is very low still. This morning alone I made more than $7 million credits and still have a few hours left to play.

But I also know this is only temporary because PD will release a 1.12 soon fixing something about dealer invitations and I’m sure this glitch will get the axe. After this get fixed, I’ll be back with my tuned R34 which was my go to for this race. 👍

I’d like to balance fun with grind and I have other things grind for the time being. If you like spending your time doing this race over and over again with this kind of silliness m, I guess that is your prerogative 🤷

Can you share your setup or point me to the post where you have done it? Thanks

I used to get 1:32-1:35 per lap with the hard compound, now it’s 1:29-1:31 per lap (except when lapping swerving opponents). Admittedly, I’m NOT a particularly fast or good driver. That’s why I put this tune out, in case anyone finds it works better for them as well.

Edit: My best time so far was 1:26.700 (on hards it was 1:29.9xx), but that doesn’t say much given that I’m not that good.

I found this race quite fun so that point is quite subjective. Not like the AI give a good race anyway if you use a more normal car, so speeding up the process by over 10 minutes per race is great in my book.

Don’t get me wrong. I think it can be fun with a normal car. Not with the Tomahawk. At least not for me.

I meant the R34. Sorry should have been more explicit. I used that for the Tomahawk.
Oh it’s ok, check out Praiano’s tune for it, although I modified it a bit to accommodate RH 👍 just a bit of trial and error to get something close to your tastes

It's provides zero challenge so mentally it's not stimulating at all but I did enjoy belting out 3 races in under an hour and then going on a shopping spree 🤭 I bought an SLR, LP640, Diablo GT, Ferrari 365, '02 Viper and a Honda Beat.

Personally, I don't grind at all. If there's a race that I'd like to do, and a car I'd like to try for it, I do it for enjoyment. The payouts now are high enough that there isn't really any need to grind, because we have 3 races that pay decent money, and many cars can be used for more than one of them, so you'll always have enough credits to buy the next car you'd like to try. Certainly if you do the new missions and the circuit experiences you'll have enough in the bank that you can just buy a new car each time you do one of the 3 repeatable high payout races and never run out of credits.

Awesome suggestion for the Audi R8. Overtook Gallo on the 2nd lap 🤣
Later im gona try it again with some Areo parts. See if i can remain quick on the straights but be much smoother on the corners.

Mr kokomo in 2nd was definitely taking it slow 🤣🤣

Was a lot of fun.

Hard to turn down 3.3mn every hour and ten minutes though.

That's awesome. First time I see the game allowing all tires but Race Hards on race entry. You can't switch to them before the race starts but I guess you cant pit for mediums or softs when the track dries.

Thanks for this clarification! I did it and it worked perfectly.

Didn't particularly enjoy the "race" but still got 825,000 CR for 25 minutes of appallingly bad driving.

I don't think I'll do it again. I'd rather use the script grind method if I want to earn credits and reserve my driving time for fun races.

Works with Sports soft and inters too.
How?When i euipe inters or SS or anything other than RH the pp symbol shows a triangle with exclamation mark.Even if i back out then enter settings it still shows the same triangle.Everything else works with RH pp down to a bonkers 595.What am i doing wrong? All the figures are the same as in the screenshots.
