Forgot about my rental Avenger which did a decent job of allowing me to take a long-exposure astro-photography shot.

...so I'm usually 36-42 months behind in most of my photos, sorry.

Also, continuing the rental theme...

Nothing exciting about it. 8L A3

I've seen a couple of the Pacifica here in the UK during the summer season. I'm surprised it wasn't sold here, as it was different enough to appeal to the crossover crowd.

Ho... Ly... 🤬...

I'm confused. I don't know whether to laugh my ass off or fall asleep in this thread. I do like how the OP used "beige" not as a color, but as a word synonymous with "boring".

Not sure if this would be considered "boring" but it looks pretty average and I love it. 2008-2014 Chevrolet Tahoe

I sort of see it as the Crown Vic of SUV's.

Tahoe, which is very probably the worst off-road car in the whole of human history. It’s too ugly, too big, too thirsty, too slow, not well enough equipped and hopeless when it’s presented with snow, mud, gravel, soil, grass, stone, drizzle or even a light breeze. It doesn’t work on the road either and when I took one into the desert I ended up coming home on a camel — that’s true, that is.

It's a luxury SUV, not off roader

And it can't be that bad since a lot of US law enforcement use them as well as the government,

There's also a lot of Chevy Impalas in use by government and law enforcement. But that car shouldn't be appreciated in any thread.

To be fair, you used an image of a Tahoe Hybrid, which in all aspects is neutered compared to the regular Tahoe. A regular Tahoe with the right options can look pretty sharp:

So you saw an old Jeremy Clarkson review. Nice

Perodua Kelisa

This is without doubt the worst car, not just in its category, but in the world. It has a top speed of 88mph but takes so long to reach it that no one has ever lived long enough to verify the claim... Also, its name sounds like a disease.

I drive Chinese cars for a living. And I can honestly say... no... not really.

As for boring car appreciation, this might just be my next car:

suzuki-celerio-5.jpg

67 wild horses. Handling that isn't quite as crisp as a Swift. Not even close.

But it's cheap. It's got a lot of space. And... it's cheap.

I must say I've got a lot of time for the Celerio. It's one of the few brand new cars I've driven, and it was surprisingly better than I expected. Stupid name aside, it's definitely likable, despite being nothing more than a white good really (even more so than the Altos of the past).

I have too much experience with these and using the 4wd system to believe what you said even in the least. Sure it's no serious off-roader but to act like it can't handle snow, grass, or a drizzle?

Relax, he's just quoting Top Gear...again. And then again for something different. Once more, to be sure. Then, he posts memes we've all heard a dozen times. Also, more Clarkson quotes, because adults that act like spoiled 15-year-olds are quotable and therefore we'll hear about them for the rest of our days, instead of drawing on actual experience.

Boring cars?

*insert every single everyday cars*
I'm not sure either of you have quite got the point of this thread. The idea here is the appreciation of boring cars - finding things to like about cars you normally wouldn't give a second glance.

It is neither a thread to list cars you simply dislike, nor a thread for obvious statements like "everyday cars are boring". We already know that. What we don't know is why you might like a particular "boring" car.

Citroën ZX: quintessentially French, but boring design. Still retains a Citroën character somehow.

Alfa Romeo 146: the last Alfa Romeo powered by a boxer engine, which makes a strange, but remarkable sound. At the same time, the 146 ushered in Walter de Silva's new design language for Alfa Romeo, which more famously begat the famous 156 a whole year after the debut of the 146.

Another semi-interesting fact: it looks very similar to its sister car, the Alfa 145, but the only body panels shared by the two cars are the bumper, bonnet and fenders. This is because the 145 was designed by Chris Bangle just before he left FIAT, whereas the 146 was always a de Silva car from the ground-up (both working under. While similar, the 145 was, in other words, the end of an era, and the 146 was the beginning of a new one.

FIAT Stilo: a terribly boring, unreliable and unremarkable car and a huge sales flop. However, the 3-door Abarth didn't look half bad and came with the FIAT Group 2.4-litre, inline five, which had decent power and a sweet sound. That is about what the Stilo had going for it.
