Does the season start next week ?

I will attend all races as usual , I have a pretty good attendance record :)

Sorry about the rage quits but it is the pre season.

The car is a challenging little car it doesnt like to be pushed by me at all

Sorry forbeing away guys. Il' try using dfgt. Can Simeone give me some target time on next race? Holydays are the worst for me to tra in and race

I was running low-md 1:38s if I remember correctly. I'll run some laps today and let you know.

I'm certainly in for the whole season. :)

Yes the Megane is a difficult car to drive, the rear can step out when you least expect it to and its not always easy to catch it. With the grip level set to real, it's vital to keep all 4 wheels on the track at all times, as soon as the tyres get dirty it becomes real slipppery.

The key to this car is to drive it as smooth as possible, especially on the corner exits, I'd also advise people to actually drive slightly slower in order to remain consistent and avoid the car biting.

This car could quite easily become one of the most rewarding cars to drive to date. We can tame the beast. Lol

I'm using a G27 wheel with manual gears. I'm relatively new to driving rear wheel drive cars with the wheel though, so I'm learning how to correct the oversteer. I've also turned off the driving line and gear/speed indicator. I've always used the driving line as a reference point, so now I'm learning how to race properly (I've removed the stabilisers and armbands).

Gonna be practicing for a bit if anyone is interested. Room closed, gotta practice for the flyin miata cup!

OK I've made a couple of changes to the race format and PP handicap system to help speed things up a bit and make it more efficient. (check OP for full details)

The 10-minute qualifying session will now take place before Race 1 instead. This removes the need to reset the track before we start as the Qualifier will do this for us. I will change the PP down to 506 and this will do the job of kicking everyone off track. Make sure you're in the lounge by about 7.05pm after PP handicap checks are done (and get there earlier if you have a PP handicap!!!), as that's when the session will begin regardless of who is or isn't there. I'll post up who has what PP handicap for R1 in the days leading up to the race, so make sure you check. For R1 it will be championship positions again.

Race 2 will be the reverse-grid race, and Race 3 will be based on Race 2 results, but won't be reversed. This should hopefully do something to balance out the fact that the change of Q means the quick drivers would effectively have two 'good' races a night, as opposed to one in the Integras when we had Q for R2.

Also, I've confirmed the change to the handicap system whereby if you miss Round 1 (like @adeadsnipermatt), then you have to start Race 1 of the first week you attend from the back of the grid. I know it's turning what was an advantage into a disadvantage effectively, but I'm not sure there's a fair middle ground here?

Another thing to keep in mind Az is that this is basically my home track. I've had good success here in the past in other series and my family is from Indy and I go to the track every chance I get. Also, if you are doing your practicing offline you will be slower than online. The cars seem to grip better in the lobby. I want to point out to everyone that turn 1 is a calamity waiting to happen. I think this will be a popular overtaking point because of the tow you get going down the front stretch. If you divebomb someone into turn 1 and they don't expect it there is almost no room to take evasive action and a crash is almost inevitable. You'll want to make sure you have good overlap before trying to pass here so that the driver on the outside can plan his line and braking point accordingly. I LOVE this track so I'll be hoping for a good result as it's the best one for me on the schedule. Just my two cents.:P

I am pleased with this revised system , qualy should always be before race 1 anyways :)

From my experiences in the pre season I just want to stay away from others as much as i can the car to car contact is even worse to correct than the kerbing or oversteer snaps

Well I'm using my driving force gt wheel at the moment but for the last two seasons I was using a pad so I'm new to the wheel and therefore not as fast yet.speaking of fast my trial lap times on indi are averaging low to mid 1:37's tho PB is a 1:36.9 so far....it's going to be an interesting test of restraint to not over drive the car with slipstream effecting the downforce

thats why your spinning so much canyon , this is not a easy car to get used to a wheel with

my excuse for spinning so much , well i havent thought of a good one yet so i just blame the car

OK this confirms my worst fears.... I'm three seconds off pace.

Rolo - I think that the changes look good. Qualifier for race 1 will be quite nice, obviously the faster guys will have the PP handicap based upon their championship position, so it should be quite entertaining.

I agree with the decision you made regarding anyone that misses round 1 of the season. It may seem harsh but it does address the issue that arose last season and that's a good thing. The only other alternative would be to force a success penalty on anyone missing round 1, but starting at the back should suffice.

Indy should be a good track for the car, I have done a few laps around there in the Megane and although I was slow, I can't recall any nasty surprises. Turn 1 is always interesting but I trust people to be well aware of that and brake early. There are no prizes here for reckless moves (other than penalty points), so hopefully it'll be a clean race.

I'll be doing a bit of practice on Indy prior to the race, so if anyone is around on Thursday afternoon drop me a message or jump in my room.

As Rolo said....checking in takes a long while, this is usually because a few people don't know what PP they should be running and they have to adjust their power limiter prior to joining the track. Can everyone please take note of your starting PP for race 1 and have your car ready to go as soon as possible. I also keep a note of all PP values next to me on race day, so that between races I can adjust my car before Rolo checks me in, it saves loads of time and I highly recommend it. Thanks.

i like these changes, it's more like the real BTCC. in answer to what i use, hmmm. i'd say pad with manual gears. i got a G27 for christmas but i haven't got anywhere to put it yet, i just rest it on my lap. LOL. so its taking me a while to get used to it so im using my pad for the megane series. its a good car as long as you keep it, say, a meter away from the kerb and grass lool

I had a mate that used an old bedside cabinet. He removed the three drawers and sat the pedals in the bottom and fastened the steering wheel to the top. It was crude but it worked. Lol

Take your time with the wheel, it takes some getting used to. When I swapped to the wheel it slowed me down and I made more mistakes too.
