Ya, Forza & GT are primarily car collectors games as well as marketing platforms for the automotive industry. The Races are only a vehicle to make collecting them somewhat rewarding. I admit i love the instant gratification that lies within this type of game and do not wish GT & Forza to become actual racing games. In the end, this casualness is exactly the reason why these franchises are million sellers and shift consoles like hot cookies.

And the experiment that PCars brings to consoles is closely watched by all the other racing franchises out there. If it turns into a hit (which im hoping for) then you certainly will see offers from kunos and sector 3 for these platforms too.

Some cars currently the ai struggle in. so you have to boost the difficulty more than normal. currently its mainly just the karts but certain track/car combinations Will require boosting.
I'm currently just editing my Uk clio cup races to give you an idea of what a season is like.

Or, conversely, if you enter a race with a tiny PP and still win, the same applies.
I can have some pretty good racing (for a PS2 game) with the AI in Enthusia on Expert, creating a race where the AI drive cars in one class, and I drive a car from 1-2 classes below that, with upgrades for a fighting chance. For example, racing a Honda Accord Euro-R against cars like the Lancer Evo, NSX, or Skyline GT-R. Or a Subaru Young SS against modern 4-cylinder compacts on a track where the AI struggle horribly on a specific corner, similar to what @Willfred_1 said.

With WMD members to try car/track combinations, hopefully many of those typical bottlenecks will be ironed out. :)

Forza 5 is much the same as GT - choose fastest car within the Performance Index class, point and squirt, rinse and repeat.

Horizon 2 was neat, Because it tailors the AI to accommodate you choosing a lesser car than the class best. You can still win, but it rewards using cars you enjoy rather than spamming the best one.

Do you guys have an idea already for your career plans?

I'm still undecided at this moment. On one hand, I'd like to start out on the bottom with Karting, and work my way up. On the other hand I'm really looking forward to be racing in the various GT3 championships. As the game gives you the freedom of picking your starting point, it's gonna be hard not to start in GT3 immediately.

So I have a couple of options:
- Start out in Karting and see where it takes me
- Start out in Karting and try to direct my career path towards the GT3 and Endurance championships
- Start directly in GT3 and make a career in all championships these cars are involved in.
- The one above, combined with a second career slot where I start out in Karting and work my way up in either open wheel or prototypes.
- ...

So many possibilities :)

Yeah I probably won't start at the karting stage...

I also don't think I'll be jumping into career straight away either. I'll be spending the first few weeks dialing in the wheel and setting up various cars in TTs. Then my CPX adapter will arrive and I'll have to re-do all of that so my V2's feel right! :D

I intend to run full length events in career mode at least at the start so I suspect progress will be slow. However I intend for the game to last a long time.

I'll be trying all cars in a combination of testing and one off races just to get a feel for what everything feels like.

I certainly want the Clio Cup to be early and see what offers (if any) come my way. I may start with Karting though. The one off invite events could be interesting along with gaps in the calendar. If I'm right in thinking we are free to choose to run testing sessions on those non event days I will probably do a lot of that trying out within the career mode. No plans after the Clio Cup as I will go with the flow. Ultimately I want to try everything.

I think that I will start in Karting then see what contracts come to me. However, open wheel will probably take priority.

Well it depends on the category :D But they are all more or less similar to their real life counterparts.

So the GT and endurance classes are set per time? It would be silly to race 20 laps instead of having a countdown timer. R3E has this done very well.

If you are doing a 12 hour race, can you save your current race and come back to it later? (I.e. run 30mins or so before work, save, turn off your consol/pc, work, come home, turn on the game, continue your race)

Somewhere in the other threads I've read that currently they don't have a mid-race save feature.
But that doesn't mean we will never get it.

Mind that GT5 didn't have this option for nearly a year.

A couple questions that hopefully haven't been asked yet.

1) Will A.I. drivers also progress? It would be cool if you ended up racing someone in LMP that you raced in the GT classes.

2) Can you do different races over the course of a season? In other words, of you are doing the U.S. GT3 championship can you do Le Mans?

Thanks.

I'll start at the bottom rung; karting and go up from there following the money all the way to the top. Or, if there is no money rewards, I'll follow the next most expensive car :) Unless I decide to change it up.

1) I frankly dont know, sorry.
2) Yes. Besides your main season schedule, you will receive invitational races and Le Mans is one of them.

Just has a quick flick through and can't see the answer so here goes :

Will we have team mates in some categories ? Always a good benchmark to be able to compare lap times in practice and nice to out qualify and out race them aswell .
Cheers

Darn, i'm not that sadomasochistic in order to do a long endurance race in one go, so i'll have to wait for the mid race save feature to arrive until i can do the 24hrs of Le Mans..

Hope that is a point people are nagging over at WMD too, as with the beautiful day/night transitions and variable weather a 24 hr race must be so enjoyable in PCARS.

If it makes sense we will get it at some point. (as saving mid-race on a long endurance race does) ..these are all well known issues among the devs, there is just not enough hours in a day to get it all done for the release (I hear many already do 16h long days.. so they ARE trying to please you guys)

They are doing nothing for 8 hours a day?! Shameful
