It'll be a good while until I progress though the career mode to reach the races that are hours long. No worries for me if they take a little time to get everything in.

Game development is basically magic to me with my knowledge of how it all works. I don't mind the build up to being shown my card, so long as i get to pick from the deck.

The idea was to remove WMD and pCARS away from the reality of EA and Turn 10 whereby DLC is being used as a profit machine to fleece as much money as possible out of people. Don't get me wrong, of course we're going to make money on them, but the aim is to make worthwhile additions to the game, not to scam our customers.

Cool. That's quite the opposite to deliberately taking things out of the game just to make people buy them for a lot of money on day 1 as DLC. And sometimes those are things you don't even need.

So a big 👍 to you, WMD and SMS. :)

There are some very big and worthwhile expansion packs coming up, I'm hoping they will be relatively inexpensive to make people buy them. I do believe that the first couple of packs are already funded, so there is little profit needed on the packs. However, when the time comes, we will let you know ideas about costs.

Do you know anything about the Indycar one? Considering it was announced pre release, I would assume it would be free.

No definite plans on it yet, or even if it includes street circuits (pretty please...). As per usual, anything we hear can and will be passed on when (and if) we can.

Just had a go at some kart races over the weekend. I've never been a big fan of karts in racing games and my real life experience is only those public karting places, but my god the karts are now fun and hectic in pCARS!

I didn't get along with them well at all previously, and I'm not sure they align super close to real life behaviour (not that I have experience with the more powerful karts irl), but they're very controllable, sharp and the sense of speed is fantastic. Racing with AI is also a blast.

I'll be starting the career in the karts :)

Funny, i couldn't care less about karts. Never even bothered to try one in RL or PCars. So glad that I'm not forced to do kart racing in PCars

They definitely aren't everyone's cup of tea. But that's why PCars career is so great. Do what you want, when you want. Fantastic!

I've put my question into spoiler tags, as some folks don't want to have anything spoiled when it comes to career :)

I stumbled on this video yesterday and it kind of confirmed my fears of the career adhering too strictly to the succession of the different tiers, which makes it more linear than I expected and not really realistic. Real drivers don't necessarily go through all different tiers. For instance in the below video, the player won the Kart Series and now has the option of running another season in Karts, or choose between two offers in Super Karts. I don't think that Super Karts are a true to life step up into the higher classes. Maybe only for a small minority.
What I was hoping for is a more open career, where the offers you'll get are depending on how well you did. Suppose that you completely aced Karting, you'd expect offers from Formula Rookie or even Formula Gulf or Formula C. Or maybe an offer from the lowest Prototype series. That would make the career look less predicatable , more realistic , more interesting and more fun.

Now it looks like you can only progress into the very next tier, or change to other series in the same tier. In that sense it wouldn't be much different from some other games we've seen in the past (except then for the option of choosing your starting point).

Or am I completely wrong, and does the below video not do justice to the depth of the career mode at all? :)

I haven't watched the video yet (but am looking forward to doing so!) but I think something very important to remember is that when you're starting out in the real world, you're racing out of your own pocket (barring some rare and incredible exceptions), so receiving a free boost up the ladder on the back of a premier team is definitely not something you can take for granted. But that's where games like this come in - allowing you to enjoy a career of dreams! I can't wait :D

Also about the career. I think, but don't be disappointed if I'm wrong, is that sometimes you still may get a jump up a few tiers based on your career progress. I think one example is that once you complete X number of races you will get that gt3 invite, even if you are in a way lower tier. Again, I haven't personally tried this but I think someone posted about it on the forums (related to a bug that was incorrectly tracking the number of races complete, which is now fixed)

If you play with a steering wheel does the steering feel heavy like on a real one? Neck, arm and hand muscle pain is a requirement!

If the first 4 characters in your wheel description are T500, yes.:sly:
