Cars with unusual traits

Even though the 1971 Mustang Mach 1 was only sold in America, the odometer goes up by kilometers. The speedometer is in mph though.

The Nissan Skyline GT-R V-spec Nür '02 has a working oil pressure gauge. It hardly ever moves when you're in the powerband, but if you do like I did and miss a shift so your rpm drops, the oil pressure will drop too (as it should). :dopey:

Sorry if that was mentioned before. :)

Not sure if this one was mentioned, but when you hit the brakes in the ferrari california, the reverse lights come on instead of brake lights
I have seen a couple of cars do this but can't remember what they were.

Another interesting little fact (although perhaps not really unusual) is that the Esprit shares its doormirrors with the McLaren F1 (the eighties facelift of the Esprit and the styling of the F1 were both performed by Peter Stevens)
So PD only had to model these doormirrors once, and guess where these mirrors came from?
Another exotic? Custom made and designed by Stevens? Nope, they came from the facelifted eighties Citroën CX which Stevens clearly appreciated (at least those mirrors).

This is not the whole truth. If you google pics of the McLaren F1 you can see that only a few of them had the CX mirrors. Most were fitted with a more square type of mirror. If you check the F1 in GT5, you can see that it has this model and not the CX mirrors.

So where do these mirrors come from then? Well, they are from the Volkswagen Corrado (cool car, a shame it isn't in GT). In GT5, these can also be found on the TVR Tuscan Speed 6, Cerbera Speed 6, Tamora and T350C.

The RUF CTR Yellowbird only has a rear view mirror on the driver's side, however it uses the same interior model as the BTR which has mirrors on both sides. This means that when you get into the Yellowbird's cockpit and look to the sides you can see mirrors on both sides.

I knew I recognized those mirrors. Thanks for clearing it up.

A couple of things I just noticed in the past few days.

1) Mazda 787B- has an instant mpg gauge(I think) to the left of tach, last lap time, and some number on the digital cluster that is 6.0 until about 8500 revs and the changes to 7.0 until redline. Anyone know what it is for.
2) The Scirocco R has a working auto-dimming rearview mirror. Usually, I see just lights behind me, but not in the Scirocco.
3) The V12 Vantage has 4 hood latches for its carbon hood, just like the N24 race cars.

Edit: Just remembered the R35 GTR TC. It has the looks and power of the FIA GT1 car, but they left the V6 and 4WD in it, instead of the 4.5 V8 and RWD that it should have.

It's unusual if you leave the spoilers stock. The Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 (Premium) can have a downforce up to "8" with the stock wing too.

The RuF CTR "Yellowbird" is one of only a few cars in the game having a real license plate, it uses the license plate of a real RuF press car: MN-P 911
Reality
Gran Turismo
Are there any else known cars having that? The Subaru Impreza WRC Rally Car '08 has a British license plate I think.

There are plenty of cars which have a special gearbox, I'll start a list trying to find them all in a new thread (link).

The number plates on the rally cars were normally *555WRC or a varient of. I think 555 was a brand of ciggies in the late 90's

The GT-R Concept LM car is Left-Hand drive if i remember correctly. Thought that was very odd.

It prompted me to see if some variations of cars have different cockpits. My Scion xb is LHD, so i'd love to know if the Toyota bB is RHD.

Impreza super touring car dose not light up brake lights when you hit brakes

This is really irritating. It happens only on daytime tracks though, I've noticed that when the lights are on the brakes work. Shame it hasn't been fixed.

One I've known about for a while.

You know how the transformation to race car often involves the installation of an all-in-one digital gauge? The Toyota Prius TC is the exact opposite: its electronic displays have been replaced by generic Auto Meter analog gauges, typically found on hot rods. It also carries minor Texaco sponsorship.

I think the developers might have a sense of humor...

The premium Jaguar XJR9 has a light right next to the odometer on the top right that turns on whenever your on the throttle.

But, I have to add: upside down Ads? Or is the Easter Bunny visiting.. . .

The Suzuki GSX-R/4 Concept '01, because it has the same sound as a tuned Fiat 500 '68 when in the Fiat's rev range :)

As does the Subaru Impreza '05 Rally Car. It's very disappointing.

Don't know if this has been mentioned but the Audi R8 LMP car and the Pescarolo C60 Hybride both have purple tail lights I'll post in pick in bout 13hours when I finish the lemans 24hr

It happens with the Mitsubish Evo VII Super Rally Car too at night. When you step on the brakes, it looks like the park lights and then you get rammed from behind because people didn't know you was braking. What was PD thinking?!

Now that is something I would like to see.

Good discovery but I don't see the point of having upside down advertisement / sponsorship because it will never get seen while playing.

I know this isn't GT5 related, But when you use the 2022 Nike One and set the roof or bumper cam, you can hear the heartbeat of the driver. The faster you go, the heartbeat also goes faster.

Another little oddity, if you ram the back of the Ford RS200 Rally Car enough the number plate disappears and is replaced by two Ford logos, the one on the left is the right way round and the one on the right is mirrored. (AI same make race, tried pushing the lead AI down the main straights of Route X and found this out)

Well, it was, by several players, I would assume . . . which is why we’re checking it out. And, yes, that’s the whole ’unusual car’ point - an upside-down Ad? Has anybody actually gone to that website? Why would PD put it there, and on that car?
It is extremely difficult to get a shot from the rear

I had to actually flip the car to get a proper look. And show the rest of the world. Hope the sponsors got there money’s worth! :)

The Spoon S2000 has a light on the roof, apologies if this has been mentioned but I only read as far as page 15. On my iPhone, so really only page 7 and a half.

Also no one had mentioned the Pace Car by that point, nor the fact that the Tank Car leaves skidmarks far in front of it in bumper view, the ridiculous aero parts you can put on the Suzuki Cervo nor the fact that the old VW bus and military vehicles have Rayman wheels, i.e. They're not attached to anything.

I've seen the Tank Car mentioned; it's because "bumper" view is nowhere near the bumper, it's usually inline with the driver's seat, which is a long way back from the front wheels on that particular car.
The VWs you mentioned all have portal axles, so yes, Rayman indeed. :)
