Acid, you're doing pretty damn well for 3 weeks  :) . If only I could of played like that after 3 weeks.

Personally (my 2 cents) I found that teaching yourself is a better way if you want to learn an instrument then getting taught. You get to do things in your own time and your own way, and you develop your own style.

Nywayz good luck with it and carry on!

Edit: I've got tones more riffs I've come up with. I'll try and get them on to the computer soon. on minidisc at the mo.

Hey what's the status on the project? Pako, do you think you could email me the account info again? I'm thinking I might hook up again, if I have nothing else to do this summer.

Well...the status is well....it was really hard to get a consistant anything to make it happen. With life happening and all, my attention to this project has taken a back seat for now...

Fair enough, the family's yelling at me for not having a job, so I guess I should spend some more time trying to find one. Even if it means working at McDonalds....

I've been waiting for a mp3 to listen to. I want to add to the mix, but not overpower it.

Pako, are you waiting for somone to take the lead harmony and melody?

Is the project dead?

It all sounded really interesting, but there weren't links to any mp3s and those that were provided are dead.

is there a Key to this song, it could help out alot in writing for most.

There was some interest with some incompatibility issues with formats. A key or basic song structure would be helpful to say the least. I've lost personal interest in this project due to lack of time as of late. Any ideas are welcome. ;)

um... i can do guitar... but i don't think your in short supply of the 6 string.

a key for the song would really really help, as the part can fit together rather nicely.

maybe F major/D minor?

I could lay down a groove with the bass, but traditionally speaking, it's easier for the more melody centric instruments to come up with a melody with bass/drums ect... to follow. I guess what made it tough before was the incontinuity between the different licks being submitted......it was tough to piece a common theme from all the different parts.

I'm a blues guy, so any minors I'm most a home with, but major's fine as well. How about G-Minor with a standard 1-4-5 chord progression and a turn-around. I'll see if I can find a groove thing that people can build on.....

Cool groove! Sounds very "robotic." I don't care too much for the intro, though. It sounds too busy. I see what you were going for, though. But. to my hears, it doesn't sound right with the groove that happens latter at the 17 second mark. I would go with that first, then move latter into the faster funk fest. Meh, it's just my way of doing it. I love that grove, BTW. That's why I think it should lead the song. Say, start on the low E at the 15th fret and slide down to open up the groove?

How about a major key change a little latter after that? I didn't really hear one, but that one pop and slap part had one, sort of. If you start with the song from there, you can add some really cool sounding key changes. But, maybe that'll make for too much work for you. lol I can work with this, but I have no computer programm to mix with.

Plus, what would I need to record stuff to my computer that I could then send to you? In other words, what would I need to be compatible with you? I have a mic and a mic input on my PC, which is XP w/ service pack 2. I would need to buy a small mic adapter for one my SM57s but that ain't no biggie. Is there a cheap programm I could buy that'll do the job for not too much money? I'll look around on the net a bit myself to see if I can find one.

wow. After hearing that bass line it makes me really want to pick up my bass.

That's so much better then me, but I play more punk ska stuff with a pick.

Slap bass isn't really my style, but it does sound good.

Solid Lifter's - Here's a free program:
http://www.goldwave.com/release.php

I've never done it with a standard sound card, but I would think you could take your SM57 and get a XLR->1/8" adapter and go to your mic input on your soundcard. Wave or High bitrate mp3 are the perfered formats. I like the idea's for the goove.....see what you can come up with to into. It's only like 2 minutes long, so there's plenty of time left to add an intro and key change as well. I would be curious what you can muster up. Might also check into Cool Edit Pro. I think you can download a working trial copy where you could dub the original track into a session and play along with it.

Event Horizon - thanks.... ;)

Mr. McShake - Spank that plank! 👍

Totally compatible. The Raw wave files it creates or the final mixed wave file are both compatible.
Cool, I'll buy that, then.

I downloaded Goldwave, and I already have problem with drivers. I get this warning, too.

Not quite sure you would get 'that' error as it has to do with your graphics card...., really not sure.

Mr. McShake
How did you get so good at bass Pako?

The best song I can play is "Give it Back" by Lagwagon, and that is still hard for me.

I really envy you.

I don't think I'm that good, but I do attribute my current level of playing to a couple of things; God - who gives me my talent and inspiration, my love for music, Time - I've been playing bass since '86, and lots of great people that support my playing.

I'm not too familiar with that song, but I'll see if I can find it and check it out... 👍

And this is why I don't like computers. Bleh. I have no idea what the problem is either. Something isn't compatible, I have no idea why. Going through the trouble shooter was no help. Do I still need this to send you stuff, of is the Cakewalk program all I need?

If your getting that Cakewalk program, you don't need that Goldwave at all.... :)

Wow. Since '86. I've only been playing since '02, but this last year I haven't played too much bass. I have been playing a lot more drums, but after hearing that riff you were playing it really makes me want to keep up with the bass more.

Thanks.
