Will not take part this weekend and surely next one too. Had an accident last wednesday at work. I planted a broken glass of wine, maybe 2 or 3 cm, under my right foot (and I was wearing shoes!). Walking with sticks (right word?) at the moment. And as it's my right foot who is injured, I can't use my G25 and there is no chance I'll go back to DS3. Hope to be back soon!

Ouch!!

Sorry to hear that kemp, hope you get well and are with us again soon 👍

Just a quick note to everyone: I'm going to try and send you all a PM with nexts weeks combo criteria tomorrow! I asbsolutely need anyone who wants to race it to respond to my PM ASAP!. It is very important that I know who is racing so that I may put my new idea into play. Please, I cannot work this idea without your help!

Thank you.

I cannot be absolutely sure about next week Shin, but my intention is to join you. And this Sunday too.

Incase any of you are browsing this thread but arent signed in, I just sent this message to all registered members.

Please respond ASAP!

You have been sent this message because you are registered as a Concours Club member.

If you do not wish to race next weekend, on Sunday 26th 8pm (BST) specifically, please ignore this message :)

Now Gentlemen. Let me explain why I need you to respond to this message. Next weekend will hopefully see another Concours first, and an idea I've been wanting to put into practice for some time. Basically, although you've never seen it, I have been keeping a table of race results from the very beginning. Anyone who has ever raced and received points at Concours is on it. Next week, I would like to utilise this table and have our very first TEAM RACE!

What I will do, is take into consideration how many races each member has participated in, what their overall points came to, and work out an average race meet point score respectively. Members with the highest points tally will become 'team leaders', who will then be placed with team members with lower point scores to balance teams, in every team.

It is paramount that I know who wants to race in this combo. Each individual member needs an average point count, and I need to balance teams depending on who is particiapting. I also need to know as soon as possible so I can assign you a car, in order that you may practice!

I cant stress enough how important it is that you repsond. The alternative is that you will either miss out, or have to buy and run in four 950,000cr cars so that you can be ready.

Either respond to this PM, or place a post in the Concours Thread so I know who it is that wants to race.

Now, speaking of 950,000cr cars, let me introduce to you Concours 2nd!!,. first in this combo, and the car you will be driving 👍

Yes we've had NASCAR, and we've also had race modded cars, but these cars have been designed from the ground up to go circuit racing! And if I'm honest with you, I cannot wait! : ADDITIONAL INFORMATION :

This week I have sought consult from a Super GT expert. The settings suggested are based off of a Super GT thread in these forums, however when I begin testing these settings may differ depending on wether they need to or not. I will make a post in the thread if settings are to be changed so you dont miss them. I will also inform everyone on the night in the lobby.

Thanks for reading, and DONT FORGET TO REPLY!! :P

I'll be there next Sunday. Super GT usually makes for some good racing.

I wonder which two teammates will be the first to have contact? :)

Guys I just updated the OP to include lap amounts for each circuit tonight.

I wont be using reverse grids, as having 670bhp Corvettes trying to battle through traffic is probably a recipe for disaster!

Instead each session will last roughly 20minutes. Qualy for race one 20mins, Race one 20mins. Qualy for Race two 20mins, Race two 20mins. Qualy for Race three 20mins, Race three 20mins.

Use each qualifying session wisely. I know some guys like a coffee or a smoke between races, so I suggest you put in a fast lap then do what you have to. Session lengths will be as prompt as possible! I will start without you if you arent ready!

Be in the lobby on time tonight guys. Otherwise practice Trial mountain till then like your life depended on it! :D

Catch you guys later 👍

I'm very interested in participating tonight, have read all the rules and I understand all the questions asked. However I didn't spot how I am actually supposed to register, although it says post and thus I have done and I have highlighted my name in red until approved 👍. Not looking to win any prizes just want some good racing, I'm also assuming we're trusted not to apply any handling modifications and plan not to do so unless I've missed something on that.

If I've done something wrong, just point me in the right direction 👍.

Hi Dragon ;)

Nothing immediatly wrong there, just read the opening posts thorougly and you'll find what you need.

Ie, how to apply is in post one, and how to set up your car is in post two.

You'll also see that this club is largely for unmodified cars. We run mostly stock, meaning no parts required. Just good old fashioned driver skill :D That said a couple of parts are needed for the M3 tonight. But unless otherwise stated, nothing should be added!

I'll hang around in the thread to check your re-registration 👍

Registration:
1. Do you agree to abide by the rules and regulations outlined in the OLR? Yes
2. Have you read all 3 opening posts fully? Yes
3. Is there anything you dont understand? Yes
4. Are you willing to perform a few test laps to prove your respectful racing credentials? Yes (Anytime in the next couple of hours pre-race I can do).
PSN: Dragonistic

I guess that's everything right? Anyway, I was just checking as regards handling that we aren't assumed to just do whatever (having missed previous weeks you never really know if just power and weight are regulated or everything). Just running in my M3 ready, as in my registration I'm free in about half an hour to run some laps as neccessary. If it's easier however I am sure I can get someone to vouch for the cleanliness of my driving even if it's not the fastest .

Welcome 👍

And dont worry about the practice laps ahead of time, A) I know you from the tuning forums and know you've been around GTP for a very long time! So you should have a grasp of the OLR by now! ;) And B) we have a long enough qualifying session tonight to see wether you're going to be trouble or not

Just one additional note, and thats to make sure you read the Additional Information underneath the car setups. It explains track etiquette for tonights race meet. Slightly different to how we runs things usually, you've stumbled upon us in the midst of a kind of test race!

Just be clear you know the ins and outs before you race and you're good to go mate. Mandatory pit stop etc etc...

Any more questions just ask me or anyone else in here they're all up to speed. Otherwise I'll see you on track tonight! :)

Have fun dude 👍

Oh yeah one more thing.. just so its crystal. Any kind of part for any car in Concours is prohibited, unless stated in the Current Criteria for that particular race meet. Even if parts are added, further setup options are prohibited also! The only thing that is a given each week is an oil change after maximum miles for run in. Ie 180miles or so, oil change, and thats your lot. (brake balance is tunable however, as is ABS and TC if you wish). If I want you all to do anything other than just buy and run in, I will clearly tell you :) As I said, its all about the driver at Concours 👍

Gonna pull out of this weeks racing, too tired & just not in the mood, sorry. I might pop in, spectate, & save the replays if that's ok?

If there's room you're always welcome mate. You're a Concours member, so come and go at your leisure.

Catch you tonight. I bet you join in at some point though ;) lol

I'm familiar enough with multi-class racing etiquette thanks Roh so I should be fine, I know it's the overtaking drivers reponsibility if there's a battle going on that they need to clear or otherwise I should just stay out the way (nothing to gain from holding up a quicker car anyway). Look forward to tonight and I'll send a PSN invite if that's ok Roh to make joining a little easier.

I've also denoted my 'learner' status if you will by slapping gold chrome on my wheels as I've still not competed in to many full blooded races on GT5 in the past few months .

Bringing out the bling in race one!.. O K. :D

As for the friend request, I'm not on the PS3 right now, and its my other account you will need. I'll send you one as soon as I'm on the Playstation mate. I wont be on GT till that point anyways 👍

Unbelievably, I just spent 40 minutes driving around running my car in, and then the game glitches and won't let me quit without using the XMB! Looks like I'll be about 10bhp down  never mind though, these things happen.

Hey Captain,

Quick question, you said that uve been keeping record of everyone and their positions/points, well could we have a look? maybe set up a online google spreadsheet? and set it up in the OP

EDIT:

Might be alittle bit late as im hving to pick up my miss, should be back for race might miss bit of quali

Really enjoyed tonights races, though I said it in the chat in game I feel it needs saying again so everyone can see 👍. The kind of racing I've been desperately missing for a long time, close, fast and clean.

Gutting to see Crispy go out on the last race, there was the makings of a really good fight for the win that I suspect I would have lost if I allowed him to get into the slipstream. I feel I had redeemed myself after a fairly dismal Indy performance, where I made 2 major mistakes and ended up off track, hopefully didn't cost me a podium overall! I think crispy is definately safe with the top spot though 👍 (Edit: Actually I just realised it was a DNF which may be counted differently, damn you Roh and your secretive ways!).

Thoroughly recommended.

Unfortunately I was the cause of Crispy's demise in that race, I spun, he came around the corner and had nowhere to go apart from at me :ill: Apologies once more mate. :dunce:

Interesting contrast between the two cars, each with their strengths and weaknesses when pitted against each other, but as always it was great to race with you guys.

I saw the whole thing don't worry, can't really pin the blame it is just another racing incident that happened to collect a front runner in the M3 class.

I really enjoyed the M3, to the point I'm inspired to potentially create a spec series for them if there isn't already. They made for good race cars, easy to control without being dull and quick enough to get the adrenaline going as well. Another 👍 to the concours for making me realise that.

What a blast that was!!! I'd say a very successful first outing for the multi class format! On the whole. If I was being picky, both Douqa and Dragonistic had incidents that contradicted the rules I lay out in the Additional Information section:
If you are GT2 with track position and clear air, and GT1 is approaching you from behind, get out of the way as though you were being lapped. If you are GT2 with track position and battling with another division member, and GT1 is approaching from behind, continue to race. It is up to GT1 to overtake you in this instance

However, neither will recieve a warning this week. Like I said in the lobby last night, the format was new to all of us and mistakes were inevitable. I'm just glad the company we keep these days saw that no incidents of that nature lead to race endings 👍

The same cant be said for myself though :embarrassed: I'll start at the beginning:

Race one was shaping up to be a great race. Douqa had pole and I qualified second by just .06 of a second. I knew this wasnt going to be my night when I got to the grid and was starting in last place!! Douqa made the first corner from fourth into first, had clear air and pulled out a chunky lead. By the time I was through all the traffic I was 8 seconds behind. I pushed for a lap or two and made a small amount of ground. Decided to just race safe from then and bring home the bacon ;)

Race two was looking better. I qualified pole and got a great start. Douqa who started on second got out of shape and left the circuit in T1 just behind me. From there on in to my pitstop I was having a comfortable race. John was keeping me honest, but I managed to pull around a 4 second gap to the pit stop. A few laps later, still going strong, an ALMIGHTY bang came from outside!! I crapped my pants. No idea what it was but I missed my braking point to turn one. I left the circuit and John was right on my chuff! A lap later and he'd been close enough to draft me down the start finish. I lost a place. Desperate to get it back I stuck to his bumper like chewing gum. Coming into the long left after T1 John went super wide, I know now it was his line, cutting back in from the edge of the track. For a split second I thought he'd made a mistake, I braked a half metre late to make the move, and then a bright blue ZR1 shaped wall appeared right infront of me!! Had no where to go and only one thing to hit. Sorry John! We both took damage, but crucially Johns was on the rear. I drove around half the lap on half throttle letting John stay ahead. He graciously pulled over slightly to let me carry on racing. By this point however my turning and braking were compromised. Douqa, Rotor, and very nearly Cpt D as well got through. God damn the bang! Still dont know what it was!

Race three I had to make a come back. I qualified pole again, but got a bad start. In a few seconds I had Douqa pass me and another 3 ZR1's breathing down my neck! John made a move up the inside and I had to hang it out around the outside and try to out brake him into turn 3. I managed it, but Douqa had sprinted away again with no one to contend with. Race 3 from the start was much closer, and looking in my rear view I wasnt able to bridge the gap to P1. I made a few mistakes as well, bringing John up close and trading positions a few times. I was confident I could take second place however. I wasnt out of the fight just yet either. When the results were in I worked out that after my stop, I would've been 4 seconds behind Douqa. Close enough to have the will to win, and possibly put pressure on Douqa. That said it was never going to happen. I came in to pit and on my way out my pit crew held me in the box!! 9 seconds they held me! I know this because thats how far behind crispy was at the last split. He came out of the pits literally right behind me! Stupid game!

So there we have it. Didnt go as well as I'd like, but managed to secure 2nd on the podium anyway. Albeit at the demise of John in race 2 :embarrassed: Sorry once again mate.

The GT2 class was much much closer! Infact only one point seperated all three podium spots!! Crispy took the win by the skin of his teeth, and Dragonistic went toe to toe with paginas for second. Finishing on equal points, Dragonistic took an extra step for his race win. Great battle gents, well done 👍

I really really enjoyed last night. I wanted the cars to be close-ish, but I think in the end the cars were a little too close(?). Maybe if they were on the same tyres it would of been better, but the M3's definately had a slight edge in cornering. They were never going to take a win obviously, but next time I think I'd like to see equal cornering, or give GT1 the edge over GT2.

The trouble lies in making a balance between having a faster GT1, but also having a GT2 people still want to race. I think GT1 should be hard to drive, while GT2 remains close. Lots to think about anyway. And suggestions as always are welcome. Trust I'll make the next multi class meet even better though ;)

Now, on to next week. And RAAAAAACE CAAAAAAARRRS!!!!!! :D :D :D

Opening posts updated 👍

Well. Had a great race yesterday at Indy Road.
Started good and was fighting first until the "Vette incident" :sly: where I lost some ground to Crispy. Made the undercut on him :) when I pitted 1 lap earlyer, and managed to overtake him on entry to turn 1 while he was exiting pit.
Had an amazing battle with him, and even with him being faster I managed to keep P1 for several laps, with some defensive driving, and when he passed me I managed to overtake him on the outside turn 1.
He overtook me again and then it came Paginas, stealing my P2 in the last lap. I HATE YOU PAGINAS. :)
Lol.
That was an epic race. Nothing to add on the other 2.
I'm surprised I managed to complete all races in the state I was. :)

I do apologise for my incident in the final race, though in my defence the problem was that there was never a chance to let you guys by without jeopardising my position for class lead. Given that those ZR1s were looking at lower class standings and the speed differential it was nigh on impossible bar the main straight for a ZR1 to pass me clearly without me having to throw away my position (by allowing other M3 into my slipstream zone). Though I was still wrong and when I did try to let cars pass I totally screwed it up and misjudging the ZR1s lack of braking and cornering performance, I was braking far earlier then I needed to in order to turn in ok, and the ZR1 had managed to go from slightly ahead to slightly behind .

In future I think the cars need to have similar cornering speed as well as different straight line speed, as the ZR1s were often holding the M3s up in the corners to the point they should have almost been letting us by . Ultimately that was my problem, I knew if I let a ZR1 pass by getting out the gas I would then be slowed down for the following corners quite alot, I'm thinking same compound tyres in future will resolve this, meaning that a faster class car won't be held up in turns by slower ones and slower ones won't be held up either when letting a faster car go.

There's also a slight bit of unclearness as regarding 'in a battle' though again I don't feel I was right in my case, it is difficult to measure that a perhaps a more clear cut method such as within X of other class driver.

Ultimately both incidents were really only warning worthy anyway, as the receiving end of Douqas Indy incident, I only ended up in the grass as the little punt sent me slightly quicker then I anticipated (no more then slipstream though) it was just a case of impatience which put me under a bit of pressure and I borked it , I wouldn't have given any penalties for it 👍.

I know incidents aren't supposed to be discussed here, but in this case with the new format there are lessons to be learnt and so I feel discussion here is worthwhile, to turn awesome racing into multi-class perfection 👍.
