I think you lose more DR for quitting than being last.

On TC, tc1 does more than help with launch, I often qualy on tc1 as it is a few tenths faster than tc2 I use in races. Tc0 I can't do at all so tc1 is more than just launch.

I used to use it when I started then I drove the Supra a bit and the TC was so annoying in that car I had to turn it off and I’ve had it off ever since.

I never quit at the start. I only quit these races right at the end where it was too late to do anything.
As Sven reminded us, quitting a race causes a harder DR drop than just finishing last. I've lost a few hundred points from finishing 10th versus losing upwards of 1000 DR per race.

True but I don't really care about DR. SR is more important to me. Had plenty of clean races in all DR ratings tbh.

Ran a Race A, just now. I started 3rd (originally 4th, but someone dropped before the start), and finished 5th. At turn 1, I made a somewhat easy pass when the car in 2nd ran a bit wide and I went down the inside. The car behind me also went by. At turn 5, on the 1st lap, I got punted and spun.....by the car in 3rd. 🤨 I wound up down in 10th (out of 11). I worked my way back up to 8th on lap 2 thanks to someone running wide at turn 1 and someone else spinning later on that same lap. On lap 3, I moved up to 7th thanks to another driver running wide. On lap 5, I made a double pass at turn 10. I stayed there for the rest of the race. Thankfully, my DR went up instead of down. It didn't go up much, but it did go up.

I don’t think you should lose SR for quitting unless you were already in negative SR accrued in race. Especially with the network disconnects that routinely happen.

I think all of that doesn’t matter at this stage, since the transfer on the 15th. Whatever your ranking at that time and maybe a couple days after that, is what we‘ll have on March 4th.

Has that been confirmed. Seems like there is some ambiguity from the way I interpreted the press release, they said there would be updates at regular intervals. I just hit my highest DR and on the 15th my SR was low too

These transfers will take place automatically starting on Tuesday, 15 February and will continue afterwards with the data being updated at regular intervals. The start time of those transfers will vary, therefore there might be some delays before the data appear on GT7.

Please see below for some important details.

■ Ratings

・The status of the Driver Rating (DR) and Sportsmanship Rating (SR) that will be carried over will be their status as of February 15 (Tues). In some cases there may be some delay to the start date of these transfers.
・These transferred ratings will be applied at the release of Gran Turismo 7.
・These transferred ratings will be applied on the Test Season, an Online Championship planned to be held after the release of Gran Turismo 7.

Rating is locked as of the 15th. The transfers are what may take time.

On Racing i'm using TC most of the Time at for MR and FR Cars.

The way I see it, races are rarely about hundredths or tenths of a second, which usually balances out well, but in the race it happens to me and many drivers quite often that they "in the fight" step on the gas too early/hard and thus stand cross or even turn completely. And THAT costs significantly more time over 5 or 10 laps. What's more, if you're driving close together and your car swerves, the one behind you smashes it in immediately.

In qualifying I drive without TC, which is also logical, because every little bit counts to get a good time.

So far this week in Race C I've only seen 2-3 drivers who even remotely got a good qualifying time in the race. So far in the race, the good times I've made on medium tires in qualifying have been enough for me to keep my place or even climb up.

Quitting a race actually impacts your DR rating exactly the same as finishing the whole race in last place.
The game doesn't have any DR penalties.
However, you will lose an extra 5 SR points for quitting.
Getting disconnected after the pre-race chat starts counts as a quit.

Race A.. Don't you just hate congratulating someone for a win (I was 2nd) then find out they're a fast but dirty ramming tosser in the next race 😠🤬

Stuck with the same guy in several races - always gets a poor start then just shoves past everyone else. I ended up running him off - and still got a CRB. Several others got fed up with his antics and did the same - then he disappeared.

Been mostly very clean on Race A, and Race C has been great. After a whole heap of 2nd and 3rd places, I tried qualifying again and finally got a 1:39.8, which put me on pole. Started on softs and did 7 laps before pitting - rejoined with a 5 second lead and just maintained the gap. Win 199 - hopefully make 200 later today, which would be a nice number to finish on before GT7.

Are the top 10 lap runners using the wheel, if we are on the same BoP level, then everyone should have the same speed level. I graduated from college 6 years ago so I currently stay at home taking care of me and my family. So I have loads of free time per week. I don't understnad it. You can probably go to my profile (rising_glass1) and see how many races i've done, 22 and only 1 win. That's not good! I may have to slide on these, the Mazda race I finished 5th one time. The Red bull one is hard, can't get past 6th. The 10-lap one is easy cause you have a fair advantage to pass players while they're in the pit stop, so I finished 6th out of 18. I am getting ill and frustrated. It should be fun and entertaining.

Sometimes my wi-fi will go in and out and then it will say that the race is terminated, I hate that cause when you're in a good placement during that then you're screwed cause you have to start over from scratch. You can tell by the signal strength next to the username.

What's to understand?

People are faster than you are, because they're better at the game than you are. There's a reason why we call the fastest drivers in the game "aliens".

Of course there's nothing to stop people who aren't as fast from putting in the hours of practice each day to get faster - and closer - to the fastest, but that's what it requires to be that good.

Wire your console into the router. Wireless is... okay, but it's always going to be worse than a wired connection and any number of things can cause it to drop connection.

You are matched with players at your own level so in theory you should finish at the same position you started in. A win percent of 5 is what you have. That's exceptionally good actually.

I recommend watching Tidgney's driving school on YouTube

Yeah, that's true or basically in a nutshell I need to watch YT videos and spend at least 6-7 hours a day practicing each track with different Gr3 and Gr4 cars and see which one gives me the best results. Are any of you on the Gran Turismo Discord? It's a public chat room with 500-600 members, you guys should stop by for a visit or some of you may be familiar with it. Well maybe once I get older i'll get the hang of it, Super GT is a good person too posting weekly videos.

Doing better than me 😊 I had several hundred before I won one. Now they only come on tracks which suit me. I use motion control with the triggers for brakes and throttle, and I struggle to get the braking right at some circuits

Honestly though I don't think the wheel will really make that much of a difference, I may as well keep using the controller, and try to find the right lines and apexs to clip. Smooth cornering can be the key too, and exit speeds.

Good races last night. One podium finish, the rest I was near the podium and moved up at least a couple of places each race. Didn't spin out once. Some dirty drivers last night but not too bad. One guy was just bashing everyone out the way in Race C. I managed to catch back up to him and stick with him but he and I were about evenly matched on pace and I didn't want to get punted off so stayed behind him. Interesting though, that he would constantly hit the barrier and it never seemed to really lose him much time (might have been lag I guess).

Didn't know you lost SR with a quit, but 5 isn't much.

Pretty crazy end to race C, fellow Brit in first tried to ram me into the pits lol B/S race. 11th win for me!

Edit: if someone knows a better way to upload clips? Like how do I get the PlayStation logo at the start etc?

A couple of good results saw me hit the 40k DR and moved me up a room. I went from starting top 3 with a 1.39.26 to starting 10th and well out my depth. Finished 17th with car number 19. No room for mistakes at that level and I was making too many. Bloody filthy bunch too. No room given and dive bombs on all the sharp lefts. I gave it back to one person which I haven’t been doing but lost my cool and got a bit flustered lol. Sad really, I need to get over it; it’s just a game!

Looking to do one or two more Daily Cs in the Mustang this evening while the Sardegna A combo is still live.

Broke into the high-1:38s in qualifying with the McLaren F1 (1:38.849); now I'll have to see whether that guarantees a higher grid spot and more chances for the Ford to finish well.

Don't take the game too seriously. It is just a game. I've had to stop playing & walk away at times because I was taking it a little too seriously. It took me 9 months of playing to score my first daily race victory. It feels good & fun then. But if wins are the only reason you're playing, you need to take a break.

It likely wouldn't make a difference. I didn't want to set up my wheel last night, but spent over an hour on the controller setting a QT on both of my accounts. Got them both at a 1:40.9xx for race C. Set up my wheel this morning & trimmed one of them to 1:40.7xx.
