Why is that? Infineon Raceway will very likely be in GT5, so why not make use of the drag strip? I mean, with the level of detail given to the tracks, they'll have to model it anyway... And how hard can it be making the tree to function properly? The final sentence is just stupid btw.

I don't know, perhaps I'm the only one who can find traces of drag racing in these screens?
Gran Turismo 2...
Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec...
and Gran Turismo 4...
The 0-400 test has been in every GT so far.💡
I found one, on an ign forum about gt4 drag times or something like that.
LOL @ That Forza video, that was pretty poor. Pro Street is by far the best Drag racing i've ever seen in a video game. The most realistic. GT4 was lame, and Forza 3's drag racing (judging by that video) is just a try hard version of Need For Speed Pro Street.
I have strong feelings GT5 will feature a drag racing thing and it will be fantastic.
Why is it not a single journalist has asked Kazunori whether or not drag racing will be included? I mean, now when he is in Vegas, there has to be someone there who likes drag racing at least a little bit.
I must be missing something here."We can, and um, it was in previous versions of GT, so its a possibility."

Having a fantasy drag strip on the streets of Las Vegas on which you can't race nobody is not drag racing to me. Nor is having two drag cars but no drag strip.
And that's a damn shame...I guess that shows how much his interest in drag racing is. Honestly I'm not surprised though, the series is about the touring on tracks around the world, his focus must just be different.

I think KY needs to read this, and see where we are coming from, because if he does add drag i think it might be a little off like missing some important stuff.
Ok, saying it could be done in a few days was stupid perhaps. I think it shouldn't be that hard, however, for a top notch developer like PD to implement it. Programming the tree sholdn't be much harder than programming start/finish lines, and AI is not needed since they could just let us race online. There's far more to adding a new mode to a game than taking one part of the game and putting it in to it. The tree could be tricky, AI would be trickier, etc. There's a lot that goes in to games, sure they could add a Drag Racing mode in, but the notion that it'd take a few days is up there with pigs flying.

Seriously, if Infineon Raceway is included again this time around but still no drag strip, I'll go quite mad actually.
Then we'll get a December 2010 Release date.
You expect sooner?
The most difficult thing, in my eyes at least, would be modelling the tires. The tires used by drag racers are nothing even similar to road race tires, and if we have to drag race with road race tires... well, I'd rather PD just put the effort somewhere else.
I've realised we don't need drag tires after all, although it would be nice to have. What's is to just let us race each other down a proper drag strip, with staging and reaction time involved. You expect sooner?

Meh, I could live without, but if it is implemented, then PD should make it mandatory to use Manual Transmission, and put equal cars against each other, to prove who the better man is.
Just to let you know, automatic cars are very, very common in drag racing.Meh, I could live without, but if it is implemented, then PD should make it mandatory to use Manual Transmission, and put equal cars against each other, to prove who the better man is.
People who runs manuals in drag racing doesn't use the clutch (not many of them anyway), so no, that's not what it's about either.thats because you lose 2 or 3 km/h shifting gears with a manual. whereas with an auto box, you don't lose any speed. there's no break in acceleration during gear changes.
