I want to find that interview (that had questions obviously taken from a GT forum) that mentioned drag racing. It was awhile ago but it still mentioned it

Reguardless of what forum it came from,it's going to be hearsay.Until there is official word fron PD or Kaz,don't believe anything. ;)

No there was a set of questions everyone had and among them were some drag racing questions that a gaming website basically pulled from the forum, and asked the questions during an interview with Kaz

Well,if thats the case, then go find it.What are you wating for ?:lol::lol:

It might be an interesting read. 👍

i'm not sure if their going to include it. Cause they haven't mention anything about it yet.
:nervous:

They haven't mentioned a lot of things when it comes to GT5.
But Kaz actually has mentioned it. He was asked if drag will be in and answered that since it has been before it probably will. How it will be implemented, who knows.

Drag Racing is something that doesn't interest me at all. But just because I don't like Drag Racing, it doesn't mean I want it banished from the game. If they were to implement all of the suggested ideas I've skipped through in this thread, it should be a pretty good sim for people with a passion for burning rubber up a Quarter Mile? strip.

For people like me, well, I think I'd use it as a place to mess round in if I fancy a quick break. Actually, the thought of dumping a huge engine in a mk1 Golf and letting rip does sound quite enjoyable. I'm not sure how long that enjoyment would last though.

Anyway, it looks like there's quite a big Drag Racing following on this forum, so I hope PD put it in and make you lot happy. :)

I just think that with the amount of cars that are going to feature in GT5, online drag racing should be hugely diverse and varied as to what people use, and should make for some fun racing :]
Most of the fun of drag racing is building the car I think anyway. I intend to pick something really odd that you would never think of dragging :P Used car bins here I come.

So... we have the '69 Camaro and the '70 Challenger, but will we be able to drag race them?

I saw in an interview that PD have browsed forums a lot and taken ideas from the fans, and it shows. We have reverse lights, better smoke, horn, high/low beams and day/night transition, all of which have been requested and talked a lot about at this very forum. The question remains though, if they have seen this thread. ;)

i think drag racing will be a great idea. i remember i used to play spilt screen with my brothers and cousins on the test track. we would line up at the start and with our cars built to drag we will race to the 400 meter mark. we always had great fun and i think it would be cool to be able to do that online with other people that also like drag racing. i think if they do not have its own game mode then we could still do it by implementing the track day feature. we could pick a good track and drag like that. i was thinking it would be cool to race down the airport strip on the top gear test track =)

This makes me remember of the trailer where the two cars were driving down the airstrip with the lights on the pavement.

I guess this mean the top gear track will transition to night as well?

Hopefully we will get the drag strip from the older GT!

...or the Infineon drag strip, lol. I'm just gonna keep my hopes up, although I know it's not likely they'll let us race on it.

No word on drag racing mode. (sigh)

I guess we will have to use the track editor and make our own drag strips. 💡

Sorry if I keep nagging about the Infineon Raceway, but really, if they're gonna include that track in GT5, how hard can it be to let us drag race on the facility's drag strip and make the tree work!? Just simply make a sportsman tree with a .5 second interval between the yellow beams and then green - go! First across the finish line is the winner, simple as that! Also reaction times and the ability to red light.

What's ironic is that Kaz has mentioned drag racing for GT2, GT3 and then included a horrible version of the mode in GT4 which was nothing more than 1/4 mile test. Please PD and Kazunori, get it right this time around. :nervous:

That is true then in GT2 we got two drag cars.

Yeah, and GT3 teased us with what pretty much looks like my beloved Infineon drag strip. You can clearly see the staging area with the commentator building in the background, and also a christmas tree. Why did they scrap these things?

I'm assuming that one video part we saw with the lights and the cars and what people thought was a plane. And, good old deductive reasoning, though when it comes to GT5, that isn't very reliable either.

I never really noticed or paid attention to that background before.Nice spot, keen eyes 👍.

Here's hoping they take that background and turn it into reality. 💡

Just played a bit in photoshop. I think this shows pretty much what we could do if PD simply just threw in some drag tires. I took the Z28 Camaro from GT5, added drag tires and removed antenna, side view mirrors, whindscreen wipers and rear spoiler. The result is what appears as a NHRA stocker in the F/SA class.

Would this be tons of fun or what!? :D
