Is it time for PD to finally include a drag race mode?

It's time for players to be able to go to Test Track and be able to set up 16 cars fully tuned or stock (whatever we wish), and let them battle for acceleration and top speed.

I cannot wait to make some awesome matchups.
What does that have to do with drag racing?

I don't mean funny car drag racing or any other type of drag cars like that. I mean, the ability to set up drag races with any cars and let them battle it out.
Ok then, just got a bit confused by the "Test Track" and the "16 cars" thingy. Drag races are two cars at a time you see.

I think drag tires and wheels would be just awesome though. No matter what type of car, you can make it ready for drags...

That is the main thing i'd like to see for drag racing mode I think. This would put an end to endless imprezas running against eachother because rwd's just wheelspin forever.

What NHRA should do is two things:

1. Reduce the percentage of nitromethane that goes into the motor. Currently it's at 90%. They ran it at 85% for a few years with decent success, only having it at 90% for Denver due to the altitude. If this was reduced to for example 70%, you would see a huge drop in power figures.

2. Change the size of the motors being used for TF. Currently they run a 500ci motor with a 20% overdrive limit on the supercharger. If they changed this to for example, a 400ci motor with the same supercharger overdrive OR had the same 500ci with a reduced overdrive limit (say 10%), then you will see the power drop aswell.

There are ways of slowing them down, but NHRA doesn't want them to wind up being slower than their Top Alcohol cars which are already running in the 5.1's on the 1/4.

Why should it be slowed down?

I dislike the zr1 purely because of the way people talk about it XD.

But anyway, this would let people put their hot skylines against zr1 :] Should be good

Well, for one, I praise it because it's from my country. And secondly, for its price, (along with the GTR), it posts great numbers.

The Ring:

ZR1: 7'26.4

GTR: 7'26.7

Yeah i'll admit it's impressive but I don't like the GTR either XD.
I'm not a fan of any supercar or new audi/bmw etc. Have no respect for any of them.
I'll take tuned japenese boxes anyday ^_^, dc2 integra <3

Made these a with Zmodeler 1.07. The wheels I tried to replicate are Mickey Thompson ET Drag wheels.

Seen here on Dan Fletcher's stocker...

Now, imagine those wheels and tires with PD's level of detail and quality. Put them on a '69 Camaro or whatever you like and off to Infineon.

Please Kazunori, I'm getting desperate here. :nervous:

I dislike the ZR1 simply because it's a track car. I can't drive it everyday, I tried.

Infineon's drag track is pretty sick. I've seen it a few times (I live like 10 miles from Infineon: I'll post some NASCAR pix soon) but I havent seen the racing there. It's pretty sick and I will bet a decent sum of money (if I had it) that PD will put it in!

Yeah, I really really hope you're right.

I have finally found myself a decent drag racing game! In fact, it can in my opinion be called a simulator!

NHRA Drag Racing 2. It's pretty old, but it feels quite accurate really. You can drive either Top Fuel Dragsters or Top Fuel Funny Cars. You get to start the car, do a burnout, back up and stage, off you go and finally release the chute! The AI is very good I think, and they're usually fast but screw up some times. The cars definitely doesn't want to go straight, neither during the burnout nor during the race. You get disqualified if you red light or hit the barrier (as in real life). You can play the whole NHRA season and each event contains 4 qualifying rounds and 3 elimination rounds (first round, semi final and final).

I really suggest you give it a shot and maybe you'll see why some of us want drag racing in GT5 so bad.

I've had IHRA Drag Racing 2 for awhile and it's pretty fun. You can build your engine how you want, tire sizes, wheels, adjust weights, wheelie bars, ride height, suspension stiffness, the list goes on. You can stage/burnout/line lock/trans brake and all the above mentioned disqualifications^ you can even roll over! zomg! It's kinda fun but it's really not as fun as it could be (like it would in GT) because of the crappy physics, twitchy cars (9999hp isn't really realistic) and the gearing is always screwy. The AI is pretty good since there's variable difficulties, and I've never been able to race a full season because it freezes like 2 races in

I've got IHRA 1 happycorey, never have those problems. 👍 But it is too easy to make a custom engine with 12 cylinders and 9999hp running on nitromethane. I preferred to use a gasoline + nitrous combination, and was able to get my 429ci based 1940's Ford into the 4.9's using all factory parts except for the fuel system which I ran at 4000. :mischievous:

Hey mafia_boy, how much is the Ps3 where you live?

Yeah I'm talking about the second one.. Maybe it's my disc though? idk. But yeah, 9999hp was pretty fun

Ok I got really desperate and here's what happened. Fuji speedway in GT5P, the pits, that strip of white tarmac, I drove down it at 60mph and timed it, works out as 0.26 miles. That's just perfect :P Impreza with 450bhp and clutch slipping handbrake held start ran an 11.8 :]
