I would love Drag racing. With 16 players in one server. But make races 2 at a time, as well that you can do a burnout before starting a race, at least make a AI controlled car for a burnout to warm the tires up.

Damn, a 16 car track day/all out drag racing?! That would be sick. Not only could we race people and eliminate the rest, but it would be a lot of fun.

Even larger ladders would be possible though, as there are only 2 cars at a time. Doesn't matter if we had a 32 car ladder or a 8 car ladder, the same computing power would be used.

Regardless, this would set GT5 so far apart from the rest and add so much more to the game. You might not even need to be online for it to happen, but even offline it would be fun.

But online would include more variety and more unique liverys and car setups

Seeing gt5 will consist of 1000 cars, people most likely not use the same car, just to try and win.

Ex: forza 3, everyone uses the datsun or bugatti, cause they are like the fastest cars in the drag area.

Yeah it's difficult to have a variety, but people always find the top car and exploit it (Art Morrison Corvette, Citroen GT)

BTW 'jdm 209' would you happen to have the blue em1 with the bys?

What blue em1????

But, anyways i'm still have hope for PD adding drag into the game.

Ok, so GT5 is even further delayed. Now I'm actually gonna be pissed if they won't let us drag race each other down a real drag strip...

How about you guys?

EDIT: Check out the heads up race between Jimmy DeFrank and John Shaul in this video.

It shows a couple of reasons why drag racing could be so awesome in GT5.
  • Shows that the reaction time is among the most important things to master as a drag racer
  • Those cars uses only 9" wide slicks, which means no major chassis modifications is needed, and therefore highly possible to include such tires in GT5
  • The interior in those cars are completely stock, except for a roll cage, which again makes it very GT5 friendly

Delayed or not I will be pissed if there's no drag mode available. And I will be further pissed if there's a drifting mode, but no drag racing, since drifting is not racing to begin with.

Staging would be excellent but if it isn't in I won't cry.
Being able to launch early and jump is something it must have. Otherwise it's just build the fastest car, full throttle.

And the variety will be superb, can't wait to take out some lambo's with a DC2 :P Online will be amazing in all divisions just because of the variety of cars people will be driving :D

Online drift battles would be smart too, score battle etc.

And the drag bracket thing is a definite yes. Hope they include it, prob not in offline mode since that isn't how gt does it's careers but possibly online.

Also wheelie bars.

Awesome and fast side by side Super Stock final between Lane and DeFrank...

Thinking about PD including drag racing in GT5 makes my pants wet! Please Polyphony and Kazunori, make this happen!

What? Drifting is racing and requires a ton of skill to do correctly; you forcing the car to slide and then keep it under control.

Damn narrow-minded people.

I think he means drifting is a sport which is judged by a jury, not strictly racing but still motorsport. ;)

At least it requires more technique and skill than Drag Racing, although i'm not exactly a big fan of both.

Just because it requires much skill it doesn't necessarily need to be racing.

Yeah right, let's see you keep 2000-8000hp straight and see how you do. You would be in the wall quicker than you could say "HELP!". I'm sick of people who think because it's a straight track that not much skill is needed, these people have never been to a strip and experienced it first hand. Even with 400hp, if you have the wrong tyre pressures, or if the surface isn't prepared right, it's like driving on black ice.

Just because it requires much skill it doesn't necessarily need to be racing.

Agreed Strittan. Drifting requires skill, but it's judged by a group of people who think it looks good, nothing to do with times at all. It's just like a burnout competition, except the cars are moving at 140km/h.

Okay, so it isn't racing, but it is a motorsport.

But we're here to talk about ACTUAL RACING, not a judged motorsport.

I didn't say it didn't require any skill or technique, it's the same as pro-wrestling, you need some skill and technique otherwise you're screwed.
Doesn't make it any less stupid though in my opinion, it's a love or hate thing and i really don't care much for Drag Racing in general, it's only slightly less boring to watch than Golf on TV, sure when you're there it is completely different just like a plane crash makes more impact if you saw it IRL than on a tiny screen.
Wouldn't mind however if it was included in GT, as a lot of people do seem to like it, and i would probably give it a try myself.
I'm just more of a corner-guy and overtaking manouvres are listed higher on my preferences than blasting along a straight screaming yeehah!! ;)

It's in a different league to pro-wrestling/sports-entertainment, like comparing Premier League to Division 4. You need a HUGE amount of skill to control that much power because even if it's a straight track, the cars certainly do not track straight. Have a watch at the video and pay attention to Jack Beckman's car, for something that's supposed to go straight, it does everything else, while running NHRA ET & Speed records!!

Once you've been to the track you can savour what they do on the TV and appreciate the skill that's required to master that much power in such a short space of distance.

I love circuit racing too, that's what I was brought up on, but try and get a touring car or F1 driver into one of these and they will 🤬 themselves!! The accelerative G-Forces that are experienced in drag racing cannot be replicated anywhere in the world, not even by the space shuttle's launching into space and that's been proven.
