Is it time for PD to finally include a drag race mode?

It all depends on Kazunori, really. NASCAR is included, because of Kazunori alone (or so it seemed according to the note I read in the forum).

I agree, and with the Las Vegas drag strip in GT4 it seems even more possible that Kaz would put in at least one drag strip for two cars to race at once, maybe even 1/8th mile 1/4, 1/2, 1 mile.. who knows.

The only thing that would make this great though is to not have a 3, 2, 1 countdown but you launch from the tree.. so reaction times come into play and you can red light.

Sure, I'd love to do a burnout to warm up the tires, then stage first but.. my first concern is to rid of the 3-2-1.

Maybe we will even have a drag specialty car, like in GT2?

Exactly! What's the point of having a Christmas tree if you have to wait for the countdown? :indiff:
 
Not to bash on forza 3 or anything, but their drag racing is missing a few stuff..

The christmas tree is there and WAY to big, why have one, but not use it?

The traction is just horrible, spinning on a stock Srt-4 with Racing Tires, is just not normal.

I hope PD makes drag racing quiet easy and fun. :)

Drag racing has been hinted about in the GT Series games,lets hope that this time it's all out.

Yeah, I had a completely stock Honda Civic, with a swap and a lot of go fast N/A parts, and big racing tires, and about 220hp. I never caught traction until about after the 1/8th and even beat cars in the 300hp FWD class :crazy:

im sorry, but i dont think the japanese are huge drag racing fans... and we probably would have seen something about it in the teaser movies if it was going to be included...

This feature is a must have! Forza 3 has it and I am expecting to see it in GT5... I would love to run my car against another opponent to see whose faster. Doesn't necessarily have to be dragster cars but modified street cars or any car you can buy/modify. If anyone can do this right PD can since they're very detailed. I agree about getting rid of the 3-2-1 countdown and make it authentic and have the red, green lights at a real drag strip. Please add this!

I dont understand how you would get any sense of achievement from drag racing in Gran Turismo...

You just dont have the fidelity or a clutch control to make it a skill-based achievement... therefore it would just be luck if you won.

Maybe I just dont understand/appreciate drag racing enough..

It was an amazing asset to the game regardless. Even though it wasn't that great, it's better than anything GT had to offer.

If PD did it somewhat right, it would be an amazing addition to GT, and as well as all the other types of racing, the drag racing would be able to take all 'walks of life' (all types of racing) to the track
 
GT4 had drag racing didn't it, only single player though. I honestly used that 100x more than I've used drag mode in forza. I don't have XBL though and the way its set up in event list, was just boring.
 
Exactly like they had in GT4 but with 2 people with please me tbh...

In an ideal world i'd like staging :P but just online drag would be great.

It would be. You could pretend every pass is a free pass. Whether you have an opponent next to you or not makes no difference unless they red light or break down.

Even if there is just one car, like in gt4, you still competed against all other posting their times online. I know that's what I did and many many others with the 22b impreza.

We want drag racing, not a 1/4 mile drag time trial competition, and not a lame excuse of drag racing like Forza 3.

Why bring up GT4 though, GT2 even had the same "drag racing" the only difference is that GT4 had the Vegas drag strip, but also had the 400M trial on the test course, which dates back to GT2.

This is not drag racing, and the trials were pretty pointless because there was nothing to do with reaction times, or trying to keep the car straight.
 
But it has things to do with improving 60 foot times, improving your 0-100km/h, 0-160km/h & ET Speed, shifting at the correct time and setting up each car differently to get the most of out of that car on the strip.

Just remember people, reaction times are not everything!! You can have a great RT, nailing the tree and still get overtaken and demolished by someone who has a better setup car, just like in real life!!

I never looked at it this way, but this is what it really is. I just wish they could include drag racing into GT5 Career mode. Like a shootout of various vehicle types. I know a lot of people wouldn't like it, but it would force them to tune their car in a working matter and enjoy another type of racing (much like WRC/NASCAR/IRL/Super GT)
 
I would love Drag racing. With 16 players in one server. But make races 2 at a time, as well that you can do a burnout before starting a race, at least make a AI controlled car for a burnout to warm the tires up.
 
All i want is a proper quarter mile strip to race down... i dont care much for Special drag cars, modes and big tires and wheelie bars or whatever. i just want a drag strip like GT4 where i can race against friends online, and test my cars 0-60 speeds and quarter mile times.
 
In GT4, that street was just normal street, a proper 1/4 mile strip has more traction, as well more safer.
