Hahha I know 90% of bracket racing but there is still a few things I never got.

Such as, both people have the correct times dialed in, one launches say, a second earlier, gets to the finish line but slams on the brakes to make sure he break out, but within that time the other guy passes him and crosses the line in his allowed time, he wins?

What if they both complete the race in the allowed time, but the first guy crosses the line first, he wins?

If they are both within their respective dial-in's, then it's the first person to the line that wins. For example:
Car A dials in with a 8.20 ET.
Car B dials in with a 9.40 ET.

Car B will get a 1.2sec advantage from the start line. Then Car A will go. If Car B arrives at the finish line first with an ET of 9.40 or higher then Car B will win. If he arrives to the line first in LESS than 9.40 then the win will go to Car A. If Car A makes up the difference and passes Car B to arrive first in 8.20 or higher then Car A will win. If he passes him and it's LESS than 8.20, then Car B will still win.

The exception to this is the double breakout rule. Now, this means that both cars have gone under their dial in (say Car A does 8.12 and Car B does 9.25) but the winner will be the car that is closer to their dial-in (in this case, Car A is only 0.08 under his dial-in where Car B is 0.15 under so Car A would win).

Hopes that helps happycorey. :)

Ahh I see. I was pretty sure about that first part, but I also forgot about double breakout, because I always thought it was whoever broke out first lost and the win went to the other guy.

Thanks 👍

That bit applies to red lighting. The first to red light gives the win to the other, doesn't matter if both are red light reaction times, it becomes a case of first is worst.

I wouldn't get too excited about them taking pics of Infineons drag strip just yet. Even if it isn't included as a functional drag strip pictures would still be taken as it needs to be modelled even in a non functioning form for the full Infineon road course. Just like it was there in GT4.

I do hope it is functioning but I somehow am doubting it. :(
The GT4 version was not very detailed though. But I too am full of doubt. It's PD we're dealing with, which means we can't expect anything.

In short, If by mode you something like NASCAR or WRC...I doubt if drag racing will be a big part in GT5. NASCAR and WRC cars can be used on ordinary circuits. But proper drag cars are built to go fast in a straight line...so that means they can't be use efficiently in circuits. That means drag cars will probably be unable to follow racing lines and therefore unable to race in other events. Again, that means PD will hardly bother including drag racing.

Your point being?

Who said they need to bring us drag cars? They can just let us race at the Infineon drag strip with normal cars!

Thanks for clearing that up for him, and others.

You guys don't see forza 3 has drag cars, except for one hks drag car i think, besides that it's the normal or race cars that they use.

Oh no, my head's just exploded!

One thing that would still be cool though is if they gave us drag slicks and front runners. The slicks should then be a maximum of about 8-10 inches wide though, so that no further visual modifications are needed. Just like in NHRA Stock Eliminator where widening the wheel wells is prohibited.

This would let you have 3 cars in 1 really, if you get what I'm saying. ;)

Also, it would still let the doors open for any type of car to do drag racing. FWD = Drag slicks in the front and front runners in the rear, 4WD = Drag slicks in both the front and the rear and RWD = Drag slicks in the rear andd front runners in the front of course.

This together with Infineon Strip and dial-in... just wow!

Yes, as I have said a few times already, thats the most important item (IMO) :)

Yes, I know you've said it, and I've always wanted it as well, although it's not the most important thing IMO. ;)

Here is a fella trying out the Infineon strip in iRacing. Except for the track being waaaaaay too bright, it looks pretty good.

Pulling the wheels in a Le Mans car? Seriously?
That's not exactly a Le Mans cars, but yes, it's very unrealistic.

Anyways... If PD are so careful measuring the details at the Infineon strip, I'd say they're plain stupid if they do not allow us to race each other on it. I also think it's strange the cover on the tree (which you can see in the iRacing video) is not on while PD are there, if they're not planning on using it.

I didn't see it said Radical in the title.

However, I think it's a safe bet. It's an easily accessible drag strip they could include and why not take advantage of it.

I think this is good news for us drag racing fans. Why else would they go in to so much up close detail if it was not to be included ? They surely don't get this detailed if it is just a background shot for the road course.

Here's hoping. :D

As I said they take details of everything, even if it might be for future use, no point ignoring it as they can't just go out of the studio to get some quick snaps if they realise they need some details. As I've said don't put to much into it, I'm not saying it isn't included but I wouldn't be suprised if it was totally non functional when GT5 comes out.

I really hope it is. If pictures were taken of a dedicated drag strip (not on a facility holding a major road course) I would have much more hope, but for now I wait it out.

You may be right. However, by judging how careful they measure and take photos of details, it will be the most detailed version of that drag strip ever seen in a game. How sad wouldn't it be to not let us race on that piece of art then? They just have to make it usable! And if they don't (which is quite likely) they'll be very stupid in my book.

So, something just came to mind for the future.....and I thank the GT Academy competition for this idea....

What if we as drag racers were given an opportunity via a competition (ala GT Academy style) to take our virtual drag racing and tuning skills from GT5 and be placed in a real life drag racing team (Pro Street, Pro Stock, etc.) and allowed to race over in a professional series like the NHRA. Would that be a good idea and would it entice you to focus more on your 1/4 mile skills?? For me personally, I would be focused entirely on that strip and trying to rip the perfect reaction times to make the best runs possible.

Discuss. :)

Hahahah hell yeah. But if I were to score a top position and move on to become a driver, I wouldn't turn it down, but my heart wouldn't be in it. I would much rather trade the chance to be in a touring car race league

I'd like to have it included if for nothing more than the nostalgia I feel when thinking of an old PC drag game. I've never been interested in the big high speed drag racers, but there is an odd curiosity involved with the modification of street cars.

At the same time, I would love to see the inclusion of some salt flats. It doesn't seem very GT, but since I've been reading these forums, I've seen that GT is so many things to a great many different people. And though I love the courses, sometimes it would just be nice to fool around in an open area, driving a beautiful car, in a game with great physics.

So, the Japanese release date is closing in.

Unfortunately I have the feeling we wont see drag racing in the game. I hope I will be proven wrong, but I don't think it's likely. :(

Same here. We still haven't had any proof of it (not that it was said to be on GT5, but), and I believe it's one of the Modes I would play the most if it made it to the game. :(

im sorry, but i dont think the japanese are huge drag racing fans... and we probably would have seen something about it in the teaser movies if it was going to be included...

It's not like it's going to be a huge feature, it's just going to be one or two race tracks included to do it ourselves.

It all depends on Kazunori, really. NASCAR is included, because of Kazunori alone (or so it seemed according to the note I read in the forum).
