Tonights race will be hosted by me so if you haven't done this already, add me (SymP_4000) to your friends list to have easy access. I hope to setup the room at least one hour before qualification for practice. Please try to be there in time!

And to remind you once again: please read the Rules and Regulations!

And one last thing: There is a formation lap!

Dude's, I'm out for the rest of the season, too much on with work etc and can't commit, so one of the reserves can have my spot, sorry guys

^ looks like your the new goruk lol, he had alot of problems with connections in DTM2. All you can do is hope that you have better connection next week, also thats why it's best to get in room before 930pm so that we can make sure everyone has good connection.

Overall very good start to season alot of damage for some people but overall a very clean race. Good job everyone and well done to Teeds who won and lead most of the race.

Hi guys!
It started with a lot of emotion DTM 3, the starting grid with ten pilots and knowing who missed three veterans (JT, PIPI, GORUK), this season promises!👍 This race was very mechanical work (ruined my race, when the formation laps, I found two cars completely stopped on the track, lol), maybe due to lag...
Congratulations to Teeds, who won the debut race!

overall, good race. :dopey:
my strategy was flawed, but still managed to make due.
after my first pit (L9) H>M , i was 1'20" behind, i expected that, and managed to claw back my way the rest of the race to around 7 or 8 seconds by the last lap.
the flaw was that i should have finished on Hards as then i could have done less laps on them and overall had a better time. i was about 5 secs faster on softs than hards, so those extra laps would have made the diff (I believe Teed followed this pit/tyre strat)

i do however, have some qualms: :ill:

there was confusion at the start.

right before the race started, on the in game 'grid' - i was between voodoo and flexi. this apparently seems to not be the same in all players screens. this can pose a problem since it means that some people cant see the correct grid

Possible Solution: could the room host list the grid in chat before the formation lap starts? i understand its a bit of extra work, but it would avoid confusion ...

also, @ 2'55" , green rear ended me on the formation lap causing damage to both my rears. could that please be reviewed? i was repeatedly braking before the incident, so the signs of slowing down were there. I also understand that he damaged himself, however that doesnt explain why i should have damage vs other cars than green. Pitting would have instantly lost me the race, so I had to stay out with the damage - this costed me time for each lap until i pitted. 👎

indian, at one of your pit exits, you popped out right in front of me.
now this is not a complaint, but more of a query on respect; i joined this series because i know there will be good competition. that means that i respect the other drivers and their abilities. I was faster than you, on warmed tyres, yet you didnt ceede a line for me to cleanly pass you.
I'm not saying that you should or have to let me or anyone pass - what I am saying is treat your competitors how you wish to be treated.
If that is already the case, great, at least i now know for next time. :dunce:

Apart from that, great race, and i'm looking forward to the season with great expectations of good competition/racing! 👍

neth i think you've got me mixed up with felix, i never hit anyone but saas, i never had any damage the whole race.
I don't know if this is something to with connection or something that made your grid different from other people's but I was 5th behind wolf who was 3rd and you were 6th behind voodoo who was 4th.
I believe symp will be the one reviewing the race so if you wish to make a complaint against any driver he's the man you should pm or JT.

Since we're all discussing what happened to us in the race, here's my story. At the start the game would not let me pull away. I was starting 8th and I watched the field drive off for the formation lap. Godoias was right behind me thinking I was an idiot. Trust me I was flat on the accelerator. Then somewhere around lap 4 I had worked my way up to 5th behind Green and we were coming down to that hairpin at the end of sector one. Green braked crazy early and I bumped him off the track and into the sand. As I complete the corner, all of a sudden Green is in front of me and driving off. This is classic case of serious lag. I've never seen it happen quite like that but lag none the less. I painfully watched his car go sliding into the sand after I made contact. I felt terrible but then there he was right in front of me. Almost a Vettle/Webber situation.

Contact is going to happen. No matter how hard we try to control it. None of us would watch racing if there was no contact. With the exception of F1. People making bad decisions, reacting too late, getting greedy and going for a small gap, these are all things that make racing fun and interesting. But obviously someone is always on the crappy end of it.

The formation lap has always been a problem. During this race we had a lot of rookies and it created some problems.

-The leaders took off way too fast

-From 3rd back to 6th was bumper to bumper.

-Almost no one lined up two by two heading for start/finish.

We have to give each other more room during the formation lap. Lag becomes a serious problem when driving so slow and so close. Just back off, there is absolutely no rush. We can all bunch coming out of the final couple corners. Even then you should not be right behind the car in front of you, you should be off to the side. We should be staggered. If your not right behind the car in front, when they lag a little you wont get hit. We've all seen rolling starts on TV its not that difficult.

On a side note: Goruk sent me an Orange Audi TT and I'm not sure why. Lol.

I want to remind everybody to follow the GTP Online Racing & Guidelines (chapter 17) and rule 6.4 of the DTM rules regarding complaints or incidents.

But since this discussion is into the open i want to say the following about the formation lap. It seems to be the most difficult part of the race :)

- First of all, the pace of the formation lap was way too high and very unbalanced causing too much unnecessary accelerating and emergency braking. The cars were too close to each other. Maybe we should just press the pause button and let the computer drive this lap :) I want to encourage everybody to re-read chapter 5 of the rules regarding the formation lap! There wasn’t a two lane grid before the start.
- If you got damaged by someone who crashes into you (by accident or lag) during the formation lap, you can call for a restart. In my replay there was no contact between greennarcotics and nethereal on 2:55 btw, so I think it must be caused by lag. This could also have been avoided if the formation was in two lanes at a slower constant speed.
- There was some confusion about the grid order. It is known that the grid order that is displayed during qualification isn’t always correct. When people exit to the pit while on the track instead of driving to the pit it gets distorted. However, the game uses the correct times for the grid order when the race starts. This is the order we use (rule 4.8).

Anyway, I think it was a very good first race for this third season of the DTM Series Championship. A great turnout and I hope we’ll have an even fuller grid next week when JT, Goruk and Blackwolf are back.
The good news is that Sassafrass has re-joined the Series again and will replace Stevymccaff perminently who could not find time to commit. Welcome back Sass! 👍

If I can find the time I will post the results and standings tonight!

Hi guys, glad to hear that you guys had a nice race:tup:.

Just a little tip for everyone, during formation lap, I always had done zig-zags, hard acceleration and braking to warm up my tires and I've never rear end nobody, why? if the guy in front of you is on the right side of the track, do your braking on the left side, or the other way around, simple as that.

Sass, I haven't sent you an orange TT-R, I've sent you a Lv17 ticket that could give you an ABT AUDI TT-R or a DTM Audi A4, unfortunately you get a HPA tuner TT.

Yes, im back. Thx to stevy for giving up the spot. Thx for trying goruk, very thoughtful of you. I'll send you the TT back since i don't really need it.

Good work symp as always, was just thinking it would be good to have a video with all the best crashes, overtakes ect and was just wondering if nethereal, indywolf or anyone else who can record the replays would be up for doing it. Also good to see 5 different cars in top 6, it looks like cars are very even.

Rome best lap -105.1 :P .........anyone got a 104.XX

hi guys, Im looking to join up as a reserve driver. Green told me about this event so id thought I could give it a go. thx, A-Brick

Looked like a really interesting race. And a lot closer than previous races. Maybe the power drop to 473bhp has had an effect. Looking forward to this Saturday and get this BMW M3 GTR on the road.

aBrick i've added you to the reserve list. Keep an eye out for drivers dropping out through the week so you can step in.

1:05 lap time in Rome so i think 55 laps + 1 formation lap.
Pit window 1 - 11-22
Pit window 2 - 33-44

Rome could be interesting with it being a city circuit and hopefully a full grid. More space than Monaco but still tight.

I would be happy to record, but if one thing grand valley has taught me is tat tire compounds do have a huge effect on your performance

happy to record as well - best for people to remember times/laps of interest and to let us know post race - this will help making a montage less time consuming

You can say that again! My stint on softs was pretty good, on meds was ok (but messed up due lag/glitches), and on hards was horrendous.

sweet neth and wolf, well if everyone watches their own replays and tell these guys about any good overtakes, crashes or anything you think will be good in the vid. Then hopefully towards the end of the season we should have a cool montage vid :D.

yes sometimes it's best to tune your car so it's more stable on hards, you might lose time on the soft tires but. But losing 0.5s a lap on soft tires is better than losing 10sec a lap on hard cause you can't keep it on the track.

ps symp love the new graphics, you have took out iamracer24 but and have death down as astra and reserve driver

Thanx man. Had some free time and thought I spend it wisely :)

But lmracer24 send me a message that he's still in. He had a tornado passing by Saturday causing a blackout.

Just to let you guys know, I wont be able to race this Saturday, so maybe a reserve drive can take my place.
