Well according to GT5 the S2000 320i from '04 (E46? Not good with model names sorry) were at 276hp. I reckon the next BTCC one was around 300hp.

E46 320 was 6 cylinder IIRC, everything since was 4 cylinder.

Considering it was built by the best engine builder in the BTCC NBE it's far bit more than 275 and more than 300.

Possibly, I was just going by the figures BMW claimed for a factory touring car, although now I've checked they rate the WTCC 1.6 turbo at 310, so yes I'd have expected the 2l turbo NGTC engine to be much higher.

edit: I'm confused now... :) which engine did WSR run last year?

West Surrey racing have run the Neil brown engineering engine. Same as what Honda and pirtek use.

This year and last? Was the chassis etc. S2000 and the engine NGTC in 2012 then?

Seriously, it's amazing how much of a blur 2012 was to me... I didn't follow it (the BTCC) so much last year since I hardly got to see it.

Yes, all cars used NGTC engines in 2012.
And in 2011 only the BMWs and Chevrolet's didn't use NGTC engines. (apart from Lea Wood's BTC Integra).

So am I. This is the first day that I feel fully recovered enough after LM24 to do anything other than sleep. Now I can watch the BTCC races that I completely forgot about.

I just watched all three races and they were very good! Good performance by Jake Hill in his debut. Great to see Turk on fire with two victories and really put a pressure on the rest. We all know that Croft really suits the BMW very well but hopefully this is just the start of BMW to really challenge for the championship. Enjoyed it 👍

Yet another new livery for Tom Onslow-Cole:

In bigger news, Frank Wrathall might be in trouble:

Well that doesn't sound good for him. Would that go down as manslaughter?

I know the courts used to be a lot more lenient on driving deaths. Like knocking a girl off a bike whilst you're drunk and only getting a couple of hundred pound fine.

Would that go down as manslaughter?
It depends on what he has been charged with. When you are arrested, you are charged with a specific crime. If you are committed to stand trial, then you are tried for the crime you are charged with. If Wrathall was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death, then he won't stand trial for manslaughter - he'll stand trial for dangerous driving occasioning death. It will only change if he pleads guilty to a lesser-included offence. Prosecutors will sometimes charge people with two separate, but related crimes; in this case, manslaughter and dangerous driving occasioning death. Wrathall would stand trial for manslaughter, but may plead guilty to the lesser offence, dangerous driving occasioning death, in exchange for a lighter sentence.

Both articles there mention causing death by dangerous driving.

Looking at the link, this would seem to be a level 3.

Level 3 - This is driving that created a significant risk of danger and is likely to be characterised by:

Driving above the speed limit/at a speed that is inappropriate for the prevailing conditions OR
Driving when knowingly deprived of adequate sleep or rest or knowing that the vehicle has a dangerous defect or is poorly maintained or is dangerously leaded OR
A brief but obvious danger arising from a seriously dangerous manoeuvre OR
Driving whilst avoidably distracted OR
Failing to have proper regard to vulnerable road users

The starting point and range overlap with Level 2 is to allow the breadth of discretion necessary to accommodate circumstances where there are significant aggravating factors.

Nature of offence: Level 3
Driving that created a significant risk of danger

[where the driving is markedly less culpable than for this level, reference should be made to the starting point and range for the most serious level of causing death by careless driving]

Starting point: 3 years custody
Sentencing range: 2-5 years custody

Silly boy.

Damn, very disappointing... although we should reserve judgement for now as everything I've read about it describes the incident differently.

Surprised it's been kept quiet for this long

He hasn't been steller the past 2 or 3 rounds. Obviously had stuff on his mind.

The actual incident happened over a year ago though. Sure, going to court and having to sort everything out afterwards is a distraction, but not nearly as much as a distraction as the incident itself! If he was going to suffer in form due to being mentally distracted, that would have happened last year surely?

Although it is weird that all of the Toyota drivers are struggling except Adam Morgan who is having an excellent season! Newsham seems to be getting it together recently but the Toyota's seem pretty mediocre this season.

Hopefully for Frank he gets cleared, but it doesn't sound good. If he loses his license or has to serve time I wonder if Dynojet will find someone else? Its a family team and it seems unclear how much of the sponsorship is personal or external?

If he's convicted of death by dangerous driving, he will will lose his licence and since he is solely culpable (driving on the phone) he will, in all likelihood, get jail time (minimum of a year, max of 14 depending on circumstances).

So more than likely a year, possibly two or three as he's not a big shot celeb racing driver like an F1 driver.
