Great result for the BMW's today. I think Collard deserved to keep his position in race 3, Turk didn't look much quicker, so swapping them round would probably have meant neither would have caught Neal. I want Turk to win, but a cynical points switching move isn't racing, so I'm alright this.

Knockhill really is one of my favourite circuits....

Spot the error in Toyota UK's FB page report.

Adam Morgan put in the drive of the day at Rockingham to fight his way from the back of the grid to 10th place in the BTCC finale at the wheel of his Ciceley Racing Toyota Avensis. His lowly grid spot came as a result of his race two retirement with a broken driveshaft, but Adam was able to battle through the order in tremendous style: “I set off like a rocket,” he said, “and I think I worked the tyres too hard and they were soon gone. Still, 10th from the back of the grid is good and I salvaged some points after our disappointment in race two. This could have been a mega weekend for us but it’s turned out just OK.” Ollie Jackson followed up his points-scoring finishes in races one and two with 12th place for Speedworks, but there was disappointment for Toyota men Dave Newsham and Frank Wrathall: Dave retired from the fray with suspension problems after running eighth while Frank spun off on lap two.

Turkington excluded from Race 3 :(

Also welch have bought another of the s2000 focus stupidly cheaply.

Also disappointed the tv coveraged missed cleland's rant during the Porsche race, it was epic.

So with 9 races left and the standings currently looking like this:
Lea Wood 10 wins
Liam Griffin 6 wins

Who do we think will win the overall Jack Sears Trophy? Lea Wood has naturally been clear favourite from the beginning but Griffin has been right with him in most races.
Knockhill is by far Lea Wood's worst track judging by his full season last year so I would surely put money on him. But it only takes a little bit of bad luck and some shoves from the slower NGTC cars to change fortunes!

Its a shame James Kaye has suffered so much with reliability issues with the Golf and had to skip rounds for business commitments and injuries as he would surely be right in the thick of it too. Even though he pretty much has to win all remaining rounds to fight for the title, he might still play a decisive role in that Civic as its undoubtedly the best car in the S2000 class.

Is that the same one which AmD had on media day but never registered for the championship?

Didn't ask to be honest, they got it for almost the same cost as a fully loaded ST which i couldn't believe when he told me the price and that wasn't just the shell it included the running gear and the engine which alone is 30k.

Also if anyone really thinks these cars only produce 320-330bhp just no.....

The Proton at the end of the straight tops out at 137mph, The only other car i've personally logged at that speed was a 740bhp Evo 7 RS which admittedly didn't have a gearbox matched to the track or a flat shift and weighed about 200kg more.

A 997 Turbo S with PDK is 128mph and an EVO X with 503 BHP and a Flat shift gearbox is 126mph and an 800BHP Focus Cosworth with a sequental box is 143mph.

It's amazing the difference between a really fast car and a proper race car.

The Audi also had an insane amount of exit speed advantage as well.

This year I watched all the BTCC races through youtube because here in France I can't watch ITV4. This is racing as it should be! Thrilling, fun, surprises, bumps nudges. It's one of the best motorsport series in the world. I watched BTCC a lot in the ninetees and to be honest the quality of the current season is almost on par with the golden era. The hosts of the show, especially Harvey, I like a lot. He is funny and has good knowlegde. He brings all the information very well to the viewer. Hilarious this weekend I found when he said, he carried all the extra ballast himself.

 to BTCC!

I'd go as far as saying the past few seasons have been better than the super-touring years. We seem to get very few processional races these days and we get a lot of surprise winners and podium finishers, especially thanks to the reverse race 3 grids.
Also the format of 3 races as well as the increased coverage of the support races..all live. And we get qualifying broadcast online live...

Perhaps we don't have same level skill in the drivers as the late 90s, but certainly the top 10 (swap Jeff Smith for Onslow-Cole) are well worthy of being on the grid and would give anyone a run for their money in any other current touring car series around the world.

While the cars are no where near the F1-ridiculous levels of engineering they were at the end of the 90s, for me that was never what touring cars were about. While even today the cars are just a shell on top of a spec chassis, at least the racing is close without needing any of the gimmicks like DRS in F1 and DTM or "push-to-pass" (well, the boost kind..not the bumping kind :P).

I can't think of any other championships that have the entire day of racing broadcast live. I love it.

I still wish I could see Muller (know he is in Citroen next year in WTCC), Huff, Chilton, Fabrizio, and Thompson back. But yeah, brilliant stuff this year 👍

If Proton, Audi or VW would give a bit more factory support to Welch, RAR and HARD respectively, maybe then we could see some paid drivers like them back. Unfortunately, I know at least for Rob Austin he keeps mentioning that Audi are barely interested at all.

Chilton could be back any time he likes though with the backing he has :P

I'm surprised none of these small independent teams have attempted to court Nissan as they're clearly increasing their involvement in motorsport globally.

Austin did get a mention on Audi Sport fan page but other than that :indiff:

That is my issue - MG and Honda are still somewhat like a class ahead, Pirtek a little as well.

What could they race with, I can't think of a Nissan that would appropriate... A Juke?

That'd be as nuts as this...

On the manufacturer participation thing, out of interest, teams that run a BMW Motorsport vehicle (in any major competition) are eligible for the BMW Sports Trophy. The top 25 drivers around the world get a prize payout up to €30,000, as well as receiving discounts on a number of things such as BBS, Recaro, H & R, Castrol, Puma, Crowne Plaza, Race Spirit and BMW VIP sales, as well as "Every BMW Sports Trophy driver is insured against accidents at all official race events that count towards the BMW Sports Trophy standings". In 2012 Rob Collard managed to finish 22nd overall in the BMW Sports Trophy...... However.. I'm not sure if WSR are still eligible this year with the NGTC car.

I don't know if other manufacturers offer a similar thing or not, but it's nice that people representing BMW on an private basis are recognised by BMW.

^Meh, as I've said before, for me I like the BTCC (and touring cars generally) because we get variations in body shapes, drivetrains, etc. I love seeing stuff like the classic Minis versus Dodge Chargers to even the more unique shapes like the Volvo Estate or the current BMW 125.

The Nissan Note? It's slightly too small for NGTC regulations but then so is the Honda Civic.

I know that Toyota do seemingly provide some backing (not sure how much or in what form). The various Toyota drivers/teams get mentioned in some of the press releases I think.

Pretty much every other manufacturer in the BTCC has little to no involvement, I think almost all of them have either simply provided or sold the shells the teams are using and thats it.
Presumably Tony Gilham has some contact with VW as I seem to remember pictures of them receiving the Passat roadcars from overseas.
