I doubt they will be announcing the PS4 at E3 this year, so it is even more unlikely that we will hear about GT6. Next year is when we will hear about both.

Too bad hearing about and seeing are drastically different.

I hear about both all the time, just unofficially very unofficially.

Well if it isn't going to be at E3 or Tokyo Game Show this year, then GT6 will most likely land in 2014 or later. To be honest, that's really too long of a wait since 2010 for me, especially for what GT5 was and is, as a game and the content/features it had. GT5 is just "done" and having to depend on "DLC" the rest of the way till 2014 or whatever is not what I'd like to have in mind. It's not like DLC is free either.

No. It's based on GT5 and GTPSP and GT4 and GT3.

GTPSP was supposed to be a port of GT4 for the handheld, and it was supposed to come out fairly soon in the PSP's life (launch window, most likely) considering it was announced at the same time the system was. 5 years later, PD dumped what was basically some framework and some licence tests that they forgot to design a game around.

GT4 was originally supposed to come out sometime before Christmas of 2003. They delayed it a year and ultimately gave it a release date of 12/3/2004 for Japan and 12/14/2004 for America, and then delayed it again not even a month before the release date (by little under a month for Japan, 2 months for America) and stripped the online mode from it at the last minute.

GT3 was originally supposed to be something along the lines of an enhanced GT2 that would come out on the PS2 launch. Then it got pushed back to the U.S. lauch. Then it got pushed back a few more months, at which point Sony gave up and decided that they wanted GT3 as it ended up being instead. Then Kaz personally held up development of the game to add more cars to the game, then did it again to add a few concept cars (Acura RSX, Nissan 350z concept, Mazda RX-8) from the Detroit Motor Show when the game was originally meant to come out a month prior to that show in Japan.

The only reason GT5 gets most of the attention is because:
  • It had the biggest profile delays and the longest development time.
  • Kaz would not stop talking about how the game was in the can and ready for release over a year before it eventually came out, and that they kept delaying it to make it "perfect."
  • They made an absolutely monster deal about the final, set in stone release date for the game, and then missed it anyway.

But that precedent started long before GT5. You can say what you want about PD's skills, but time management is not one of them; and arguably never was even back in the GT2 days.
you do have a point there. This and the fact that details or even a little anything would have been leaked already.

We shouldn't forget they had a huge earthquake and tsunami and have moved all or some staff and there families to the other side of the country.
How ever long GT6 takes I hope that PD keep supporting GT5 with new content right up until GT6 is nearing completion.

Since you're new around these parts or at least your post count and profile says that, such a thing that happened over a year ago was tragic but not something that has halted GT production. It may have slowed it down, but any slowing down was taken care of and sorted out the following months. Also with PSN going down a couple times after the tsunami that also delayed things. Yet let's not confuse anything here, PD has had a faulty time line and accomplish rate all the way back to GT2. Just do the research here or on the web and it becomes apparent.

Probably nothing at E3. I think we won't see anything GT related until PS4 is shown (assuming GT6 is a PS4 title).

GT6's announcement will come after Sony announces the PS4.

Agreed. GT5 is already pushing the limit of the current engine for graphics. Especially since 3D technology is becoming more affordable I highly doubt GT6 for ps3. GT6 will more than likely be a PS4 launch title.

I'm starting to agree, but it'll be interesting. My bet is 6 is released on the PS3, months before the PS4 release date is announced.

We shall see.

If they didn't improve the boring action in GT5, and we get to drive on rails again, I couldn't care less.

Guys, guys... GT5 already pushing the PS3 in terms of graphics have nothing to do on whether or not GT6 will be released for the PS4. There are plenty of other things to improve on other than graphics you know, that will make it a probable release for the PS3. Plus, look at games like the next God of War, which is to be released for the PS3, and we all know how good GOW3 looks like. I doubt GOWIV will look dramatically better. Even more simply, look at Call of Duty. That thing has been running on the same engine for ages!

So yes, GT6 doesn't have to have a dramatic increase in graphics or physics capability, especially knowing the fact that the game's engine can already run the Nurb. 24hr. with 12-16 cars, dynamic weather, and day/night transition! We just need more of that on new tracks, cars, and events. Just looking at the GT Academy demo and its menu screen/design is refreshing enough to grasp at. I think it's time for GT6 soon. I'm hoping 2013.

Bearing in mind the 10 year lifespan for the PS3, it's still too early to talk about a new Playstation. If GT5 has reached what the PS3 can handle in terms of graphics and physics, I dare say I expect a shade more. I mean the crash physics need a deep polish to be credible, the shadows and weather effects are poorly rendered... The list could go on, but my point is that's too early to claim for a new system. Only a few studios can develop games at native 1080p with butter smooth 60fps. And obviously PD still fails to master these basic "nex" current gen' prerequisites. What good would it be to move on to a new system if the current one isn't fully mastered yet?
As per GT6 itself, to me PD owes us a game that looks and feels polished. GT5 is a great game, don't get me wrong, but with so many years spent on development, I expected not more contents but a better general implementation of all the great features GT5 offers.

They don't delay system launches to fit PD's whim.

The only way GT 6 will be shown or even mentioned at E3 is if Sony reveals details about the next PlayStation and GT6 ends up being announced as a maybe release title.

Otherwise, nah.

Maybe just a teaser trailer?

There has been 2 gt's for every platform i think it will be for ps3 and with the ability to update software i dont think the ps3(or xbox360) is going any where for a while. I think gt5 i great in the sense that its alot like gt3 was for ps2. I dont doubt that Sony gave us a system that could potentially be infinitely upgrade/updatable. GT6 would be cool. They could give us better graphics by eliminating the tons of duplicate cars that have no differences spec wise and condensing it down to 2 or 3 versions of those vehicles and giving us a livery editor, and more body mods you can recreate most of your favorite cars. When I was playin forza1 I could recreate all of the gt-r r34 models with the vspec nur provided and a good eye for detail.

They Said they will Support the PS3 10 years. But they NEVER talked about a PS4 Release. That means they can Release a PS4 and Support the PS3 After the PS4 release.

GT5 dont run in 1080p with 60FPS. The PS3 can't handle 1080p on any AAA titel.

GT5 runs in nativ 720p @ 45-60 FPS.

Kaz some times ago said that the next project at PD is GT6, so more likely we'll see GT6 instead of GT for PS Vita, if at the next E3 something will be announced.

I highly doubt it and I hope not. If these rumors of the next gen consoles are true, and we do see a new console soon, GT6, I hope, should be launch title. We don't want them to put the work into this game and have it launch at the end of the consoles life cycle. It's happened in the past where a really good game is launched at the end of consoles life cycle and never gets the attention it should *cough* Conker's *cough* *cough*

As much as I'd like it, take the extra time, put the extra polish on it and launch with a fresh new console that can handle what Kaz wants to do with the series.

The problem is if Sony does decide to launch a PS4 soon, PD can't just magically make GT6 a launch title, unless PD themselves have worked on the PS4 dev kits with the game the past two years. The fact that Kaz said there hasn't been any solid plans on when or what to do with GT6 makes me doubt this. That also means that they would be developing GT6 for the PS4 right now in conjunction with providing GT5 support.

For it to be a "legit" launch title, developers would need to work on the game far in advance to the console's launch date, especially in the scale of GT or any AAA title. Otherwise, it can only be a title at least a year or so after the console's launch. Thus, we won't be seeing GT6 for at least 2014 if it's gonna be released for the PS4, unless you think PD can pull off a miracle. I just want to point this out to everyone that wants GT6 for the PS4, and that it's going to be at least another couple years of waiting from now... that is if PD is solid on their plans.

I just don't see 4-5 years being a typical cycle for a GT game. That's just gonna get them behind from competition.

There is no way it will be announced. If it is announced, well it shouldnt be. GT5 needs all the cars to be premium before even considering putting out another game on the PS3. IF it is announced, it better be announced for the PS4.

You want GT6 on PS4, you add two extra years to whenever the system comes out. Simple as.

Whether or not Sony will let them pull that again, especially when PD is already playing catch up, is another matter entirely.

No it doesn't. It runs native 720p with 4xAA when you have it set to 720p. When you have it set to 1080p it runs 1280x1080 with 2xAA and uses resolution tricks have have it display at 1920x1080.

We get it. For God's sake, we get it.

I think it is inevitable that PS3 will get GT6 considering the amount of money spent on GT for this gen...

Launch titles usually suck anyway, but no one notices because they are too immersed in their fancy new console.
