Engine Swaps in Gran Turismo 7? New Screenshots Raise New Questions

To me, the three most important engine swaps will be:

  • 13B from the RX-7 or RX-8 Spirit R into the Roadster Touring Car
  • 2JZ from the Supra into the Prius G (with full race kit)
  • S65 from the E92 M2 into the E30 M3 Evolution

Anything else is fairly insignificant for me!
The E30 M3 not need this Engine. The E30 is PERFECT simle

I feel like I'm one of a small amount of people that thins kinda thing does absolutely nothing for me.

Gonna look real dumb when a relatively stock bodied, say, S30 Z flies by you with the equiv of a JATO rocket under the hood on its narrow tires.

If engine swaps are locked between Manufacturers that's going to be pretty lame. Like WHY? I swear Kaz and PD can be so frustrating.

It will have nothing to do with Kaz and PD, it will be down to the licences agreements with manufacturers, they will most certainly limit it.

They could do a Forza and have generic engines as well as named ones, but even that will have it's limits. If the OEM doesn't want the engines in it's cars swapped, they you don't get to do it.

It's a bit slow by today's standards. It would be nice to be able to give the car a whole load more power, as has been done in real life with engine swaps from newer M3's. I've even seen someone drop an M5 engine into one...
p78
how about the S50B30 engine
Not a bad option, but the S65 is such a beast. And light too (comparatively speaking) being an aluminium block...

They're not likely to be locked between manufacturers (ie. the Porsche engine in the Beetle) but I think they're more likely to be along the lines of reality - so you can't just steal the engine from the Tomahawk and drop it into the Fiat 500, because that would just be stupid. It's more likely to be swaps that have been done and/or are relatively easy, and manufacturer-based swaps are relatively straightforward compared to cross-manufacturer swaps (like pulling the engine out of a newer Toyota and dropping it into the AE86. That said, I'm making assumptions based on the one example we've been given (that Beetle...)

Hartge a German Tuner set the M5 V10 from E86 (i think that right ) into a E90 .. A Beast on Tyres.

S85B50 V10 was in E60/E61 M5 and E63/E64 M6... Width of a V, and shorter than an I6, so the E9x platform should have been pretty straight forward for the V10.. There were 1 series conversions done with the V10 as well.

Racing Dynamics put a V12 in an E36 Compact...

The K55... that's about the most mental engine swap I've seen in a road legal BMW, from the point of view of making things fit anyway... BMW didn't think Alpina putting a V8 in the E36 was feasible!

Will be interesting to see what Kaz has to say about it. I don't doubt manufacturers had something to say regarding swaps, but i also don't doubt Kaz being a debbie downer and limiting it in some fashion himself. He has done it before with other things.

But will we be able to strap a Flux Capacitor and a Mr Fusion (Krups coffee grinder in real life) to a Delorian?

I was wondering if the weight of the car would change with the engine swap. A standard beetle 1100 weighs 720kg, it's engine aprox. 90 kg. The M96 engine from Porsche weighs aprox. 200kg so it means a big increase on the overall weight of the car, plus it would shift the weight ratio between front and back drastically. Problem is that I can't compare it with the weight in GT7 because the beetle has a stage 5 weight reduction, weighing 686kg with the Porsche engine.

I don't think they will calculate that. It would be nice if they did though.

at least on generic engines it will absolutely have everything to do with PD's stance, like you said the precedent shows that at least with generic engines (which arent generic if you browse for the in game data), manufacturers agree, Forza has engine swaps allowed for all, even the P70 has a bike engine swap available

we are getting swaps between the same brand group, since porsche belongs to VAG, so pretty good so far, could we get an SR20DET Clio? that would be rad.

but i wouldnt get my hopes up, if we have engine swaps in this game, i would rule out "generic" ones, that would be too much work for PD...

I have a feeling Ferrari is gonna be left out of this, along with being limited to what visual mods we can do.

I at least hope to make a pseudo F8 Tributo GTE/GT3 but I have my doubts.

I don't think the engine in the F8 would prevent you from producing the necessary power output necessary for a GT3. The engines in GT3's are not that different from the road cars. In many cases the road car engine actually has to be restricted in a GT3.

The limiting factor will be that you can't put enough downforce on the car to make it effective. (and probably a Stage 3 weight reduction might not be enough either)

It's still one of the most popular and most used cars worldwide! It's literally in every drifting event, Nurburgring track day etc. I was never a fan of it but i understand the importance of this model!
Because it's crap and most people can afford to ruin them 😜.

I agree though, would be nice to see all generations of the M3 represented. But the E36 is the least missed if we can't have it.

Most E36 drift cars are not M3s. They're lesser models, often with engine swaps! And they're cheap enough to smash into a wall and not care about much anymore!
based on what?
Excluding the newer turbo ones, the E36 is ranked as the worst of the NA models. They're not a terrible car, but they lack all the drama and finesse of the other NA models. The E92 with its amazing V8, the E30 which started it all, and the E46 which was the epitome of the M3. The styling has the least impact and drama, the interior was fairly bland and uneventful. The engine was a gem and the handling was nice and precise though, which is obviously important for an M car. However, most of them have been written off or rusted into a state of disrepair now, unless they've been fastidiously maintained...

its my less favourite but i wouldnt go as far as saying is the worst one, considering its quite more reliable than the e46, plus, at the time the e36 had a great impact as far a chassis dynamics goes and still does, you dont see more e36s than e36s at most trackdays, and it isnt because of cost

anyway, thanks for elaborating!

a case could be made with the e36 m3 saloon, the 318i was important on jtcc races, it fits the game more than the e46 does to be fair
