GT Sport second week in UK was 29,000. Beats the launch week for Forza 7 and twice that of PCars :)
61% drop is good.

Why is this forum so negative on Gran Turismo? Ive been lurking here since GT4 and every single GT has been met with huge negativity here. Meanwhile o the other boards there hardly any negative post. I really dont understand it. What is it? Oh I know, its becausevts the #1 racing game. Haters gona hate. If this were a full blown GT7 there would still be as much hate. Anyways GT Sportvis very addictive and the Sport mode isvwhatvI'vevalways wanted in Gran Turismo, its aboutvdamn time and I'm glad Sony had the balls to do it. There #1 because they take the most risk and it pays off more often then not. Forza 7 doesn't belong in the same sentance as GT Sport its not even a sim. Its a poor quality copy cat.
Calm down there , mate. Do not mistake constructive criticism with negativity. There's nothing good comes out when everyone is just going to praise the game.

And I repeat my post of last week.

This is not a GTS vs Forza (or any other title) thread.

I voted 2 million

But i seriously now doubt it makes it to even 1 million

Down in Europe
down in japan
And we have to wait and see about NA to see

GTSport down to no 7 in Japan with 17,670 sales this week.

If I read the numbers right that means sales are down 88% after the first week in Japan. Just curious to see if @GT6mebe thinks this 88% decline is as good as the 61% drop in the U.K. was.

Still far too early and data too incomplete to make any long term, accurate predictions.

Sorry for the necro-reply, apparently this was sitting in my drafts.

61% drop is good.. I wonder what the number would have to be for you to say it's not good:lol:. 98% 99%?

I'm not familiar with the average percentage drop for second-week sales of video games (because I only pay attention to this genre), but in the movie industry, that's not too far off the average for big blockbusters. Not great, but not bad.

Following that model, we've already seen a good chunk of the game's lifetime sales figures. Of course, games are a far different beast to movies, and PD's post-launch support will play a huge role in the game's long-term appeal. It no longer has the jack-of-all-trades approach to rely on, but if it's clear this is a GaaS, that may not matter.

FH3 was the genre outlier the last few years: it had surprising legs in some markets. Part of that undoubtedly comes down to bundling (GT3, anyone?), so Sport's bundling with some PS4s in racing-happy Europe should help too.

Going by the numbers in regions we do know already (and considering likely digital sales), GT Sport should already be at or very near the seven-figure mark. There's practically no way this game sells under that.

Agreed, but there are some people on the forum that constantly post negatively about the game and never anything positive nor constructive.

You can always ignore those type of people. Personally I have no problem with them I just hate when people over exaggerate things. Anyway, this thread is about GTSport estimate sale and it is not the right place to talk about this kind of conversation, lol.

So true. Sometimes I am wondering why this forum still has GT in the title.

Because the main focus mostly on the form is Gran turismo. They build off the form from the game series. Where could we find GT new and info. Other game get coverage too but that side for extras people who not in to GT.

If GT Sport do 5 million in the world in its life, that would be already great ! :)

Great? 5 million lifetime sales? I think great would be closer to 10m, as the best selling GTs. 5 is not bad, but not great either IMO.

It depends, games and movies use to have the biggest impa ct in the first week and then they start to decline (specially movies) even tough I don't know if 61% is good or not (sonds not really good for simply average Joe like me :P )

It would also make it the worst performing first game on a new console by a light year. Given it's the largest team they've ever had by far, and likely the largest budget as well, I'd think 5 million would be a huge disappointment for PD and Sony.

- It's a reboot. New direction : online.
- The racing genre (simulation) isn't popular now.

For me, it would be a good score !

Same.
If PDI made this game more "mainstream" by making it more appealing to the casuals and focused on more variety and types of cars then they could have gotten a much better sales figures. Customization, "an open free roam is playground", career mode...etc.
Something that both casual car enthusiasts and even non car enthusiasts can enjoy.

Things like Drift and Drag racing players seems to be really popular back in GT5 and GT6 as well as Forza. Most players are probably never been a big fan of serious esport racing anyways.

The complaints over here locally from what I heard are pretty similar, "most cars are gone""it sucks"...etc.

But we don't have anything like the spread of numbers to make a reasonable estimate of the numbers it will sell. We have two weeks UK and Japanese numbers. Where are the rest of them? It been at number 1 in several other markets but no sales numbers.

It definitely makes the forum depressing when it's chock full of people complaining though.
I just have rose tinted specs about the GT5 drifting days when everyone was up-beat and loving life. The place was a joy.
What's really depressing is PD released the next game in a series that a lot of us have grown up with that makes many, many people feel in such a way that it makes this place depressing. If they had done a better job this place would be a joy and not depressing at all.

And yet many many others of us are quite happy with GT Sport. Maybe we are not depressed because we are out racing in the game and having a lot of fun?
